If you have access to the internet, you have access to free books thanks to Project Gutenberg and LibriVox.
Does every have access to the same books? No, the world is incredibly unequal and some of us are way more privileged than others, but that doesn't mean you get to steal from hard working authors.
I also detest this trend of using goodreads to bash an author for their views instead of rating the actual book.
I'd say that I personally would rather pick up a book with the spanish cover, but I think the English Cover is less creepy and dark and thus fits the story better.
Both are way better than the german cover: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07YF52T19/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1
It's also completely beyond me, why they changed the title. If they would have picked a german title, i would understand that, but why change it to something in english?
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater, I remember it having a huge hype when it was released and I was super excited but it was just so slow paced, cheesy, annoying that I couldn't even finish it. I hate not finishing a book and usually soldier on and try to finish, even if I'm not enjoying it but this one I just couldn't do it.
If you guys want to check the book out you can find it here: https://www.amazon.com/Smoke-Mirrors-Young-Adult-Novella-ebook/dp/B07GMZVF72/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1541259548&sr=8-7&keywords=cj+evans
It's also on Kindle Unlimited. If you read it, hope you like it and please drop a review, that would mean a lot! thanks :)
You are fourteen and writing for NaNo. What you write will (probably) suck.
But this is FINE! This is the POINT!
Nano is about getting a flow going. It is about teaching your brain to make words come out.
With this is mind, for this month do not - repeat DO NOT - look for this sort of information. Plot advice etc. Ignore it. Write what feels right for you in the moment.
Write. Write more. Keep writing. Find the fun in it. Don't care if it is good or bad. You will make these judgments on the fly and many of them will be wrong. That's what next drafts and editing and experience are for. Nano is about uninterrupted verbiage.
It is in the months after where you will look back and think 'Wow, that bit was good, that bit was crap, I can fix this bit, I'm not sure what's wrong with this bit'. Nano is where you practice writing so you can look back and learn from what you've done. If you try doing stuff from other people's ideas, you'll miss seeing the errors and genius in your own uninterrupted process. You won't learn.
At least, that's my advice. Someone else may have a better perspective on it. And I'm being a complete hypocrite because I wimped out of NaNo this year and am among the least-disciplined writers I know. But at fourteen, and in NaNo, you should be practicing getting the words out so that you can learn your own style and fix your own issues.
After Nano, go get a copy of 'On Writing' by Stephen King. Leave your manuscript alone for 6 weeks while you read 'On Writing' about five hundred times. Then come back and start the real learning.
Good luck. People have written great books at your age or slightly older. Maybe you'll be one of them. If not, every word you write will get you closer to being the writer you want to be and won't be wasted.
I am old, so come at me with my less than brand-spanking-new recs...
EVERYTHING by Robin McKinley. That's it, thank you very much.
Absolute favorite of hers? And absolute favorite book? Chalice.
"The earthlines speak to Mirasol, but her family has lived in the demesne for centuries, and many of the old families can hear the land. She knows that the violent deaths of the last Master and Chalice have thrown Willowlands into turmoil; but she is only a beekeeper, and the problems of the Circle that govern Willowlands have nothing to do with her—although she wonders what will become of her demesne, because the Master and Chalice left no heirs to carry on their crucial duties. And then the Circle come to Mirasol, to tell her that she has been chosen to be the new Chalice; and the Master she must learn to work with is a Priest of Fire, a man no longer quite human, whose touch can burn human flesh to the bone."
I've seen authors complain over the years that basically anyone can upload books to Scribd. As a result they've found their works uploaded without permission (& obviously aren't getting paid for it).
Then there's the fact that it's incredibly difficult to cancel your membership.
Audible is at least a bit more reputable (or at least as much as company owned by Amazon can be).
Another option to consider is Libro.fm . The model is very similar to Audible but you buy the books & support your local bookstore.
I love Scott Westerfeld, his world building is just fantastic, I'm blown away by the complexity and innovation of each one, and I have become obsessed by every single one of his series so far. Leviathan is my favorite.
Anne Rice has some really weird/kinky erotica/romance. It’s a retelling of the Sleeping Beauty fairytale, so it might be up your alley. It’s definitely not YA/NA though. Link

