Once you go coily you never go back.
That isn’t actually my floor. It’s foam flooring (you probably had it in your kindergarten class) which is sitting on top of my hardwood floor. You can find it here.
Best way to explain is for you to listen.
(I'm building one of my own because I love it so much)
Edit: Here's another one I'd forgotten about. The playing is nowhere as good as Guthrie Govan's, but it shows the way a fretless guitar can be used in heavier, more hard rock music. Oh, and as a bonus: That fretless is 3D printed. Way cool.
It says the name of it in the soundhole. Johnson JG-650-BL. It's Chinese made and with a different Johnson logo, it won't be rare. These companies produce in volume. It'll be difficult to date it.
Here it is in another colour - https://www.amazon.com/Johnson-JG-650-TB-Thinbody-Acoustic-Guitar/dp/B004WDQ8EI
thats a Schecter Hellraiser Solo-6 from 2009. Its about 400-600$ second hand depending on its condition.

Don't pay attention to the echo chamber, bro. This is an awesome guitar. I little lighter fluid or a goo gone-type product will take the adhesive right off without damaging the poly finish. Just make sure you clean the area thoroughly afterwards. Also, of you do still want/need a pick holder, check out the wedgie style ones. Super cheap, super effective, and no adhesive!
I bought a box of these based on advice gotten here. They work great on my couple of guitars that have issues retaining their straps.

looks like a cross between a lute and a guitar. hybrid string instruments are fairly common. there are mandolin-banjos, guitar-ukes, etc. try any two, at some point someone probably made at least one.
i'd be surprised if it actually plays in tune though, judging from the missing frets it was probably intended to be decorational, as frets typically don't just fall out.
edit: and the base, that base makes me think "ornamental".
I don't like the bent steel saddles, tend to put on low friction block ones like these.

Not anything formally written up, but this is pretty much it: I stain the wood with LMII analine dyes and for this guitar I finished with this stuff, wet sanded up to about 2000-3000 then buffed with polishing compounds. All it really takes is a good piece of figured maple, the dying process doesn't have to be complicated if the wood already looks great. There's all kinds of tutorials on this kind of thing though, I've seen some good stuff on youtube for sure!
It looks amazing! Great guitars too.
I'm just wondering why didn't you use those guitar holders that are in an angle like this one?
You could put all the other guitars too :P

