Please consider disabling new account sign-ups on https://ctemplar.com/ until all users who lost their accounts have them restored.
If you don't disable new account sign-ups you will get a real mess when someone signs up with a username belonging to an existing user.
Please find correct info here
https://stacksocial.com/sales/ctemplar-prime-plan-lifetime-subscription
Please note that the ongoing promotion is only available for CTemplar signups made by our deal partners. The promotional code can only be applied via the partner deal page and not on an existing CTemplar account. Thank you
as much as i want to see this privacy oriented email being successful, their pricing is one of the expensive ones in the industry.
You guys really should revise the pricing strategy. And i dont like seeing lifetime subscription on stacksocial as well.

Hey, thanks for this, really appreciate it. Funny you should send this now, I went for the basic paid plan only yesterday lol.
I am with you on every point you make; I guess we are quite the average user. I have several domains with several different users (individuals) across those domains so I am waiting for the business feature which is supposed to be presented in June. I too have been pleased with their improvements so far so looking forward to June. I have tolerated TN for years, hoping they'd grow up but they haven't. And like you, I find their cult-like fans a real turn-off. Not liking the way they are going at all. But I'll tolerate them a few more months to see how ctemplar is doing. I've abandonned mailbox.org, since.
Again, thanks for the heads up. Very useful.
EDIT: what worries me a bit about ctemplar is their funding model. Have you seen the size of that team?? I posted this and a few questions on this subreddit but never got a reply. Shame.
Mailbox.org
For those who need an alternative to CTemplar. I suggest considering https://mailbox.org/en/
I do not have a conflict of interest with Mailbox.org I am just a customer happy with their services.
Some interesting points here. I myself use Tutanota and CTemplar, but have moved to Protonmail for now. To my surprise, you only have to complete a few simple steps to get 1 GB of free cloud space. I always thought 500 MB was their maximum which is why I never tried their free service before.
So far I am quite liking it. I do like Tuta as well but I agree, they seem to be lacking quite a lot of basic features which would be really nice. I'm going to let my membership run down til near renewal and if Protonmail continues to impress, I might move over there to one of the subscription services.
I tried Mailbox.org too but I hated the user interface. It was all very dated looking. Maybe it's better now. I'm not sure.
Other than Ctemplar ProtonMail is the only other one I can think of with similar or identical privacy laws. Switzerland is outside EU jurisdiction as well.
There was some news about providing law enforcement with an IP address last year but if you use TOR to signup they shouldn’t be able to provide anything accurate.
The request they received was lawful and they had to comply in order to run their business but the loophole is use TOR or a Swiss based VPN such as ProtonVPN which under Swiss law is illegal to provide logs to law enforcement they could get shutdown for doing that plus damage to their reputation.
The subpoena also had to be approved by a judge in the Geneva Canton irrelevant of where it came from.
I don’t want to seem like I’m shilling ProtonMail because I’m not it’s the only alternative I can think of outside 14 eye territory if anyone has a suggestion I’ll add look into it. All I can say is from my experience PM has been good.
Hello!
It's possible that your submission was removed due to our security issue policy.