> Ebook price sensitivity: Amazon dropping SABRIEL to $1.99 (US only) has propelled it to #1 in Kindle SF/F http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FC13MM
The Sea of Tranquillity by Katja Millay. Along the lines of Speak. The love interest also has issues, it is not a traditional romance, and both characters are amazingly real and imperfect.
Edit: I also really liked Slammed by Colleen Hoover for its twists in the romance and I loved the inclusion of the slams for storytelling.
Is it this one? http://www.bookdepository.com/Fangirl-Rainbow-Rowell/9781250073808?ref=grid-view
Book Depository also lists a different pink hardback edition but it's currently unavailable. :(
Edit: sorry I just realized you said you needed paperback! Perhaps reach out to the author on Facebook? She's super nice and has sent me signed book plates for my book club once (however this was a long time ago). Good luck!
The only book by that name that I can find is https://www.amazon.com/Cacao-Crudo-Spanish-Sally-Grindley/dp/8467561270/ref=nodl_
And it’s not even close to that plot. Just post a picture of the book preferably with the in book summary. Otherwise no one on Reddit’s going to be able to relate let alone believe you.

https://www.amazon.com/Harry-Potter-Philosophy-Aristotle-Hogwarts/dp/0812694554
Lol, I am an insane HP nerd; I reread the series every year.
I also happen to be a huge philosophy fanatic and I never shut up about Virtue Ethics, so when I saw a book called Harry Potter and Philosophy: If Aristotle Ran Hogwarts, I flipped out.
note: the title was deceptive. It only talks about Aristotle for a few pages. It explored all different philosophies (which was cool, but I was hyped for Aristotle)
I hope it’s okay for me to recommend my own book, because I feel this same way! I did my very best not to create hose types of characters, because they drive me crazy. My book is called Returning the Golden-Eyed Girl. It’s a YA scifi about a girl who gets trapped in a floating city no one has heard from in over thirty years. If you ever decide to pick it up, I’d love to hear what you think!
I’d also recommend Everybody Sees the Ants by A.S. King, or More Than This by Patrick Ness. Great characters, and great stories!
I love that book. Ness is one of my favorite YA authors. I'm glad to hear you liked it, too! I would recommend The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness since you enjoyed More Than This. It's the first of a fantastic trilogy.
I seriously recommend for you guys to pick up The Assassin's Blade novella, the stories are great and we finally get to see a bit of Sam and Arobyn that are only mentioned in Throne of Glass
Would Nancy Drew be too obvious? If so, there was an offshoot called the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys SuperMysteries in which they team up.
I remember reading this when I was younger and really enjoying it! It was written in 2006, but it's still pretty relevant and I remember being horrified for the protagonist.
I just discovered Guy Gavriel Kay in 2013 and proceeded to read every single one of his books! I love this man's writing!
A great YA book by GGK is Ysabel.
Synopsis: Fifteen-year-old Ned Marriner accompanies his photographer father to Provence, where he is shooting images for a glossy coffee-table book. As Ned strolls along roads walked by Celtic tribes and Roman legions, he discovers a very old story playing itself out in this modern world of iPods and cell phones. On one holy, haunted night of the ancient year, when the borders between the living and the dead are down and fires are lit upon the hills, Ned, his family, and friends are shockingly drawn into this tale, as dangerous, mythic figures from conflicts of long ago erupt into the present, claiming and changing lives.
The Fionavar Tapestry trilogy is another fantastic YA fanstasy read by GGK!
Ally Carter’s books are really plot driven and engaging, so helpfully distracting!
I found reading grief specific (nonfic) books really helpful as well — this series has one for basically every type of loss, highly recommend, helped me a lot, and very short and straightforward. https://www.amazon.com/Healing-Your-Grieving-Heart-Practical/dp/1879651254
To complement Neverwhere, here's the most recent radio play they did of it. Really well done! The cast includes James McAvoy, Natalie Dormer, Christopher Lee, Benedict Cumberbatch, David Harewood, Sophie Okonedo, Anthony Head and David Schofield.
I bought the box set on Amazon and got a signed poster from Julie!! On one side there's Ash's picture and Puck is on the other side. Tbh the best decision I made cause I get to see Ash's face everyday :)
It has. It's called Strange Days and it's in bookstores and on Amazon.
Thanks for being interested!
It's not out yet, but based on your "loved" books you might like Legendborn by Tracy Deonn! It's being compared to City of Bones. I got an ARC and the story was phenomenal - I loved it so much I pre-ordered so I can have a finished copy for my shelf. It's an original take on a king arthur retelling with loads of character growth and a great magic system, and I already can't wait for the second in the series: https://www.amazon.com/Tracy-Deonn/dp/1534441603/
I'd love it if you'd check out my book! It fits your criteria - and it would be awesome to have you join my band of readers! https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B081D1JQYY/ref=rdr_kindle_ext_tmb
Last Night I Sang to the Monster by Benjamin Alire Saenz
The main character is in rehab. Reading it helped me realize my own depression and empowered me to get help, and thankfully stay out of any in patient facilities.
All of Saenz's works are wonderful.

