You really shouldn't add a 2 or 3X in the front, it defeats the whole purpose of the drive train. In case you didn't know, 1X has been preferred in mountain biking for a while now because of weight and space savings, shifting with one hand, less prone to chain drops, and it's easier for new riders. You really don't want to switch to a 2 or 3X.
So, what do you do then? Buy a larger front chainring, like 32t or 34t. While you will loose some torque/leverage on the climbs, it seems that you're trying to use the mountain bike for commuting and city rides so it probably would better fit your use case. You can buy really cheap ones on amazon for around 20some usd. Here's a 34t chainring on Amazon. You would tkae off your crankarm, unscrew your old chainring, and then screw that one and the crankarm back on.

However, if you really wanted to buy a 2x crankset and front derailleur, you would need more chain links and make sure to buy a crankset compatible with your derailleur.
I have the Ibera pakrak (disc version, of course) on my 18.5” Marlin 5. It's adjustable, so would fit a smaller frame.
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00AA8GFSI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_A10TP8Z1W4QX8BGE88C4
It's light and can carry a bit of weight. Proprietary clip-on system, but also compatible with generic panniers (I have a set of Axiom bags).
I got some like this
focopot Bicycle Cleaning Tools Set (9PCS), Bike Clean Brush Kit Including Bike Chain Scrubber for Mountain, Road, City, Hybrid, BMX and Folding Bike https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089NLHXD5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_MF3FDAQNNM8V1DR9QR6J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It’s this kit. The half circle thing is designed for between the gears. It also has the chain washer thing you’re referring to.
It’s a chain guide. The rear derailleur doesn’t have a clutch so the guide keeps the chain from dropping. I’m not completely sold on it but want to upgrade the entire groupset at some point.

I also have a Race Face removal guard on the chains stay

I have that bike. Be careful with the cables on the front of the frame, they will scratch the paint.
I bought this to slap on it there to protect it
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00B3IXSMA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_KTUsFbN9KSS9A
Everything you list is what I bought for my FX, except no GPS.
Cygolites were recommended when I was looking so I bought this 700/100 lumen Cygolite light set:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IO12Q4O/
I like them but:
I think the threads are different. What I did is I bought a small extender ([something like this](https://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-Universal-Rotary-Extension-Campark/dp/B08C2BJ52S/ref=sr_1_37?crid=1OM3A25CKILA3&keywords=gopro+extension&qid=1671167692&sprefix=gopro+extension%2Caps%2C81&sr=8-37)) that I leave on the Blendr mount using the Blendr bolts, and then I can use the GoPro thumbscrews at the other end to quickly mount or dismount the camera.
That is way too expensive. Buy 3M Scotchgard and cut it to fit.
Definitely look into a tire plug kit. Lots of options from $5-$40. I have this one.
I have had to plug 3 holes that would not self-seal (and 1 wouldnt seal because all my sealant evaporated doh) and these have worked every time. You will probably need to add air or CO2 when you use these as the process of inserting allows a lot of air to escape. With both as you refill the tire with gas, some sealant will start to bubble out around the plug but that is normal and its just working itself into the nooks and crannys. Should stop fairly quickly and be ready to ride.
Here you go, 1225 pieces for $51
Just look at their page & get a small size kit for around $15 which will still have assorted screws ~ 300 of them & will be useful for other thinsg that use metric as well (eg Samsung TV stands etc)

How about a small handle bar bag :) Like burrito / tubular shaped?
We like the stem / snack bags:

