I guess it's a smart thing to do even though I think most of us don't expect much from the storm. We are under a constant tornado watch and I believe we are also under a constant storm watch, flash flood watch, high wind warning, and high surf advisory. No evacuations are in place or anything (of course). Make what you will of all that.

Do the usual things. Have common sense. Don't be roaming about if you don't need to be. The storms don't look like they'll start until the evening so most of you should be off of work (not all). Don't drive into floods. Don't drive into standing water. I mean, use your brain, seriously. I'm just typing it because I know some folks can't get it.
Check out nextdoor.com ... it's kinda like facebook but it's restricted to your neighborhood and neighborhoods close by. I have gotten great recommendations for auto mechanics and handymen on there.
Those sort of links tend to be abused to make spam posts. The spam bought auto removes them. Just use the full image URL next time and you'll be all set:
I bought my camera off Amazon. Dash Camera for Cars, Super Night Vision Dash Cam Front and Rear with 32G SD Card, 1080P FHD DVR Car Dashboard Camera with G-Sensor, WDR, Parking Monitor, Loop Recording, Motion Detection 【2021 New】 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086ML686Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_SPS7N5CJ4ATJ5CS0R5FR?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 I’ve had it for a while and love it. Comes with a backup camera too, but it’s optional to install with it. I set mine up so it turns on as soon as my car turns on, hardwired it and everything (I do it professionally for my job lol) very nifty. You can set it up so it records in intervals (I have mine set to 3 minute videos).
I haven't flown it in a couple years, though I still have it.
It's the Altair Aerial 818 Hornet. They also have a decent selection of bigger drones.
If I were to ever get another one, I would go through them. I ordered mine around Christmas in 2017. I got a second one a short time later with a note saying that there was a mistake with the packaging of some of them, and since they wouldn't have the chance to identify all of the ones shipped with missing pieces, they just sent out new ones to everyone who ordered them so any Christmas presents wouldn't be late. They earned a lot of respect from me from that.
Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Altair Aerial in any way.
Pinned to their cars? Nope nope noppity nope nope. I'll leave this again for your female friends. There are also keychains made of resin that function similar to knives, and hair sticks that are very sharp and pointy. This guy sounds like a major creeper. Perhaps getting a group of people together that have experienced this guy and calling 10 On Your Side would help. You could call some of the businesses and see if they have footage of him harassing people. Pinning someone to a car asking for money is NOT ok and that IS illegal. At the least it's harassment, possibly battery.

Here ya go: SABRE Crossfire Pepper Gel,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GVSHG61?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
This is what I carry. It's a gel so you don't have to worry about blowback as much, range of 18 feet I think. It has a safety cap but don't let the kids play with it. There are plenty of ways to protect yourself and your kids that don't involve a gun or a tazer.
This cockroach bait is crack for roaches. You can put small dabs of it out and within a day or so they will come out of their nests dying and drop dead. They take the bait back to their nests. I used to put small cuts of painters tape up and then put the bait on that so I can easily take it down and throw away once the dabs dry out. It's consistency is putty like and will sit on vertical spaces. I would make sure children or pets can't reach it. It's pretty amazing stuff that is gold to realtors/property managers.

That's definitely the best thing ... as someone else said, between 30 and 80 ... that's accurate! Here's the April 2020 VB temps on a chart .. it's all over the place hah
Go to nextdoor.com .... it's kinda like facebook but it's restricted to your neighborhood. You can ask neighbors for recommendations. I've found good people to do work at great rates on there, from recommendations from others.
Go on nextdoor.com .. it's a facebook type website that is restricted to your neighbors who will offer recommendations. I found a guy to fix my car for a reasonable amount on there

We get a lot of rain, and we tend to get it in big chunks.
Here we are, in the top twelve annual precipitation totals for top 50 metro areas.

But we're actually below average for number of rainy days with 115, the same as New Orleans.
August 4th is the statistically the likeliest day for rain. (October 22nd is the driest day.)

While you should do what you want to do, it's probably early to assume that you won't be able to do at least a socially responsible beach wedding later this summer. You might be able to, but that's not a given just yet. We've only been in the emergency state for six weeks or so, and already new case rates are going down nationwide, as well as in Virginia Beach.
The beach in summer is not particularly conducive to virus transmission, as heat, humidity and sunlight are all known to suppress virus activity. ""The virus can remain intact at 4 degrees (39 degrees Fahrenheit) or 10 degrees (50 F) for a longer period of time," Nicholls said, referring to Celsius measurements, according to the transcript. "But at 30 degrees (86 degrees F) then you get inactivation. And high humidity -- the virus doesn't like it either," he added, the transcript of the call showed."
"Sunlight will cut the virus' ability to grow in half so the half-life will be 2.5 minutes and in the dark it's about 13 to 20 [minutes]," Nicholls said. "Sunlight is really good at killing viruses."
For that reason, he also added that he doesn't expect areas such as Australia, Africa and the Southern hemisphere to see high rates of infection because they are in the middle of summer." (which has been the case, two months after this prediction was made.)
FWIW, suggesting that things are improving and might get significantly better in the future tends not to be a popular opinion here, since people are still scared That said, we should still be aware of the science of the situation. In any event, it's still all just predictions at this point, and they might or might not work out that way.
I bought one of those ODBII scanners that bluetooth to your phone for like 15 bucks, never paid for a diagnostic again. It'll tell you the trouble code on your phone, hyperlink to parts and articles so you know what youre talking about before you go to the shop. One of the best automotive tools I own.
One of these:

whoa.. so through city-data the "msn" map actually had all the neighbrohoods in a much easier to view map than goog. scrolling in and out gave either area or neighborhood labels
Check expedia, hotels.com, etc. They usually have a map showing where the hotels are and rates around the dates you pick. They'll all have reviews, etc. I'd think they would have a checkbox for AAA, Military, etc.
Since we live here, we're not too aware of what hotel rates are.
You can post your best choice here and we can tell you if the area is nice or not.
Avoid the Knight's Inn on Lynnhaven Parkway and anything near Northhampton Blvd!
I'd also advertise on NextDoor.com and do a Clean the Lake Day. Do you have an HOA? Address it with them as well. Get your neighbors involved in the cleanup and hopefully start taking pride in their community.
If your area of consideration includes Va Beach proper (by the ocean), I know of a 4-BR place available right during that timeframe. Feel free to message me here.
If you're looking for something in/closer to Chesapeake, I'd recommend creating a NextDoor account (if you haven't) in that area and posing your question there. https://nextdoor.com/city/chesapeake--va/

And when you feel confident enough, be ready to wreck and fall.
When I lived in Savannah, GA some years back, these giant cockroaches (palmetto bugs are what native Savannians call them) used to drop out of palm trees and run for your shadow if you were outside and in the light of a streetlamp. Shudder. Imagine carrying groceries from your car to the steps of your apartment with huge cockroaches chasing you. Nightmare fuel.
Try these. Note that they specifically say for "large" roaches.

We've had them in VB for years. However, I've heard more than one exterminator say that these suckers got much worse in our area after people (including the city landscape department) decided that we needed to look like little Miami Beach and started shipping in and transplanting palmetto trees all over the place. Ridiculous things and such an affectation. Any tree you literally have to shrink wrap to keep alive through the winter is not a native species. If these giant cockroaches love them, that's even more reason to not plant them.
edit/spelling
There's apparently been a run on these for stay-cationers who want to have fun in their own backyard. (Despite that big ocean right over there.)
Amazon has some for what look to be pretty high prices. Not sure what these usually go for, though.