Hello and happy release week!
On Tuesday I released the sixth and final book in my series 'The Weight Of It All'. It has been a difficult road to get here, and the ending is more controversial than even I expected, but I am proud to have finished the series.
The book is ‘Goddess (The Weight Of It All),’ and it is now available on Amazon and audible.
You can find the book here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09TPT1YZ4
Or here: https://www.audible.com/pd/Goddess-Audiobook/B0BN4J9JJH
Lastly, for those who haven’t read or heard about the series, here’s a quick synopsis:
‘The Weight Of It All’ follows a boy named Terrence who is gifted the power to view weight by the Goddess. In a world where people are given affinities for cool things like swords, fire, and ice, he is initially underwhelmed to say the least… but over time his abilities grow, he Ranks up, and he comes to understand how powerful he really can be. Throughout the series, Terrence is used as the backdrop for a vast continent where dungeons, monsters, and the Goddess are all real.
And though Terrence is the focus of the story, the series is often told from a couple different perspectives. While Terrence learns about his abilities, his uncle Tom is a veteran dungeoneer followed through a dungeon crawl in the north. The story juxtaposes the newness of Terrence as he goes to a ‘magic’ school for Dungeoneers against the real-life threats facing a man who has spent years with his back against a wall. And while the first book is really an introduction to it all, the series covers a lot of ground as everyone grows stronger, people are lost, the whole continent goes to war, and Terrence must eventually face a challenge from the Goddess herself.