If you're cheap and want to risk it, try some "magnetic paint" from Amazon or a hardware store. my understanding is both shield paint and magnetic paint are both just paints with a ton of iron in them. One is intended to let you stick magnets on your painted surface the other is supposed absorb electromagnetic interference.
Can you take them off?
Try to put some 3-in-1 oil into them when they are off the guitar. If working that in does not help it might be time to replace them.
Tuning pegs are not that unreasonable. They are even on amazon. The hard part is to find the style you want. Here you want 3 left / 3 right. I never had a CV Tele neck so I can't compare it to that. However, I had a CV Strat and the 50s Tele Lacquered neck is definitely chunkier than the CV Strat neck.
The Amazon listing I purchased it from lists it as a vintage C shape: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076CMPCYK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1
Since the routing for the wiring is already there in the body, and you are talking about working with a luthier to get it fixed up...
I would put a killswitch there. You would think it'd be fairly cheap since the routing in the body is already done. Always wanted to have one of those because....ok there is absolutely no reason but it would be cool. It also saves everyone asking about it.
Pretty sure this is the exact one I changed to - really glad I did it, it sounds and feels awesome, would definitely recommend
Hey, idk if by “unknown” you mean small brand most people wouldn’t know, or that you don’t know, but in case it’s the latter, I think it’s this: one here
Yeah starting in 1998 the Gothic series initially offered a SG, ES-135, ES-335, Explorer, and Flying V. After a year they also added the Les Paul to the lineup, though all of the original brochures don’t include it.
I didn't buy it on amazon but this is cheap. Its a quality pickguard. as part of this project I did a lot of shit to it and it was durable and multi ply
Yeah I did, I changed it to a brass 36mm one. It fit pretty good with the bridge plate, you kinda have to twist the tremelo arm a bit to get it in, but its alright for me since I barely use it anyways. https://www.amazon.com/Musiclily-10-5mm-Tremolo-Squier-Electric/dp/B08LD3177W/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2UDBCMNCVSFXD&keywords=musiclily%2Bbrass%2B36mm&qid=1652836495&sprefix=musiclil%2Bbrass%2B36mm%2Caps%2C80&sr=8-3&th=1 this is the one I got.
I'm still thinking about it. The tuners seem to "slip" quite a bit, I'm tuning up each time I play. It may just be that they have never been used - the guitar still had the plastic protection on in some places. If they improve, and work normally, I think I would keep them, they're surprisingly smooth. If not, I'll probably get these I've had a few sets before, and they've been decent.
Here is the link from Amazon, I actually picked it it up for my fiancee to learn, she loves it. It's a surprisingly well made little uke, especially at the price. Was extremely impressed when we unboxed it. Would recommend. oh nice- what color does the 777 have? Any pictures?
For the Fretboard itself I use the Dunlop Cleaner + a cloth, usually thats brings out most of the dirt (you may have to do it several times, but it cleans very well) and then I use the deep conditioner afterwards to oil the fretboard again (its pretty much the same as lemon oil is) https://www.amazon.com/Dunlop-6502-Formula-Guitar-Fingerboard/dp/B0002E1I2I
As for the Frets, I use just a random chrome steel polish that you also can use for things in the kitchen for example. For most dirt, that with a microfiber cloth works well - if its really really dirty you can use of of those scotch brite thingy's. Just make sure you tape the fretboard properly before you use it, so the fretboard is not getting any of the polish or scotch brite scratches on it.
Thanks!
The lacquer and polish are all from Stewmac: I used the Colortone sanding sealer, "sunburst black" tinted lacquer, and gloss lacquer cans as well as the "Fine" and "Swirl Remover" polishing compounds.
The rotary polisher I used is a cheap(ish) one from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F6X56GG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
Say no more!
Found it on Amazon, ordering it right now.
You are corrupting me. If my wife asks were I just spent $850, I'm blaming you!
This is the one in the picture. I believe they are all mahogany, but the middle stand is definitely a bit darker. the stand on the right is actually the same color as the one on the left, but I didn't put any wood polish on it before I took this photo, and it's the oldest stand. They will get like that after a while, but it should come with polish that makes it look even better than brand new after application.

Unfortunately, I needed to sand the bottoms flat as they were curved. I would recommend pick-up rings with a flat-ish base for this body.
You can also use something like this to hold the bridge up while you change the strings. But a piece of cork (wine bottle cork cut in half) works as well.

Specifically: Frisco Cactus Cat Scratching Post $17.10 on Chewy
alright, you trying to do this on the cheap? here's my picks for what i've used:
these work excellent.
as for a middle pickup... try this:
I think this should do well - you'd spend less than 75 for everything, it's all 4 conductor wiring for more fun, and that middle pickup could be pretty cool too. the humbuckers are all alnico 5 magnets, offer a really really good sound. I've built my LP clone "swamp thing" with these. the blade pickup is a humbucker, i believe its a ceramic magnet which will just be pure ball sack big dick energy. as far as your wiring options go, id make those toggle switches do coil splitting, and make sure the middle position is isolated, so it's just middle pickup, that will give that cermaic mofo it's time to shine. keep your positions wired up standard for 2, 4 positions so middle + bridge or middle + neck, cause you know, its a 5 way, why not!
hope that helps homie.
There are tons of products for it. I’ve always used the Gibson branded stuff (most of my guitars are Gibsons), but it isn’t really all that different from something like this:
I've also considered Squier (Fender Bullet) Telecaster (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TFR8XBR/) or Fender Squier Bullet Stratocaster HSS (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CY6PHCT/) or SSS. I'd be looking at twice as much or more.
There was a half good reason for doing this, which was that the tele deluxe has a curved strat style neck pocket, which means if i wanted a fender neck which drops straight in, i'd have to get one with 'Stratocaster' on the headstock.
Once that arrived i sanded off the front, masked/taped up the entire guitar and used some of this on the exposed wood.
Then I threw on a few layers of clear acrylic before applying a print-at-home waterslide decal, found here. Acrylic over the top of that, then done :)
Surprisingly well. I was worried about this type of bridge versus the roller bridges you normally see with Bigsby's but tuning stability has never been an issue and it actually stays in tune much better than a buddy's Bigsby/roller bridge equipped guitar. If you even look at the trem on his, everything goes out of tune.
I also have a Graph tech nut on my build with Stew Mac tuners. If your worried about tuning you could always go with locking tuners for some extra stability.
By the way, this is the bridge I used. Depending on what you decide to do, you can see that this bridge also allows for string through body, so like another comment suggested, you could have some strings attached to the Bigsby while having others going through the body for tuning stability.
Amazing.
14 year old me REALLY wanted this guitar (in 1985!)

