I've used a Dymo LabelWriter extensively for barcoding (and a piss ton of other labeling needs). The labels I used were ~15mm x 30mm (1/2" x 1"), so not quite what you were looking for, but they're readily available and very cost effective. They had some "price tag" options that were smaller that might work for you though (see here).
upstream sent too big header
is not a grocy problem, but one of your (probably nginx) reverse proxy.
It's about the nginx setting proxy_buffer_size.
There has to be an error somewhere, the meal plan is "just" a FullCalendar week view calendar.
If it's ok for you and you can get out the database file (data/grocy.db
) of the container (personally can't help with containers), feel free to send me that and I will have a look.
Sounds like you have a good system that works for you.
I'm still getting started with grocy, but I like the idea of basic inventory management. I'm not sure my family will ever use it to its full potential, but I think it's really helpful for tracking non-perishables that are used less frequently and can sit on the shelf long enough to leave our memory. If we buy an onion for a recipe, there's not a huge benefit of entering it into grocy, but if we have jars of neglected but unexpired pasta sauce, grocy might help us plan meals and store runs.
The other thing I'm looking for is a good way to track regular but infrequent chores, like changing air filters, water softener salt, etc. I'm sure there are plenty of other apps and methods out there, but everyone has to see what fits into their personal system. I think integrating grocy data into Home Assistant will be key for me to get good reminders. I've tried setting calendar reminders, but once I dismiss the notification, I tend to never look back.
Fundamentally, I don't think grocy is any different from your system of setting a to-do item when you notice something being low, but grocy does have the potential for more sophisticated tracking, and with enough use, it could give significant benefits with food waste and spending habits, much like fitness tracking apps improving some peoples' workout habits.
I wish there were a good iOS app. There's a probably decent Android app, but I haven't used it. There is a grocy iOS Shortcut made by eazy, and so far it seems promising. I think those kinds of quick, low-effort interactions are what can make grocy way better than to-do lists, but it takes a lot of up-front effort.
Hi, I'm the developer of Barcode Buddy.
The main objective is to make it easier to pass barcodes to grocy, either with a physical barcode scanner or with the Android app. Once more barcodes are associated with grocy products, Barcode Buddy will have more value.
The reason why I created this project was so that after getting my groceries I could simply scan all products with my barcode scanner without needing to open grocy.
Also when I am consuming something, I just need to scan the barcode, knowing that the product is removed from the grocy inventory.
Personally I use generic grocy products (eg. the product "Chocolate" for all different brands and kinds of chocolate). If I now scan a new chocolate bar where the barcode has not been associated with the product Chocolate yet, Barcode Buddy will look up the name of the item I just scanned. You can associate words with products ("tags"), so if I associated the word "chocolate" with the Product Chocolade, the product Chocolate will be preselected and I can simply click on "Add" to add the item to grocy and associate the barcode with the product.
The next time I scan the chocolate, it will automatically be consumed (or purchased if you are in purchase mode).
If you have any other questions, let me know ;)
I just found this android app, which should work with the python barcode add-on (sending GET queries)

Haven't tested it yet
