I've seen this elian font before at FontStruct.com .
Elian Modern by corvett Apparently by our very own /u/corvett !
You are right to include the calligraphic aspect which is completely bonded to the script. Technically it's an alternative writing system with a calligraphic component to it, which has to be "drawn" out by getting into the forms of the line in a more deliberate way.
With Latin letters the calligraphic component is a separate handling of them and is obvious because there is an effort to make it beautiful (calligraphy means "beautiful writing" - http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=calligraphy)
With Asian writing, like Elian script, the aesthetic potential is also naturally bonded to it because it is made of lines rather than specific symbols (as in Latin alphabet or mathematics.)
It's beautiful and modernistic! I really like the style of your third grid. Here's my elian fontstruct you reminded me I had made 2 years ago... "elian square" on fonstruct
Ha, actually I first wanted to edit the constellation definitions in Stellarium (to connect the actual stars in the night sky forming Elian characters) until I realized that I know not a Iota about how to do that and finally settled for a shoddy Pinta job.
Maybe I’ll try to get it done on a free day and put up a tutorial here.