Ride safe!
I bought a box of 30 cartridges years ago on Amazon too and still have a bunch left. OP - Definitely do some practice inflations at home before venturing out. It's easy but better to screw up at home than on the side of the road. And don't grab the cartridge when inflating the tire since it gets extremely cold. I like the Portland Design Works Shiny Object CO2 Infllator Head. Small, light, fits in the down tube bag nicely and is all metal construction.
I appreciate the advice about ebay chains.
What about KMC?
I'm digging the McMaster-Carr option from /u/unclebumblebutt.
I'm tempted to try those myself as I have the same issue with my bike but have been burned ordering what I thought were the right ones only to find they don't fit. (Canada here so shipping's brutal)
FWIW, there's a neat option called a "blanking screw". It's similar to a grub screw in that it goes way in but has a small flange (unlike a true grub screw) so it actually bottoms out once in place.
Here's a link to them on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09LMNVTTN/
I use this one: SUPMEGA Bike Mount for AirTag,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09FPHKKDP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It’s a metal enclosure but range seems okay, can’t mess with torx security screws. I keep mine visible and not hidden under a bottle cage. Even if the AirTag doesn’t work 100% it’s at least a deterrent for a thief that might look for another bike that isn’t being tracked
Thanks, ya I'm considering it because I'm finding it difficult and the options limited. This one seems like a good price/I've seen some good reviews - https://www.modernbike.com/schwalbe-energizer-plus-tire---700-x-55c-clincher-wire-black-reflective-performance-addix-e-greenguard
The alternative I'm seeing is using a straight road tire and switching between the two, like this one - https://www.amazon.com/WTB-Slick-2-2-Comp-Tire/dp/B00BZTHJC2
How much of a riser stem do you have on there? Most only offer a very small difference. I got one of those adjustable stems that let you go all the way up to 180 degrees. Being so cheap I don't know how it will hold up long term but it is great for experimenting to see what kind of handlebar position works best, and then at that point you can get a better fixed one.
I'm not sure what will fit your bike but this is what I'm talking about: https://amazon.com/dp/B08CKRS6QB
I'm 6'3" and I've always struggled with the handlebar position, I'm not racing and I don't want to be completely hunched over. I've put some sort of riser stem on every single bike I've had and this adjustable one is at a whole 'nother level of comfort.
I had radius brakes on my marlin 5 as well. There is not much documentation online about them but they have the same bleed ports as the tektro and same bleed procedure. This is the kit I bought that has the tube for both tektro and shimano hydraulic ports.
https://www.amazon.com/RSN-Sports-Master-Hydraulic-Mineral/dp/B08CSYBXDJ
If there is a leak in the cable joint, it might be best to have the bike shop help you do it, unless you want to get the tools you need to do a new hydraulic brake cable. You might need an new olive and barb on the cable end.
I have since upgraded the brakes to the shimano mt200 because the old radius brake pads kept rubbing on the rotors and the pistons kept needing to be cleaned often. One always kept getting stuck. It was a good learning experience changing out the brakes.
I use these on my FX4 Sport to keep me in regular shoes when I'm doing quick trips to the store, etc... Take a look at the - Shimano PDEH500's
The hub issue should most likely be free. They will most likely charge you to switch out parts you did not buy from them. You can buy a Pedal Wrench for $10-$15... this is the one I have LINK
You could try one of these Lixada ones from Amazon. I had one on my last bike and for 18 clams it worked really well.
I've been researching FX bikes and saw on a video someone used an Abus cafe lock on their Fx2. I think it's this one (link below). I read in the reviews you can also get an integrated chain to attach to it as well, which is good because someone could still carry the bike off.
I got this one and it's perfect. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08KZR8245/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_8XHD7KB44X3KAPMJKR6F?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Works the same way. Still on top of my car.
I wouldn't switch to flared drop bars drop to cost alone. You'd need grx brifters and a wolf tooth tanpan. Huge cost for something the bike wasn't designed for (I have a 2021 FX 4 and looked into doing this when I realized I should have gotten something with drops). I picked up a set of 38s for a gravel race in May, but haven't fitted them yet. I got these pedals for mine and love them https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09D76XM96?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Love the color. I'd recommend picking up some helicopter tape to protect the paint/frame wherever you strap any bags. I also put it on my fork where my car rack arm contacts it, and on the back of the seat tube and bottom of the downtube to protect it from gravel, but I'm a little overly protective. What really matters is where anything rubs against the frame.
Unless you already did exactly that and a clean enough job that is undetectable, in which case, carry on.

