It might not have been a bird - there is a fungus (<em>Massospora cicadina</em>) that will cause the abdominal segments of cicadas to fall off while the cicadas are still walking/flying around and even attempting to mate. Picture here (pg. 125)
(I know this is an old post, but ran across a description of this fungus today while reading about something else and thought it might be relevant.)
That is a female stag beetle in the homoderos family. It does appear to be missing some dots, but here’s a comparison photo
if you’re in the US and not in.. i think it’s just CA… cy kick. follow directions. they’ll be gone so fast.
This is the comb you need. It helped get rid of the lice in my daughter's thick hair. Comb at an angle from forehead to nape of neck on conditioned hair.
So you’re gonna want to buy some of this stuff https://www.amazon.com/Advion-Cockroach-Tubes-Control-Syngenta/dp/B0148W0WOE/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=roach+gel&qid=1661333228&sr=8-4
It’s a roach bait/gel that attracts them and when they eat it they die a little later. It’s going to be disgusting. If you have an infestation you will see dozens, maybe hundreds, of small roaches slowly crawl out to die. The good news, after you do this you’ll have a break in the infestation or it might be totally gone. Regardless, you have to clean everything that has unsealed food. After the first mass die off make sure to watch the counters at night and see if they come back. If you find more, rinse and repeat until you stop finding them. If you don’t have a mass die off then you almost certainly don’t have an infestation and you can breathe easy as getting rid of those little roaches can be an absolute nightmare and incredibly costly if you go the pest control route. I wish you the best of luck.
I forget. I bought it years ago for like $50
Its this one
Usually only the queen starts the nest. The workers add to it. They may be trying to gather more wood to add to an existing nest. You can put up a fake nest to keep them away.
Here is one. https://www.amazon.com/AIRCROW-Wasp-Fake-Hornets-Deterrent/dp/B01KLMDXKK
It has 3 nest sections with 2 dividers so that you can close off the majority of it until the colony is bigger. It's one of the better acrylic nests I've had and it's pretty cheap. The humidity tower functions as a drinking water source as well.
I found these all over my plants before not long before harvest last year. They eat the buds and shit all in them too.
This is what I used and got rid of them. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AA8WYEC/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_VS0RYRR74MPZHAKJ7FNK
You can add to the water and spray on the buds.
If they have attached to you, a shower will not cause it to detach, neither will another thing it in soap most likely. Buy one of these to safely remove them, as pulling them out with a tweezer will likely result in the mouth parts remaining in the skin.
If I'm not mistaken that that's someone from the Tettigoniidae family, more familiarly katydids, they're pretty sedentary insects to start with. On top of that: imagine being on an unidentifiable thing that could want to kill you but doesn't know you're there, hurdling faster than you can conceive of to a place unknown, and I think you might appreciate why it might not want to move.
Isn't he cute? Try this stuff we know about killing roaches in SE LA!!
You poor soul!! I live in the South so any bug (especially fleas) are so out of hand in the summer. My house got infested and I have NO outside animals. This is what I did and it actually worked.
Order some of this and spray it in and around your house: https://www.amazon.com/Pivot-10-IGR-Concentrate-110/dp/B007WYCYSS
Make sure you follow the directions and dilute it. It will come in a tiny bottle (the small size) but it covers a very large area. It ends the life cycle for 6-8 months so they die and will not reproduce anymore. It’s safe around pets and human but is effective.
When I sprayed I also flea bombed with foggers after the Pivot dried. I haven’t had a problem since!
What you want is a compound with boric acid in it.
It's a desiccant meaning that when ingested, it will cause the ants to dry up from the inside-out.
Borax is a name for a commercial version of it: https://www.amazon.com/Borax-Mule-Team-Detergent-Booster/dp/B000R4LONQ
However, you can also find it in most ant-traps like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hyv4r0gRtVo
Most roach powders also have boric acid as the main ingredient.
It works really well, but to get them to eat it, you need to mix it with sugar/honey. What I like to do is to take small amount of flour, dissolve small amount of sugar/honey in water, and a tiny amount of boric acid and mix it into a dough. You make small balls of the stuff and leave it around where you see ants.
They eat the boric acid and bring it back to the colony and the entire colony dies by desiccation.
Definitely a solitary bee. They are bros usually. If you're not allergic, try and release them instead. They are usually pretty friendly, and you can even setup a house for them. Great for gardens.
Do you have bug bombs? Like these http://www.amazon.com/Raid-81590-3-Count-Concentrated-Fogger/dp/B0002ZWE5C for killing all the bugs in a house in one fell swoop? If so, lob one in there, leave for the day and when you get home he will at least be dazed.