I self-published a book at the end of September called The Tucker Girls. It’s a YA love story involving two sisters and a troubled boy. It’s the first book in a series.
Here’s the book description:
Serena: I've been forced to begrudgingly move across the US for my senior year of high school. It's every seventeen-year-old girl's worst nightmare - that is until I lay eyes on Hunter Bowden. I've never believed in love at first sight, but he has me second guessing everything. Despite my classmates warning to stay away, I'm drawn to him like a moth to a flame. I want him. I'm going to have him.
Lindsey: Texas is the fresh start I needed, but knowing that doesn't alleviate my guilt for being the reason we suddenly moved. Still scarred from my last high school experience, I'm determined to lay low and get through my last two years without incident. Unfortunately, Serena has different plans. My sister is chasing after trouble. I just hope she doesn't end up shattered like me.
It’s available on Kindle Unlimited.
My debut novel is available now! Free on Kindle Unlimited!
In magical America, the government implants wizards with microchips to regulate their magic and control their lives. Every citizen is tested for magical ability before high school, and those with the ability get sent to one of five specialized magical Academies.
The day James Clayden discovered he could cast magic was simultaneously the best and the worst day of his life. His family of staunch anti-magic purists disowned him and his girlfriend dumped him, but he would be attending the Lakeside Academy of Magic and Advanced Technology, the most prestigious of the five American Academies. Despite his upbringing, James had always secretly wanted to be a wizard, so he was both elated and devastated at the turn of events.
Life at the Academy surpassed all James’s expectations. His more socially competent new roommate introduced him to several other students, and they all became fast friends. The robot chefs made better food than he’d ever had in his life. The library was exhaustive, and there were magics to read an entire book in an instant. On top of everything else, there was the actual learning and casting of magic.
Things at the Academy are not all they appear to be, though, as soon one of James’s new friends is transformed into a tree through magic no one seems to know either how to cast or reverse. Soon, more students are lost to unexplained transformations, transformations they don’t survive, and James and his friends set out to figure out who or what is behind these deaths. While navigating new relationships and confronting bullies, James has to discover the cause of these deaths before he or another of his friends fall victim to whatever is happening, or, worse, the Academy is closed.

Good evening. Today happens to be the official release date for my new novel, Feast of the Sisters, from Park End Books. In this book, gentle and sensitive Jo has to gather all her faith and courage to rescue her older sister from a vampire. It draws inspiration from vampire fiction like Bram Stoker's Dracula, Milovan Glišiċ's After Ninety Years, and the Castlevania games*.* If that sounds up your alley, then please check it out.

According to their Bill of Life, human life may not be terminated from the moment of conception until the age of thirteen. But between the ages of thirteen and eighteen, the child may be gotten rid of by their parent through a process called “unwinding.”

My debut novel got traditionally published with a small indie publisher and although it's not YA I think it'd still appeal to those who enjoy the genre :)

The first book in the series introduces Terrence, a boy who has received the Affinity of WEIGHT from the Goddess, Tom a more veteran Dungeoneer with an Affinity of SWORD, and many other characters, all with unique Skills, Affinities, and backgrounds. The first book is slow and slice of life, as it introduces the world, but later books include a lot more dungeon diving, monster fighting, dungeon collapses, and war. As the series continues, the stakes are raised considerably.
Anyways, check out the series for free this weekend. Thanks for reading!
Series teaser:
On the continent of Terna, the Goddess is real. Through her power, a small percentage of the population receives an Affinity the year they turn sixteen. With these Affinities, they receive a Skill and a Rank. As they use their Skill, through effort and continued use, they can Rank Up, earning new Skills and more Energy. Energy is used for Skills, along with other superhuman feats.
*Book 2 is currently only discounted to 2.49. There's an issue on the platform that Amazon is looking to resolve.
Have you seen the Amazon promo image for LightLark that claims it's already a blockbuster?
I know blockbuster can describe a book or movie - but I've always seen it refer to movies (w/books claiming bestseller rewards and only saying it's a blockbuster when it actually has a "blockbuster hit" movie).
All the promotion done for this book feels scammy - the weird tiktoks (the Times Square Cover reveal, the fake gasping while looking at her books, the holding hands w/other YA authors in book stores, etc.), bragging about how much money she's making and getting "the rare movie deal before the book is out" that is at the "rights" stage.... like - I follow Xiran Jay Zhao (and preordered/bought Iron Widow)... and appreciate how HUMBLE she is... but damn.
You can't claim how LightLark is = to all these HUGE big names w/massive fandoms (hoping to get them to read your book) and then have your friends/other authors give you such flowery reviews... only from what all the ARCs are saying... don't even deliver what you've been promoting.
I'm afraid to read it when my preorder comes in the mail... at least it comes w/those good promo images (which I know is a way for her to get enough sales for USA Today / NY Times Bestseller tags so she can brag about that too on tiktok).