I like the color so much I researched the exact nail polish to match in case of damage:

I very much recommend doing so. It takes a ton of weight off the front. Keep in mind that you will need a new wheel too, and an adapter for the disk break. I got those from my bike shop.
They’re a good choice. Ultimately I went with these pedals because it’s a similar design as Shimano but you’re able to clip in from either side of the pedal.
I also have these pedals which are a little smaller but you’re also able to clip in from either side.

Like you, I also want to be able to wear casual shoes riding bike. Plus, went I do ride clipless, I prefer the MTB shoes with a flushed clip vs having the to walk like a duck in road bike shoes. 😬
For internally routed cables, you can buy a cable routing kit like this one, though with some ingenuity and patience you could get by without one. Brake cables are pretty universal, and so are shift cables, so if you buy one of each you should be able to cut it to size (cut after routing the cable). You can also buy cables with housing included for a little extra convenience.
As for doing the labor, the ParkTools youtube channel has videos on just about anything you'd ever need to do to maintain a bike. Swapping cables isn't too tricky, but seeing it done can make it much less intimidating for people without a lot of maintenance experience.

Nice bike my dude.
FYI, you might want to look at something like this to keep them straps like new. I use them. Roll on up inside the excess strap and the wrap it around the outside.
FYI someone on Amazon states the XOSS works with their DuoTrapS - see https://www.amazon.com/XOSS-Speedometer-Waterproof-Bluetooth-Computers/dp/B07V2Z7LZ3
As for myself, I've had the DuoTrapS for a few years and it's worked great with two different Garmin watches as well as my new Edge 830.
Just a caveat - need to specifically look for a combo cadence/speed sensor rather than try to auto-search. Doing the latter tends to just pickup the speed portion.
Congrats. Same bike, same color.
Put a little scrape in it the other day...get yourself some of this ; )
If you’re looking for a truck bed mount and are ok with removing your front tires, I use both of these (QR and thru axle) with no issues. They mount super quick if you have a track system like in a Tacoma and stay mounted and out of the way
Wow. I can’t wait to be like that, but I’m gonna take it slow and not rush.

Installation took just a couple minutes. The rear clamps to the seat post, the front has a plug that fits in the hole in the fork/head post. The only took you need is a Phillips head screwdriver.
As you can see, it doesn’t protect the frame or your lower legs from spray. The cables to the cockpit also interfere with the alignment of the front fender.
Hi there!
Yeah the stock Bontrager seat is rough if you don’t have padded shorts.
We just picked up a Marlin 7 for my wife and I got her this seat
She loves it and is able to ride comfortably for miles without pain.
You need a crank bolt for a square taper bottom bracket.

Just install it with an 8mm hex wrench. If you have a torque wrench, torque to 40Nm.
Yes, I purchased 3M Clear Paint Protection Bulk Film. It's cheaper than most bike specific paint protectors and since it's made by 3M I assume it's high quality.
The solution I use and love is getting this iOttie holder, and if you don't want the stick-on bit on your regular phone case just get a second cheap case to leave on the bike.
Here's a picture of it on my Checkpoint SL 5.
If your stem is short then you can also mount it transversely in the bar itself.
You need a bike adapter bar that connects to the stem and seat post. Dual suspension bikes don't usually fit on standard hanging racks without an adapter.

When I picked up my DS3 it was basically "here ya go" (I had pre-ordered). I asked if there was any paperwork or anything and he handed me a DVD. No questions, no training, not even any upsell of extras.
In my first ride I hardly had to change gears but on the second ride I did a very big bridge and found the gears were not shifting smoothly in back and not shifting at all in the front with the pressure of real pedaling. I watched a couple youtube videos and adjusted the chain guide, derailleur and the limiting screws at the back and now it is perfect. I didn't want to haul the bike an hour to the shop. I guess these days they expect you to find out online.
I actually was surprised that the seat was fine for me. It doesn't look like it. I do have a conditioned butt from riding my old bike though. Maybe it will be better for you after more rides.
Hope you enjoy your new bike!
