Welcome to the club! clusterheads.com has some great resources. If you have Android, use the "My Cluster Headache" app to log your headaches. You're going to think you'll remember them, but you won't. It's very interesting to see the graph after a couple of weeks.
Hope the prednisone helps! Unfortunately, there is not one medicine that works for everyone. For me, it's Verapamil, others swear by the Vitamin D regimen, and others use psychedelics. O2 is widely regarded as the best abortive.
If anyone cares, this is the massage gun I bought from Groupon.
Here's some further reading about efficacy. I can't comment on the legality in every province/state in every nation. But I get mine from Quebec.

Here's Dr Passie, a visiting neurologist at Harvard Medical, on the topic of LSD & the alternatives for E.C.H. treatment.
As you mentioned neither really fit into your lifestyle, but it seems like for most you don't have to be "fully" tripping. One can micro dose. If you do not have access to shrooms, clusterbusters.org has mentioned injestesting morning glory or rivea corymbosa seeds as well. They behave similar to lsd I believe. You can purchase them online. If not:
Sinus Plumber Headache Nasal Spray – Headache Formula https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XDMGYZM/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_glt_i_TNP2RX7P8NVQAVVMRRZB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Although this spray is not pleasant, it helps treat the pain for a few minutes.
Ask the doctor for spg block treatments
CGA 840 for smaller tanks, CGA 540 for bigger tanks. You want 0-15 LPM, not 8. https://www.amazon.com/CGA-540-Style-Oxygen-Regulator/dp/B006GERK0M/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=cga+540+0+15&qid=1622075841&sr=8-1
I recently bought one of these, had my own mask already, and bought a 300 size tank from a supplier.
And unlike the guys above I dont tell them anything. If they do ask, I "weld for art." They dont give a shit what its for.
I'm pretty sure Amazon has this stuff.. added below: ice pack face masks
Kimkoo Gel Eye Mask Cold Pads&Cool Compress for Puffy Eyes and Dry Eye,Cooling Eye Ice Masks Gel https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F1MPVGC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_MHlsCbKF4FYTB
Face Eye Mask Gel Cold Pack – Reduce Puffiness, Bags Under Eyes, Puffy Dark Circles, Migraine - Therapeutic Heat and Ice Compress with Cover - for Sleep, Sinus Pressure, Headaches, Skin Care - Purple https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0751FW5YL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_4HlsCb66KET51
I use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.healint.migraineapp
They even have a "Type" field where you can specify "Migraine, Tension, Cluster Headache or Other", it keeps track of the weather (temp, pressure and I think humidity) during the attack, you can try to find triggers, etc. It's really a great tool, it does ask a lot of questions, but you don't have to put any of it in (just start/end times).
You can buy canned oxygen on amazon and at certain pharmacies. I found both sizes at CVS
have your doctor check your Vagus nerve. ive noticed that if i stimulate that nerve, i can mimic/reproduce the headaches i get in my eye. its absolutely miserable, but i can reproduce them with one of those pulsing massage guns things like this: https://www.amazon.com/Percussion-Brushless-opove-G3-Pro/dp/B07TVCF86M
if you care to experiment, try it. i will say that I am not a doctor, and you should absolutely go to your doctor and ask before doing anything, im just giving you my anecdotal experience with headaches that doctors cant identify (the headache specialist team at the VA have classified mine as a hybrid migraine/cluster)
I shit you not: I went to Jacksonville from Orlando the first year I had Cluster to see Mayo Clinic. You know what they suggested seriously and without recommending triptans or oxygen?
https://www.amazon.com/Sinus-Plumber-Headache-Nasal-Spray/dp/B01LMPJXUY
Capsaicin nasal spray. Railing hot peppers. Yes, this was seriously medically guidanced to me while still a clusternoob.
Dunno if it works, I'll be damned if I'll rail hot pepper on top of a cluster attack... that's like Inception levels of pain compounding on one another there. Fuck no.
Lol "Sinus Plumber"... wtf even.
Haha, it's okay. I'm sure at this point I turned into that annoying antagonist that makes terrible jokes and is the "rough" one to the point of being unavailable at certain times. Isn't the body amazing?
Some humor goes a long way.
Where would any of us be without someone to rant to that understands?
This is the cans but I imagine the oxygen tank is better: Boost Oxygen Supplemental Oxygen to Go | All-Natural Respiratory Support for Health, Wellness, Performance, Recovery and Altitude (5 Liter Canister, 4 Pack, Natural) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08562MH82/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_B1GY7AJFNZHE8JPEEK1D
You're welcome! I hope it goes decent.
they're readily available on amazon. I'd just choose any one with a gauge and a plastic cup you fill with water that the oxygen flows through first.
I have one like this but honestly just about any one will do as long as it can handle up to like 15 liters per minute (the one in my link does) as you want that sweet sweet high flow.
the mask you will likely buy separately, just go with the cheapest non-rebreather mask.
in a lot of ways this condition is somehow worse on loved ones, so thank you for being a good spouse.
All great comments which I won’t repeat.
I buy my Methyl Folate + at amazon. It is currently out of stock. The next best brand is at the following link. https://www.amazon.com/Super-B-Complex-Methylated-Vitamins-Methylcobalamin/dp/B01787EPEE/ref=sr_1_4?crid=U5KNFD9ZFFNK&keywords=Methyl%2BFolate%2BB%2BComplex&qid=1641535587&s=hpc&sprefix=methyl%2Bfolate%2Bb%2Bcomplex%2Chpc%2C180&sr=1-4&th=1
Hope this helps. Take care, V/R, Batch
> a sensitivity to light is not something that is caused by a cluster attack.
Not true.
Light sensitivity with CH is generally listed as a possible symptom. When I was having regular CH I couldn't stand any bright light or anything more than soft noises.

> Cluster headache patients report photophobia ictally and interictally, but only during their cluster period.3 This suggests that cluster patients experience reversible changes in the neural substrates involved,

>Some migraine-like symptoms — including sensitivity to light and sound — can occur with a cluster headache, though usually on one side.
I have this alarm clock that mimics a sunrise or sunset, to trick your internal clock. Works amazing during time changes.
This is the one I have. Lots of different variations.
You can get vitamin d3 at almost any pharmacy. It’s just a supplement. Your body absorbs natural vitamin d3 from the sun but hey you can eat it now too. It feels like it gives me a little energy too which is nice idk maybe I’m trippin. You can also get it on amazon. It did work for me and I take one every day now. This is the one I bought:
Vitamin D3 (2000iu/50mcg) Infused with Coconut Oil ~ Non-GMO & Gluten Free (360 Mini Liquid Softgels) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017TAU3XM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_N3iVEbRWHBA2G
You want a flow rate of oxygen that is at least 8, but ideally between 10-15 liters per minute (lpm). Some people say hyperventilating into a non-rebreather mask is important for fast effectiveness.
>Thanks! I just downloaded a migraine tracking app to help with a diary of sorts
Have you tried the My Cluster Headache app (Android)? I believe it's made by one of the redditors here (I could be wrong though). It's free and very handy.
>Yes, the super severe pain is the only thing I do not match. Not sure if I just have a high pain tolerance?
Pain is subjective of course. I don't think I haven't had a 10 yet (mainly because I've never felt suicidal). You could check the Kip scale to help "rate" the pain level.