Hello!
Skate the Thief is available on Amazon.
Skate is a thief, trained and owned by the local crime syndicate, the Ink. When she tries to burgle a shut-in’s home, she gets caught by the owner—a powerful undead wizard. He makes a deal with her: “borrow” books from other wizards in return for a place to stay.
Caught between her growing fondness for the wizard and her past with the crime syndicate, Skate doesn’t know where her loyalties lie. But she’d better figure it out, because there’s a new player in town, one whose magical hypnotism puts them all at risk.
The first chapter is available for free here.
I’m working on book 2 — or waiting on the publisher to get back to me, I guess. Can’t really do any more work on it until then. In the meantime, I’ve been working on a side project.

The Dark Carousel series by Anya Allyn. It has four books, -Dollhouse -Paper Dolls -Marionette -Music box
My God. It's the most underrated book series ever. It goes from kidnapping to Gothic kingdom to parallel worlds. One heck of a rollercoaster. Highly recommended!!
p.s i haven't had a chance to discuss the series with anyone😭. So if someone has read it, replyyy
Hi all! Still new to the ~Reddit-sphere~ so if you can literally feel the awkwardness coming through your screen, pray forgive me.
I published a YA fantasy book last month. Think:
Women with ambition, sometimes swords, definitely tattoos.
Twisted family dynamics that only get twist-ier.
Love interests who are present but not facilitators of plot because I got very tired of romance being the conduit for so many YA protagonist's personal growth.
If you're interested, you can read more here.

Hey guys! I've been lurking here for a while, but haven't interacted because I'd feel like, being an author, I'd be skating on the line of a conflict of interest. However, I did write a YA gothic fantasy series, so here it is!

The blurb:
Everyone knows that monsters are real.
Venice, 1865: Sixteen-year-old Ayanda Draculesti doesn't remember her early life—all she knows is that she was found as a small child, wandering the streets of Venice with an intricate medallion and a mangled left arm. She knows that she's an Unnatural, an alchemical being created with strange abilities. She knows that if anyone finds out, she'll die at the hands of an angry mob.
But Ayanda is unique even among Unnaturals--even though she's alive, she has the powers of a vampire. She has the strength and speed to battle them, and most importantly, the will. She won't let another child die.
Ayanda isn't the only young Unnatural in Venice. Ghostly Yurei is in hiding, fleeing the captors determined to turn him into an assassin. Jette Jekyll and Belle Frankenstein are on the run from alchemists who want them dead and dissected. Their paths and Ayanda's collide when a brutal enemy surfaces that threatens them all: one of the Greater Dead, a vampire that slithers through Venice murdering everyone she encounters.
This vampire isn’t on the hunt. She has plans, more sinister and dangerous than anyone can imagine.
Ayanda is determined to stop this Dead creature before she kills again. Yurei, Jette and Belle aren't. Why should they risk their lives to save people who see them as monsters? All they’ve ever known is hate and fear. They owe the world nothing.
But Ayanda can't defeat a Dead creature alone.

It’s a sort of space fantasy about warring families with a lot of history, and this one guy who gets caught up in it. In retrospect, it feels more like an exercise in world building and character development 😅
i'm actually writing mafia that's more NA/college-age than dark. it's got some spice but is definitely more about the adventure/suspense than anything else. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09LWW4LX9?notRedirectToSDP=1&ref\_=dbs\_mng\_calw\_0&storeType=ebooks