Please report it accordingly and you might be entitled to compensation.
Thank you!
Thank you for reaching out.
You cannot add two separate accounts to the CTemplar mobile app or PC. You can only add one account, upgrade to paid feature, add domain and aliases to it. All addresses can be used within the app.
If you create a second account it will log out the first account session and have only the second account logged in because you can use only one account at a time on the CTemplar platform. The second account will not be under the 1st primary account because they are both different accounts and they cannot be logged in at the same time.
If you have one paid account, to use your personal address you need to set up a custom domain account using the guide instruction here. If you are having an issue setting this correctly, please reach out to for guide assistance. Thank you
> The easy one: What does "AnonAddy support" mean?
Some of our users wish to use the https://anonaddy.com/ services. However, they are receiving illegible emails.
> The hard one: Can you clarify what "autocrypt" is? I'm under the impression that it means if we send an email to a non-CTemplar user, you'll automatically scan known key databases to see if they have a public key and use it if available.
Autocrypt works differently from WKD, which is what you mention by ("(...) automatically scan known key databases to see if they have a public key and use it if available"). (We have a blog post about it.)[https://ctemplar.com/what-is-autocrypt-and-why-ctemplar-adopted-it/]. In sum, Autocrypt does it's best to attempt message encryption, but always prefers readability over encryption, which is why some messages in sent with Autocrypt enabled might not be encrypted.
Wikipedia also explains this: Autocrypt-capable email clients transparently negotiate encryption capabilities and preferences and exchange keys between users alongside sending regular emails. (...) When a message is encrypted to a group of receivers, keys are also automatically sent to all receivers in this group. This ensures that a reply to a message can be encrypted without any further complications or work by the user.
Hello!
Outlook will handle this in the same way as it would any regular email IMAP account.
The end-to-end encryption will have to be done in the user's end.
https://www.openpgp.org/software/
We plan to make some step-by-step instructions to help our users with their PGP keys soon after IMAP is available.
Hello!
This question was already answered here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ctemplar/comments/q2y1sf/question_is_my_ctemplar_account_linked_to_those_i/
And here: https://ctemplar.com/help/answer/request-an-invite/
The answer is no. We do not correlate or track any invite codes. The invites are generated and then deleted after being used or by inactivity.
Please do feel free to create a Reddit throwaway and ask for an invite.
Hello!
We address here, why we have opted for an invite system: https://ctemplar.com/email-creation-restriction/
I have sent an invite to you.
Let us know if you have any other questions!
Thank you!
Hello!
> So, if CTemplar is all about privacy, how come they monitor account inactivity?
This has to do with hardware limitations. We can not keep expanding indefinitely for our free users.
Check here for more details: https://ctemplar.com/help/answer/inactive-account-policy/
> What else they monitor then? Strange, isn't it?
We do not monitor anything else. Please do check our privacy policy.
Feel free to let me know if you have more questions!
If I may make a few suggestions: *Now that Germany has ruled that Posteo MUST log its users, we no longer have an easily accessible privacy conscious email provider that meets FSF standards for respecting user freedom i.e. not requiring proprietary JS and so on to use. I think you could get some customers who are looking to replace Posteo if you make your website LibreJS compatible. Getting on https://www.fsf.org/resources/webmail-systems would be a good endorsement, I think, as would getting on https://www.privacytools.io/ *For the especially privacy minded people, I think allowing Monero would be a good idea. Another thing done by some other privacy focused services is allowing people to pay by sending money in the mail. *For your Android app, I think it would be a good idea to make an F-Droid compatible version (or make it compatible with free software clients like K9Mail) so that users of OSes like Replicant or LineageOS without GAPPs do not have to rely on any Google services *Not related to the email service itself, but you might find an audience on a decentralized social media service like Mastodon Overall though, I am glad to see more genuinely privacy minded services arise.
Hello!
We would like to inform that both login and registration on our .onion domain is unavailable due to an ongoing issue with the Tor Browser itself.
We have to wait for the Tor team to address it.
In the meantime, you can still use the Tor Browser on our clearnet domain - https://ctemplar.com/
Thank you!
Hello!
This is just to save some time from having to decrypt the email header each time you login to your email account.
You can read more here: https://ctemplar.com/help/answer/temporary-store-decrypted-data/
Thanks for getting back to us on your request.
Learn how this works on CTemplar following the link below.
https://ctemplar.com/help/answer/setting-up-a-dead-mans-timer/
Let us know if you need further assistance. Thank you
An account that would let you create a custom domain name costs $8/month or $72/year. CTemplar is more expensive than the other services primarily because we refuse Government investments and so we are not able to discount the prices with government money. I explain it in more detail on this page.
Tutanota is a great service and they are run by a solid team. I am sorry to hear about the DDOS attack they are dealing with.
I sent you two invite codes for free accounts, one for yourself and one for your wife.
Kind Regards,
On the page:
https://ctemplar.com/everything-about-anonymous-email-youll-ever-need-to-know/
there's an issue. Under the header Creating an Anonymous Email Account with CTemplar it says "is impossible to encrypt using standard methods", it should of course say decrypt in that snippet.
Here's a comparison table we've made. It doesn't include Mailfence or disroot and I'm going to add them in the near future. The main thing is Mailfence and disroot have access to reading your emails. https://ctemplar.com/ctemplar-comparison-table/
This is a very good comment! I've added it to our development schedule and you'll see us track it on future development schedule reddit posts.
What you write is encrypted in your browser, our server doesnt see your plaintext content. We are not able to decrypt it either. So no one will ever be able to access your emails. We also support encrypted subjects, contacts and we're working on encrypted metadata.
Let me know any other comments or questions, I appreciate the #2 item you shared. Kind Regards,
Hello Godfrey,
I just came across your product on my ISP's blog. Love to try something new, and possibly great as well.
Oh, ..I noticed that <em>https://ctemplar.com</em> has three home buttons!! I will press them all ;-)
Hello thanks for your interest. We sit outside the 5 eyes, and we have lots of other security features we are proud of that you can read about on our security page .
We also have the best looking security team in the industry... An I often use my six-pack ab muscles as a cutting board for carrots... ok that’s my attempt at a joke:)
The apps have been in closed beta about 3 months, their now in open beta. We wanted to eliminate all the bugs we could find before we let anyone else use the apps and we feel we have done that. If you use the apps I don’t think you’ll encounter any bad bugs, but I think you’ll absolutely make comments about the apps that we incorporate for one reason or another. What I’m trying to say is I think the apps need polishing. If you want to help polish the apps we would love to have your help. If not then I completely understand and it’s best to give the apps time before you use them.
Kind Regards to you,
Hello Diligent-Taro,
We probably will not offer tools to aid people switching from Protonmail to CTemplar because I don't want to risk creating in-fighting within the privacy community. Additionally, Protonmail is a great team member to the privacy community, we've written about their ongoing contributions on our blog.
So to answer your question, no we do not have any easy ways to import messages from PM and we probably won't add it. I hope it is understandable but if not send me a message
You can read about it here & click on the boxes for more details https://posteo.de/en/site/encryption But like I said, I'm not up on the lingo so you'd prob make more sense of it than I could. :)
One thing I did notice is that their two factor authentication is only for the webmail, not mobile or IMAP integration.
Highly privacy focussed:
Try disroot.org. They have pop and imap free (rare). This is the one that I have been most happy with.
autistici.org too is good, but they are too serious and you may not be able to get an account.

Commercial:
Proton is good and I have an account, but I rarely use it because it has no pop/imap for free users, have to use web interface.
Ctemplar, tutanota - again no pop/imap.
This is something we plan on implementing in the future. If I had to guess when we will publish these features... I would say near the end of 2020. We'll be publishing our development schedule in the next 24hrs and you can see what we're working on.
If you want a good IMAP email service I would suggest mailbox.org. I haven't used them but I have heard good things about their IMAP implementation.
Kind regards to you,