(it's not exact, but close enough...)
this looks amazing.
would you please tell where did you get the neck? and did you have to do anything with it before putting it on the guitar? I was thinking of buying a fender neck for my squire, but after reading some reviews e.g. "The nut needs to be cut and, for best results, a fret dressing once set up in your guitar will help as well. A neck is not a 1:1 part you can reasonably expect to hot-swap in the way some people might think." I feel like buying a new guitar will be easier.
Currently out of stock but I’ve seen it in stock recently
And another on amazon
The tremolo block attached to the bridge on squiers is extremely thin and it’s why they are not stable tuning, makes the guitar resonate way more. You need this kind of “short” but thick block because regular thick blocks have 1 different string spacing and 2 the regular size block will stick out the back
This is the number one upgrade you need for your squier I promise
You upgrade the pickups along with that and I guarantee this will be a monster!!!

Its not stock, I found it on Amazon this one. It actually was a little beat up when I bought it, no pickgaurd and the body was a mess.
I have an Epiphone Les Paul with a 3x3 headstock. Because of the configuration it can cause undue tension against the strings. Got one of these on the way to check out, but thought you might be interested as well : String Butler
Thanks! First time with a roasted maple neck. I bought the mount online (This one is from Amazon). It does not fit the Fender head stock well, so I am either going to try to modify this one or build my own based off of this design. Fits my Ovation perfectly, so either way it won’t go to waste!

I will be honest, the electronics/bridge/saddle that come with the kit are okay if you are just starting out but if you get a kit like this you will likely want to plan on a future upgrade on the pots, pickups, and hardware. But it was a ton of fun to put together and finish.
The kit did not come with the black hardware but I knew I wanted everything black so I bought it all separately. I just recently swapped to Seymour Duncan Slash signature humbuckers and they sound awesome.
Cheers!

Edit, since you replied before I posted the info, I did self post about the models and what not.
As the other poster said it will take about an hour from start to finish including the string change and clean-up. It's a pretty easy operation and a new pickgurard will make a huge difference. I have had really good luck with DAndrea pickguards on Amazon. Shielded, fit well, ~$20, and they have tons of colors.
The one thing that tripped me up the first time I did it is make sure you have some pickup mounting tubing handy. Most strats will use that but some will use springs. It's what allows the pickup height to be adjusted, but it's not immediately obvious you'll need it.
i found these recently and ordered a pair for my nephew and I.
If no worky on the guitar maybe on the strap would work.
If your switch tip is falling off, use this stuff. I used it because my Tele switch kept falling off and it works great.

Haha that’s awesome. I recently moved and every studio I’ve ever been in always had a very similar red rug so I had to get one. The rug itself isn’t bad at all for the price. There are a few spots that haven’t flattened out completely but over time I’m sure it will take care of itself. As far as the stands go, make sure you shop around a bit. I feel like they’re hit or miss but I ended up finding a decent one on eBay for a lot less then amazon and it was the same thing. Here’s the link for the rug Home Dynamix Sakarya Area Rugs, 5'2"x7'4" Rectangle, Oriental Red https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0007MVL72/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_xFgOFbJMWEXES?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I wanted to make a custom pickgaurd for myself so I decided I'd paint my own. The harsh dark lines are a small tribute to EVH. The wavy patterns are in a lot of my sketches so I decided I'd add them here too. The R is my first initial in my calligraphy. The wing was added there for extra edginess and why not. And the line pattern going in between the pickups was inspired by Matti Hoffmans MH logo.
All of it was done by using a pickguard I bought off of Amazon. I first scored the surface with 600 grit sandpaper. Then drew on it with an acrylic marker. Then put 3 coats of a matte finish on it.

