No sir, that's a grill. For example you can find job listings for a grill cook but there are no griddle cook jobs because it's called a grill.
I've worked a grill in Baltimore and in Portland OR so I dont think it's a coastal thing at least. Waffle House is southern and they hire grill cooks too.

Best pans I've ever had. They've lasted the longest too. Normally I find them at Homegoods or TjMaxx but they're pretty cheap on amazon. There's no sense in paying more than you have to.

No joke, I had that exact same knife. Cheap as hell on Amazon when I bought it. Reliable for what it is. OIL THE HANDLE IT BEFORE YOU USE IT. It will rot quickly if not, causing the discoloration shown in the video. V cheaply made.

I'm originally from San Diego and my husband is from the Midwest. We met in Reno and whenever we visited his family we would have get togethers and it seemed like everyone brought stuff from Aldi. I had never heard of it before and just figured maybe it was a local grocer.
When we moved out to the Midwest I figured I'd finally go to Aldi and see what all the fuss was about.
Oh my gosh. The prices are so reasonable and the quality of most of their food is great! I do probably 75% of my grocery shopping there now, especially since I work across the street from one. They don't have a huge meat or seafood selection so I tend to go to Hy-Vee (also a great chain grocer!) for that type of stuff and some other things I can't find at Aldi.
I remember reading that Aldi and Trader Joe's operate under the same corporate umbrella. It makes sense since they have the similar practice of selling mostly their own brand products with a few brand name exceptions.
You might be seeing Aldi in California in the future. :-)
I do miss the abundance of ethnic / cultural grocery stores in San Diego, especially H-Mart and Ranch 99. Fortunately, there is an H-Mart a bit more than an hour away from here so my husband and I make a stop there whenever we visit friends in the area.

As for the grilled cheese, I like a crusty bread, smear goat cheese on it. spoon on melted butter with a hint of something spicy (cajun seasoning mix or cayenne) and an herb like sage. Grill. Enjoy.

I have for a long time wanted to get a line of panani presses and rebrand them as grilled cheese machines and sell them with a cook book, which would basically be a poster. Yeah, just a poster that lists different things.
cooking agents: nothing, oil, butter
breads: whatever, jesus, you can work it out
cheese: yes
meats: why not, you do you
sauces: mayo, mustage, hot sauce, whatever
Instructions, let the thing heat up. Assemble the sandwich. Put it on. When it is done, take it off. Eat it. It isn't hard.
This is just a regular toaster with a basket. You can do a pseudo grilled cheese in a toaster using one of these bags - or just wrap it neatly in parchment paper (NOT wax paper). For best results, turn the toaster on it's side so the cheese doesn't all end up at the bottom.

No not usually. It’s hardly the same pan twice. I have a cast iron weight that sometimes is at hand. All I own are cast iron or stainless steel pans. They all have some heft to them. My general rule is to find one that just fits over the outside diameter of the bread used and isn’t super light. My suggestion is a single sandwich press. There are other sizes and price points of course. Just something fairly heavy.
I usually use Mayo. But, I also have a butter wheel for burgers, toast, and my daughters’ grilled cheeses.
You might need a new pan. The $15 Lodge cast iron skillet is perfect for grilled cheese. Get the $40 Combo Cooker and you can make soup at the same time.

It works really well actually. The problem is that it's awful to clean. The cheese gooshes out into the hinges and wiring and around the edge onto the counter. If you reduce the amount of cheese enough for it to cook clean, it's barely "grilled cheese" at all. The issue isn't the cheese, it's the steam that forces the cheese out through the seams.
It's easier to just use a frying pan.
