Bird stores in your area should sell a baffle that you can put on the post that will prevent animals from climbing the post.
edit: something like this
Looks like a baby rabbit to me. The lack of fur & muscle tone makes me think it was very very young
Hasn't been in the water long though.
Tapeworm! You may see small hard pieces that look like grains of rice, too. I took in a stray kitten earlier this year who had fleas and ended up with tapeworms from grooming and ingesting them. The wait for the vet was months due to Covid so they told me to buy the same pills they’d give me if I come in and do an at home flea treatment, too. Get the dewormer pills off Amazon. They’re $14.98 there vs $24 I spent at a brick and mortar store. I think we have a sponge here. Some can be pretty hard. The “fur” is silica spicules, which sponges use for structure and defence against being eaten.

Mouse and a cute one at that :) They're annoying because they poo and pee everywhere. Try using one of these humane traps and releasing the little guy in a field or forest somewhere away from houses. I've used these traps and they work really well and they don't hurt the mouse :) https://www.amazon.com.au/Humane-Mouse-Trap-Plastic-Children/dp/B07L8JNPF2
It’s a diagnostic characteristic, so yes it’s absolute. There’s citations everywhere on it but my favorite is:
Nelson, E.W. (1909). The rabbits of North America. You can find a copy here: https://www.amazon.com/Rabbits-America-Edward-William-Nelson/dp/1167287983
Find it in powder form at pharmacies (expensive and small quantities) or ordering online, is less expensive. Don't ingest it or breathe in lots of the spray, otherwise it is harmless. It is about as corrosive as vinegar, when in solution, so watch it around finer items, brass, aluminum, etc., it will stain/etch things like that a little.
Sprinkle it dry, lightly and evenly on carpet, then use a broom or brush to distribute it into the fibers. Leave it set for about a day, then vacuum it up. You may also prepare a larvae-killing spray by adding a tablespoon of boric acid to 2 cups of hot water and stirring until the powder dissolves. Fill a plastic spray bottle with the solution, add two drops of dish detergent to the sprayer (it helps it soak in), and mist curtains, upholstery, baseboards, and dark nooks and crannies. This is it, cheap but in a fancy package: 99 % orthoboric acid. Boric acid is the common name for orthoboric acid, same thing. And bonus is, any leftover solid is fun for the kids!
You can use things like 1/4” (6mm?) galvanized steel mesh to close openings off that are larger. And get a bunch of Rubbermaid type tubs to store things, instead of cardboard boxes. Mice eat right through cardboard. Anything wood or paper based will be a food or nesting source for the mice.
You can also track mice activity with a black light, that makes urine stains fluorescent.

I get vaguely cave cricket vibes from the antennae and short, arched back and freaky long feet.
But this definitely seems like 'generic primeval chimaera monster' rather than a specific prehistoric creature.
Some names include FrogLog, (made by a US Fish&Wildlife employee) and Scamper Ramp. Here is another design. Many types available on Amazon as well as various other places on the internet
They absolutely are. The book is Friends and it's full of unusual but adorable pairings.
What should I buy for it? I'm not sure about the tank and more. Would this be good? https://www.amazon.com/Penn-Plax-Turtle-Tank-Topper/dp/B01C3669M6/ref=sr_1_2?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1504384603&sr=1-2&keywords=red%2Beared%2Bslider%2Bturtle%2Btank&th=1
