From my perspective, it seemed like people saw that healing injury, blamed you before checking in on the rescue status, and then came in really hot in the comments. Motivated from a good place of wanting to ensure your snake was being well cared for, but misdirected. I didn't see you reacting defensively or anything, just letting people know what was going on in spite of people coming at you.
Glad you got a better viv set up, and good luck with that light installed! Slightly related tangent, I like to keep my viv light connected to one of these timer plug type deals to regulate day/night lighting.
Looking forward to seeing more of Tesoro around! My carpet python is named Puppy, and here's a couple photos from a time we went to the park together. Obviously you need to be careful with taking your pet out, but it can be a great enrichment activity if done with care and appropriate supervision.
No UV needed! For best color pop and vibrance, look for a bulb/lamp at a pet store that is "full spectrum".
A digital thermostat will have a temperature probe included. When that probe signals the thermostat it's below the target temperature, it will flip on the heating element you plug into it. The reason you want to have an external thermometer in addition to the thermostat is that occasionally, their probes can end up reading wrong, and leave on a heating element longer than it should. You want to have an external thermometer so you can catch it if that happens, and replace the defective thermostat. Here's a great example on amazon for $10. I like it because it has both temperature and humidity, and it's a 3-pack so you can have warm side/cool side/middle gauges.
If you want to get even more high tech, you can get a temperature gun which would allow you to check surface temperatures instantly anywhere in the enclosure. This is an additional purchase, not a replacement for the probes - you need something to gauge humidity anyway.
This article by Scott Borden is pretty good. The article is about Jungles but the general care is pretty much the same for all of them except Diamonds. Buy The Complete Carpet Python if you want the nitty gritty.
