Sad to say, I did not manage to 4-job. The combination of endless random combats and not-quite-turn-based combat really wore me out after a while.
BUT, in the month of July, I did find a pretty great gem: Dragon's Blade. It's 100% free on Android. I guess it was around years ago as a Windows Phone app. It's JRPG style and it does have endless random combats, which I don't like, but the combat itself never moves forward without you, and that's really important to me. Fun game!
The Bethesda Elder Scrolls CCG came out recently. It's fun, and very similar to Hearthstone with a couple little differences. It's only a matter of time before a game like this wears me out (mostly in the quest for the "perfect" deck build), so money spent will be minimal or none.
And I also went to San Diego Comic Con for the first time ever. That was an experience!!
Working my way though mostly previously open projects.

A Random Walk Down Wall Street: Not my usual fair: a guide for money management and investment. I was given this book last year when I told my mom about my fear of dying penniless because of poor money management. I got about two third through it then gave up. It's very... dense? It uses it's own language, so I went back and forth trying to figure out the meanings. It's not poorly written or super technical, it's just not something I think about usually. Regardless, I'm finishing it now. I'm reading the "How-To" guide, where the previous section was the "Why-To" information. It's great at describing all the investments you can get, but colors your opinion before describing how they work (I think that's unfortunate). This book pushed Index funds and diversified portfolios like crazy. I've always liked the idea of Index funds, unfortunately my guy doesn't and he's only willing to give me a stock portfolio full of stocks that he personally likes. It's like talking to a wall. I think I need a new guy.
Dragon Reborn Audio book: Third book in the Wheel of Time Series. The story is really going now, just like I remember. I've read all the way through to the fifth book (it might be fourth) so I kind of remember all this stuff, but I'm sure picking up on some details that I missed the first time around.
Rob, there was a reason for the dark elves being in space ships. I got really really into Thor: Dark World one night and ended up writting way too long of a review which I'm oddly proud of? Basically, the Asgardians represent the fantasy, belief in honor and causes. The Dark Elves represent the sci-fi, raw unemotional calculus. We are stuck in the middle, and because of our inability to claim either side we are completely ineffective. Also, we don't live for millions of years. It's not a great reason, but if you really think way too hard about it, it is there.
I've been using this app to keep track of my backlog; I've been hitting "random" on my to-play list and have passed up on a few suggestions before (either because I want to handle them last, like Morrowind, or because I wanted a change of pace after drawing multiple action-heavy titles in a row or some such). Taking it more of a suggestion than anything.
RetroPie is a great site for this, and I found this through a simple Google search: Wireless 360 on RetroPie
You're welcome. :D
Yeah, it looks like Pandemic legacy is ~$50 which is what I think I got it for too. I don't generally remember board game prices since they vary so much. But, I buy most of my games on Amazon since they're almost always cheaper there.
I would highly suggest checking out this Shut Up and Sit Down review of the game. It's one of the things that sold me on it.
I've written about it a bit before, but I do enjoy watching gaming competitions to a degree - especially more physical ones like Dance Dance Revolution competitions. I'm still not necessarily comfortable calling them a sport, but my thoughts on professional sports as a whole are kind of mixed, anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I did read The Sequels, which Geektitude covered a bit ago! It's a great all-in-one-volume story, albeit I think I might have gotten a bit more out of it if I was more steeped in '80s nostalgia.
Also finished FFIX, which was the last of the single-player ones! As lovable as the early-game party is, the story really picks up in the back half. Some pacing issues, but otherwise it's a super-charming JRPG built on a solid foundation.