Really nice, sturdy mounts. Totally worth the $$$
Amazon. Surprisingly hard to find one for HSS configuration with 3 screw adjustment for humbucker. Major online retailers did not have any. Only found OEM on Fender for $40, the rest were on Amazon, eBay, Reverb. Got this one for $11, looks to be the same quality as OEM. Link
If your pick up config is different there are a lot more options out there.
I used to play these. Theyre ok. I know everyone has their own preference but If you like them I suggest you try Dava. They are hard plastic with rubber little grips. And the pick end is a different kind of.nylon. they last forever and feel great.

I've got to say, this guitar is much better than a warlock. More colorful as well.
Yeah man, I really wanted a lipstick pickup and this is my experimenting guitar, so tbh i found a super cheap lipstick on amazon! I thought it was gonna suck but it actually sounds GREAT. Just have to wrap the bottom in some copper foil shielding to stop excess buzz.
Depending on your price range this is my setup almost exactly, in the case of the picture above i'm runnig through headphones. The Little Black Amp only runs through the FX loop, if you run it through another input it messes with your signal, and definitely don't put it between the speaker cab and head that makes it catch fire apparently.
So the Micro Dark wouldn't be the best thing for jam rock without pedals because it's got a very Metal high gain tone and no built-in reverb. But it sounds amazing and at low gain it takes pedals really well. 'You might want to look into getting a different tube amp style head with an FX loop + the orange cab and the JHS Black Amp. I've never used them but the Hotone amps might be worth looking into. I really chose this one because I love the natural tone of an orange amp + for the FX Loop and Emulated line out(improves tone in headphones). I will say though the Little Black Amp kind of ties the whole setup together because I can blast the amp and my dirt pedals to where I like the tone then back off the volume drastically.
I would still recommend this, most of what I got picture was used/acquired through trading on r/letstradepedals that being said you can find some solid cheap pedals on amazon. They won't be the best thing ever but it'll get you started.
Seymour Duncan SH2N Jazz Model Humbucker Pickup - (Black)
This fella suits my playing style very well. I like progressive stuff (Tool, Yes, Rush, et al) - nothing too over-the-top but the SH4 JB and SH2N Jazz give me a great balance of being able to push it hard or have some sparkling clean tones. Read some reviews and specs on some different models and see what you think fits you best of course.
Found an identical one on Amazon. No info on the manufacturer, but at least it's a lead: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thin-Line-ACOUSTIC-ELECTRIC-Double-Cutaway/dp/B001MXHLUQ
This On-Stage WS7500. It’s barely wide enough to where my screen sits in between my monitors with about a quarter inch space between each edge and the speaker.
I’m looking at this one right now since it’s about 55” wide and has a shelf for my desktop. It’s also $75 cheaper, so I imagine I can try and sell my current desk for $50-75 less and maybe break even and call it a day
>My Ibanez AS73
Hey man, really dig your setup.
I have a Firefly (Chinese knock off of your guitar), can you tell me which TusqXL nut you bought? I found this one, but was looking for black.
That the right one?
Of course you can buy it.
But have in mind that you need to screw two screws into the body of the guitar. So if you are not comfortable doing that you'll need to look for a luthier.
It's from Souldier Straps. You can design your own on their website. But this was a stock one I got off Amazon.
I've got these on it at the moment. They're 30-90, but I think 40-100 might actually be a bit better. However, the 30-90 set works great. It plays like a bass, sounds like a bass, but feels far more comfortable.
Yeah definitely can't go wrong with either. I'm sure I'll eventually pick up another Jackson. I get bored easily so it's only a matter of time lol. Enjoy the new axe!
I found this in my searching, unless something else turns up I'll probably be picking this up soon:
