If he's still around, ECE 2010 with Makarov. Useful stuff to know anyway. His lectures are engaging - he usually ends up covered in chalk dust because of how god damned excited he is. He also shows up to all the labs. His passion for his job really shows.
I'm fairly sure he's moved on, but Prof. Berezovski for anything (I had him Calc I/II). Great teacher and total badass. If you don't get a 100 on a test, he'll let you come to his office and keep revising it until you do. Also, he almost broke the pepper scale on ratemyprofessor:

If you want an interesting elective, I took Philosophy of Religion with Gottlieb. You basically sit there and listen to a sort of crazy Jewish socialist ramble about whatever he wants. Good times.
Edit: Some details.
We're offering 30 prizes across 6 categories, ranging from $5 - $25 Amazon gift cards. Kilroy members aren't eligible to win prizes because that would be embezzlement or something. Categories include Most Creative, Best Twist, Worst Pun, "The Covid Award", Best Production Quality, and the Gompei Innovation Award. Videos have to be 10 seconds or shorter, but can be shot on a smart phone, real camera, or fake camera. There are few submissions so far, so it's free money as of right now.
Here's the link to the form where you can submit your video(s): link
The contest ends May 7th, so if you have a cool idea for a fun video you should submit it soon!
A friend of mine worked on a website for scheduling classes for one of his big projects. It's a great website and I didn't learn about it until after I registered for my second semester of classes. I don't know how much it will help you, but at the very least it can help you visualize your schedule and see what terms you can take classes. Hopefully, you'll remember it for C- and D-Term registration in December. It's not the best, and you'll need to cross-reference Banner Web, which is the site you'll use to actually sign up for classes, and the course catalog. Also, check Rate My Professors. Take the reviews with a grain of salt, because most people go on there just to complain about failing the class, and those people will outweigh the people who go on there to give good reviews.
My friends and I have a joke that the Registrar's Office is built on a throne of lies. They tell you things like you need to take Great Problems Seminar (as of this year, you do not have to take GPS, they are auxiliary courses and only add on to your workload; no one I know recommends them). They told me that if I took a language class, I had to take it all four years, which isn't true. So, look at the catalog (it will give you general and degree requirements), and get multiple sources if somethings seems weird.
Also, Riley is NOT the residence hall attached to DAKA. Those residence halls would be Morgan and Daniels (they are both conjoined via "The Wedge", which is where the entrance to DAKA is). If that's all you're looking for in a residence hall, both are good.
I've had a lot of fun my first year here, and I hope you will too!
I'd highly recommend not taking controls with Fofana or Hakim, and I haven't heard good things about Linn either. Instead, pick an online controls course from MIT OCW, EdX, or Coursera (here's one option, but check next year) and talk to a professor to do it as an ISP. If your math skills are very solid, the grad AE controls courses are good.
And yeah, don't overload with soft eng.

Looking for a hands-on MQP? Consider applying to join the Formula Electric SAE MQP!
We are seeking students from all majors, especially ECE, ME, CS, and RBE to design, fabricate, and compete with our next generation electric car for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE) is an engineering design competition where college students build Formula-1 style Racecars. The competition provides students with the opportunity to enhance their engineering design and project management skills by applying classroom knowledge to a challenging project. This year, WPI’s FSAE MQP will bring its first fully electric car to competition! Our transition to electric has made the MQP extremely interdisciplinary. We are recruiting for Power Electronics, Mechanical Systems, Control systems, Data Acquisition, and Embedded Programming.
You don’t need to have any experience with building a Racecar or with Automobiles; this is a way to learn about designing a system from the ground up.
If you are Interested and would like to learn more, fill out the interest form and sign up for a virtual information session on Wednesday, Feb 2nd 5-6pm or Thursday, Feb 10th 6-7pm. If you are unavailable, we can send a recorded session to you.
Feel free to reach out to Harris Brancazio, FSAE Club President with any questions!
Alpha Phi Omega has C term recruitment this week. APO is a national co-Ed community service fraternity and it’s okay to be in both APO and a social fraternity. Check out the recruitment information http://linktr.ee/apo_wpi[here](http://linktr.ee/apo_wpi).
Brand new building with not nearly enough outlets in usable spaces? ~~Foisie~~ Déjà vu!

Someone needs to go slap a bunch of these bad boys around SmartWorld.
boring and a lot of work? yikes. i was also considering ECE 2010 against BME 1001. also take a look at the BME 1001 professor i would have. only four ratings, but doesn't seem too bad right?
also: ECE 2010 professor (this course also has a lab)
I got it from here. Some company used East for a case study on green dorm buildings. Scroll through a few slides and you'll find the layout for the bottom floor and then the layout for upper floors.
Very cool. I'm imagining a club looking to build the next dropbox/redditt/facebook/snapchat applications. I see beta after beta from from the Beta List (http://betalist.com/) and my assumption is there are students on campus who also want to build great products.
I can tell you with 100% confidence that your IP is a WAN IP.
>Pretty sure they've got a router and or firewall appliance between you and the WAN.
They do. But I can tell you that for most applications, this won't affect you. I've had plenty of things open to the world from my computers on the network without any trouble.
>Also that would be a lotta WAN IPs
You're right, it is. Doesn't make it not doable.
That would be great and my ultimate goal is to build an incubator program for new grads... For now, I was thinking something more virtual like a slack site (https://slack.com/) or using Sproutr (https://sproutr.co/app/home - this is my current project) to create an area to get people talking about ideas and collaborating on projects.
There are plenty of apps out there to provide you with a workout regiment here's one I've used https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=homeworkout.homeworkouts.noequipment
Look around to find one that suits you with having lockdowns for the last 5+ months there's a lot of sources out there.
Pro Tip: if you’re stuck with the moving bins get yourself some of these moving bags: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J6625YY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_GHamFbGFR5FSK
I was able to fit all of my stuff in these and then fit six of them in one of those bins. You can fit all eight in a bin if you go over the height of the bin
Bought brand new then switched to another class and never used. Asking for $40 cash (based on this), but am willing to negotiate a bit. PM me if you are interested. I can come to campus to exchange on a weekend. I will post this again in August before classes start if it doesn't sell before then.
I signed up for BTGuard, and I set it's proper settings in uTorrent, and it still won't connect to the trackers.
I downloaded the client so it would allow me to encrypt the traffic? then changed uTorrent proxy ip setting to 127.0.0.1, and it still doesn't connect to the trackers. Rarely there's a tracker that works, but 9/10 torrents don't work. I downloaded Need for Speed first thing, and it worked fine, now when I try to download movies it doesn't work.
Any advice?
Edit: Also I have a green check sign at the bottom of uTorrent saying the network is working fine.
This is the laptop i will be bringing ( www.amazon.com/MSI-GE62-APACHE-002-15-6-Inch-Gaming/dp/B00RVUMRKS/ref=pd_sim_sbs_147_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=19WPDQP7V0MM9K1W7W5W ), do you guys think this is too big? I dont want anything too clunky.
Yeah you should have room. You'll probably end up sacrificing some workspace.
Here's what I got away with in my Daniels Hall dorm room to give you a rough idea of space. That's a 24" monitor on a monitor arm-mount. If you're just using regular stands for your monitors, I highly recommend buying a triple-monitor mount or something like that to give you more real estate on your desk.
