ESR one is way better IMO. Holds the phone AND charges it wirelessly. Not to mention it’s cheaper and matches my car interior too.
This is new case from Spigen is my latest fav for my 12 Pro Max... and a great- dare I say better- alternative to Apple's pricey MagSafe cases. My Moft Stand sticks great!
I use the totallee case.

Very thin, yet grippy enough to make worth it. YMMV.
I have a clear case at the moment, Spigen, and it's fine, but nothing special. I want something else, but the options so far are very limited. I think what I really want is my old Spigen C1 Classic Case back, but of course that's not an option.
I bought this for that very reason https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09ZV4GHX4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I’m on an iPhone 12 Pro Max and one of these will give me a full charge from almost dead, and still have some left over.
You mean 2nd hand as in used or do you mean 3rd party as in new just not from Apple?
For the car you can get a USB-A to lightning cable. Or if you want to use a USB-C to lightning cable like the one that came with the phone to can use an a USB-A to USB-C adapter like this You may want to get a car charger that is USB-C output if you want faster charging. The USB-A output in the car will work but probably charge slower.
Yes you can use any USB-C charger. The higher the wattage the faster it will charge. Recommended is 20 watts. Anker Nano is a great one and they have 20W and 30W versions. The iPhone can charge at up to 25 watts. You can feel free to get anything above 20 watts if the price is good. I have a 100 watt USB-C charger at home that I use for my iPad, Mac, and iPhone that was only $40.

If you drop your phone, yes
I’ve gone through a bunch of different brands and found this one to be the best combo of quality and price ( lasted way longer than what they sell in the apple store )
Maxboost Screen Protector... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JX7VFTB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I’m hard on my phone and I tend to break these every couple of months, I just keep a pack around and swap them out
https://www.amazon.ca/Spigen-Quartz-Hybrid-Works-iPhone/dp/B08BGDDRBH
Spigen Quartz Hybrid case. Clear case with a tempered glass back instead of TPU/plastic. Plastic on the sides but that’s pretty standard. Comes in a matte finish too if you like which is great for avoiding fingerprints. I almost got this case but wanted one with mag safe magnets built in for my car charging mount. Spigen always makes great cases. Give this one a look.
Honestly, if you want complete protection, you should look into a waterproof case. Lifeproof makes great cases, but are a little pricey. I had a Lifeproof case for my iPhone X, for the entire time I had the phone (3 years) and the phone looked brand new when I took it out to trade it in. I got $450 trade-in for it. Also, something to note is that my Lifeproof case got pretty banged up, but they have a lifetime warranty, so they replaced it.
When I got this phone I didn't feel like waiting for Lifeproof to put a case out (I got my phone on preorder), so I bought a cheap one off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08HVPMBDW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
So far especially for $20, it's actually been really great. A couple of scratches on the back, but that's about it. My only complaint is the back is glossy, so if your hands are sweaty, it can be a little difficult to hold. That's it though.
I’ve bought these for my last three phones, low profile so it does mask the design and haven’t yellowed for me yet. Ringke Fusion Matte Compatible... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08H5WLXD8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I got this one and it's been amazing. Privacy screen + full coverage (faceID works perfect and I haven't noticed any issues with front selfies). I didn't use the camera protector it came with.

Link to the one I use:
Magnetic Phone Car Mount, WizGear [2 PACK] Universal Air Vent Magnetic Phone Car Mount Phone Holder, for Cell Phones and Mini Tablets with Fast Swift-Snap Technology, With 4 Metal Plates https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G0X56YU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_ABH8Fb9T9KDH2
A bit more context: I came from a XS Max and used both on the same vent - it was extremely secure and didn’t bounce or ‘shiver’ with the road movements at all because it wasn’t just one point of connection. One was definitely secure enough but I could basically toss it at my dashboard and it would grab it for me. That, plus the stability made using both the right choice for me. Can confirm two of the larger metal plates will fit in the Max lineup phone cases, but you should be able to fit two of the round ones in your 12 pro case.
I’ve also used the Belkin car mount with MagSafe and I like it less than I liked the one linked above. The Belkin one is strong enough for sure, but you have to align it more than the ones with the plates and it sort of jiggles around a fair amount because of the vent clip aspect of it - plus the phone sits a couple inches out from/away from the actual vent so using it while mounted feels less secure to me. With the plated one I couldn’t put my hand behind it but it was definitely not going to move at all when I tapped it/I could press on it without any hesitation. Honestly considering going back to that setup full time
this case Works pretty well for me with the apple leather wallet. Magnet holds pretty well for me.

I have a Torras notchless screen protector and I have not noticed any impacts on Face ID or the front facing camera. What I’m not sure about is if there are is a mic in that sensor array that is now covered by a screen protector. The screen protector doesn’t cover the speaker though.

It’s not expensive, shows off the new build, gives a little protection but doesn’t add bulk, and doesn’t feel cheap like other cases. Oh and the buttons still click nicely.

It's so easy to install.
I went with ArmorSuit on Amazon. Super easy to install, just as good quality as the flexible Zagg/ArmorSuit shields, but a lot less expensive. And they have a lifetime warranty.