Hello! The audiobook for my fifth book in series, OutRanked (The Weight Of It All) releases on May 17th!
This story has the most action of the series so far when most of the characters are put in compromising positions to save the ones they love.
A father running away from the war and another running towards it, the war between the kingdom of Prost and Tamber has started. And in the midst of it all, Terrence's path towards becoming a Dungeoneer takes a few unexpected turns.
Preorder is available now, or you can start the series from book 1: www.amazon.com/dp/B09YVQV8DT
All ebooks are also available on Kindle unlimited, starting from book 1.
I'd re-read it ;)
Also, I wrote a prequel you might like: The Dragon's Revenge.
And for a good read within the LitRPG genre I highly recommend: Summoned! To an RPG World.
I wrote a urban fantasy / litrpg, and a lot of my readers have been telling me it would do really well with YA audiences. It's funny, light-hearted, and it's got some characters that I really think you're going to get attached to.
In another world, I must defeat the Demon King
Get it here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09W84B7FQ
And here's the blurb:
Henry’s life as a valiant defender of the realm is over—stolen away when he is transported to a strange new world. Instead of horses and swords, it has cars, rent, hamburgers, and a gun-toting part-time waitress named Shana. There isn't much use for a white knight atop a fiery steed… or is there?
Thankfully, Henry’s ability to level up and unlock powerful new skills hasn’t abandoned him. In fact, Shana is starting to level up, too. But there's a catch. Turns out, they’ve caught the attention of a secret society that's devoted to the very system of power that Henry was raised on. Led by the enigmatic Demon King, they aren’t happy about newcomers getting involved in their affairs. Magic, power, experience—the Society wants it all for themselves, and they'll happily kill whoever it takes to keep it that way.

Here’s a link to the box set if it helps! I’d totally recommend all three.
The Bane Chronicles is just pure Magnus being Magnus. That’s it.
Shadowhunter Academy is a really fun collection of stories post-TMI. Bit dark in places tho
And Shadow Market is about Jem trying to find… someone (I forgot who), but each story focuses on a different character.
ALL VERY GOOD.

In the first day it hit #1 on Amazon's Movers and Shakers Chart - has received a ton of 5 star reviews, and is doing, overall - very well! If you'd like to give it a try it's also free on kindle unlimited. Here's a blurb!
-
The continent of Torekan has been successfully ruled by a theocracy for 150 years, the Order of Alvar. In a world suppressed by an order which represents the elite people - those with pure powers - there is little talk of the downtrodden.
But out there, in the once lush landscape, long ago destroyed by the Order, the naturalists are preparing. Hundreds of years of oppression for the power that flows in their veins is about to surface in a long anticipated fight for equality.
Anika Dian has served the Order of Alvar since she was a child but she harbors a secret that only she and her father knows. As the last remaining Naidisbo she is not considered to be pure, but her power is not tied to the naturalists who draw their power from the earth. Feared and misunderstood, the Naidisbo were culled during the last uprising for their abilities.
When forced to reveal her abilities Anika finds herself thrust into an unknown world where she’s forced to face her prejudices, determine her loyalties, and choose her future path. The Naidisbo is the first installment of a two part series that explores the inequality and injustices of present times in an action packed, romance fueled, coming of age tale.

Thanks for reading and if you decide to check it out - I hope you enjoy!
Hello and happy Sunday,
The fifth book in my series 'The Weight Of It All' is releasing in a couple days - March 1!
Book 1: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08RRVDDFT
The series has two main characters: one who has recently received his Affinity from the Goddess and is slowly learning about his abilities. The second is a more seasoned Dungeoneer, whose team spends more time in a higher Ranking dungeon for most of the story.
In book 5, both of their stories converge as they are challenged by the world around them and the prospect of war.
The series starts slow, but the stakes are rising as I close in on book 6.
The entire series is on Kindle unlimited if you want to give it a try. Have a good day and thanks for reading.
I wrote a book that fits a lot of these criteria. It's on KU and I'd love to know what you think.
It's called HEART THREADED
It's a futuristic Romeo and Juliet themed fight for humanity in a high tech world. Juliet is the daughter of the head of the biggest Corp that sells upgrades and life extensions, the currency, future heartbeats.
Romeo is a heartbeat debt hacker, who lives in the lawless underground city with links to the main opposition Corp.
Hey everyone, happy Sunday! My name is J.J. and I write a series called The Weight Of It All'. The series is a litrpg and young adult fantasy series that is available on Kindle unlimited.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08RRVDDFT
The series follows a young boy given the power to see how much things weigh after facing bullying for his weight as a child. He's sent off to a school for affinity users like himself and his world is opened up to the possibilities of dungeons and dungeoneering as a profession. As time goes on he earns new Skills and abilities, which he uses to fight monsters. Theres a lot more to the story, but that's a general idea of how it begins. The fifth book in the series releases on March 1, and by now we've seen the magic school, a tournament, tragic losses, a war starting, dungeon diving, etc. The first book is called Heavy(The Weight Of It All) and can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08RRVDDFT
Have a good day!
Would you pay for a longer life with some of your future heartbeats? The HEART THREADED company will take that debt.
Juliet's father runs that giant corporation. Romeo, is a debt hacker living underground.
When Juliet tries to do the right thing and meets Romeo, their lives and those that are HEART THREADED will never be the same.
They form a bond that transcends the inhumanity of technology.
Worth the Wreckage. It's an age-gap forbidden romance trope. It's free in Kindle Unlimited, too. Find it here.
I wrote a book and published it, it's my first published novel. And, I thought it was science fiction with inspiration from cyberpunk. But, I've been told since that it is YA Dystopian or Science Fiction, which brings me here.
The main characters are Romeo and Juliet, following very loosely the Shakespearian theme. Juliet is from wealth, and Romeo is an underground hacker, clearing people's heart beat debts. Heart beats are what people trade for upgrades and medical intervention.
In an attempt to do the right thing, Juliet meets Romeo. Their lives are changed forever as they race against the new technology being rolled out, Heart Threads, that carries more than just debts.

Daughters of Dragons https://www.amazon.com/dp/0578327090/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_glt_i_VWH5WS9RVH12NTJWBWKE?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Daughters of Dragons is an epic fantasy set in a world where humans and dragons are at odds, both vying for who should control the continent. During an unsteady peace a dragon slayer's apprentice takes her first job. Clarity lost her home and family to a dragon raid as a child but the same dragon who took everything from her gave her something powerful in return - she blessed her with her dragon spirit. Grappling with doubt, Clarity seeks the first dragon she is meant to hunt. Meanwhile the dragonblessed daughter of humanity's renowned general Diana seeks the same dragon, hoping to prove herself finally worthy of her father's favor. Their mark along with a couple of snarky rebels unveil a plot that threatens dragons and humans alike, and leads them both on a journey to the temples of the dragon queens.
This book features: > A diverse world and cast > A prominently LGBT friendly world where bisexuality is the presumed norm > Powerful and driven young women as the leads > Living with disabilities and mental health recovery are major themes (#OwnVoices) > Dragons that are intelligent and organized monarchies > Sisterhood, found families, defying norms > The main character has a cat (he's basically a colorful tiger with horns but he's a cat)
Content Advisory: My book contains discussions of mental health recovery and experiences including references self harm and suicide ideation (referenced not depicted), and PTSD (triggers and flashbacks depicted). This book also contains depictions of domestic emotional and physical abuse.
Not *technically* YAlit but I do love me a good Japanese light novel.
As a high school English lit teacher, I'd never be able to face my students again if they found out I've read stuff like Sword Art Online, lol. The prose is so bad and the story is so tropey but it's all good popcorn fun.
My fave guilty pleasure is definitely the Monogatari series. I only read the original Japanese texts tho because the translation takes out all the flavor :P
Here's a nice Western with a young female lead, I didn't think she was gullible or weak minded or anything like that.

The names of power series has 2 MCs. One is an angel, other is a lycanthrope. It is super fun to read.
Also ties in with a series from another author.
