I have your solution! These are amazing, I use it every few days and my skin is so soft. I feel as if I don’t even have KP anymore. Just make sure to keep it up or your skin will become bumpy again.

I've started to use Kojic acid soap to help fade the PIH from picking.
It's too early to say if it is helping but I remain hopeful! It is drying and you must use sun protection.
I also use this salicylic and sulphur soap by this brand and it is amazing:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07L37F1RT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_Y6CT4QDJDYCXFRT58EEY
I used the one without sulphur because it can be drying

This is my personal holy grail product. It works wonders for me, but dang I wish it weren't so expensive! :-/
Sorry the line is called KP essentials, and the cream is exfoliating cream. Here is the links, I hope it works for you. Read through other posts there are some amazing folks with a wealth of knowledge here for you. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B079SS7LS7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_MVWR2YS3NXM3C34MW3JS

This is the one I got. I just recently started using it, but I’ve noticed a difference already. I put it on twice a day usually. Once after the shower and again before I go to work.
this is the one I'm using
100% TCA peel here
Distilled water (this is what you dilute with, get at any grocery store)
Then you'll need some amber glass bottles with glass droppers (with markings for measurements) in order to store your custom concentrations here
Get rubbing alcohol and cotton pads at your local grocery store (these you apply to your skin to remove oils that will otherwise reduce the effectiveness of the peel)
Look up instructions to dilute if you feel unsure of what you're doing. Don't put the 100% tca on your skin without diluting to a skin-safe concentration. I'm not a dermatologist; this method just makes sense to me.
Thank you for the response! Thankfully only did so out of morbid curiosity a few times over the years haha
Am I right in assuming the lactic acid cream is for hydration? should i go with a lower ph in that case? something like this product?
Hi Guys,
I've gotten so many questions that I thought it would be a good idea to add to my post here. Unfortunately, I don't have any 'before and after' photos. I got my KP under control more than a decade ago, and wasn't on Reddit then. As far as the acid I use, this is it:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004YOXPI2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
For astringent, I use whatever is cheapest, like the generic version of Clean & Clear. I mix up the solution and put it on those giant cotton squares and run this over my body and face every night before moisturizing or putting on an oil.
If your skin is really inflamed, I recommend sticking with an chemical exfoliation for a few weeks before doing a scrub.
Yes, I used a combination of this 40% urea 2% salicylic acid cream at bedtime, showered in the morning, then applied miconazole powder in the morning before going to work and showered when I got home. It took about 6 weeks for complete resolution. When the skin looks like it is coming off, you can scratch it a bit to knock some skin off. After most of the thickness comes off, use the cream less often so your surrounding skin doesn't get too thin and start bleeding when you scratch to knock off the main thick skin. I believe the cream allowed the powder to penetrate to the fungus and kill the fungus.
The other is a prescription.
Awesome! Thanks for the tips!!! I'll switch to using the Italy towel every other day now I think. You're right, it's probably making the redness worse.
I'm using DNA code magic lotion 10% glycolic acid, 5% lactic acid. It's also got a bunch of other organic shit in there (squalene, green tea, etc). Would this count as an exfoliant or a moisturizer? Also, what moisturizer do you use?
I just started a multivitamin and vitamin D supplement so hopefully those will make a difference. Unfortunately I work in a dork laboratory with no windows, so sun is hard to come by 😂
Feel like I've tried everything and it's only gotten worse
I had KP when I was younger and it just recently popped up again a few months ago. It has gotten so much worse since then. I've tried changing detergents, not shaving, wearing looser clothes, SA wash, BP wash, BP spot treatment, roughness relief body lotion. Now I am using antibacterial soap and that's it. Should I keep using the lotion? I don't think it's helped but I guess it can't hurt? I also put hydrocortisone on if it itches, which it often does. I thought it was follicitus at first but it really seems like KP. I also showed my derm and they just took a picture and didn't say anything else since the focus was my face acne.
Anyways, it's all over my butt, back of legs, and now my shoulders. I feel gross and I truly am serious that I am not going to let anyone see me naked until this clears up. :( Any advice on my routine? Idk what else to do and I don't see my derm until next month.
They are hard, small bumps. Can’t pop them. No hair in the middle or anything.
Thank you! For reducing itch and irritation, I’d recommend Hypochlorous Acid (smells like bleach but doesn’t stain). I tried this yesterday after shaving (I had Terrible razor burn) and it totally soothed it - no more itching or bumps. I sprayed a lot of it all over my legs and let it dry completely. I did it maybe three times (my knees needed a few more). When I felt no more itching, I put on lotion and went about my day. I definitely recommend it
I haven't used that but I've used this:
MicrodermaMitt Deep Exfoliating Mitt Body Scrub - Dead Skin Remover Treatment For Smooth Skin, Keratosis Pilaris Treatment & Improved Skin Texture https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CW0O31S/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_VY6PW9VF6Q7B22207RXC?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It works in a similar way I assume. This has helped with the overall smoothness of my skin a lot but doesn't really help with redness. I only use it once a week and make sure to moisturize well afterward.
Wanted to thank a member here for the recommendation. I’ve been using the soap morning and night in the shower and seeing some solid improvements on my legs and upper arms after 2 weeks or so
Upper arms had some big plugs so still some work to do as they heal from picking but it’s nice to finally see some improvements

I’ve had great results with the 2% (“maximum strength”, red label) Stridex pads as long as I use them every night. Make sure you get a nice layer on your skin—I used a pad for each arm—it should be shiny and wet-looking after you wipe it on (instead of using one pad for both arms and sort of dragging it across dryly). I’m still working out the best moisturizer to follow it—currently using my super light Cerave PM facial moisturizer (this one: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00365DABC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_QCRCSGCP5GNKRG84E8Q5) afterwards and sometimes a sparing amount of Vanicream body lotion (mine is called “light lotion” but I can’t find anyone selling that version right now online—here is their classic edition: https://www.vanicream.com/product/vanicream-moisturizing-lotion). The Vanicream lotion has mineral oil (like Vaseline) so it seals in moisture…but doesn’t breathe well. If I stop using the Stridex for more than a couple days the bumps really come back (almost…eagerly?) but when I’ve been consistent I’ve actually achieved rather smooth upper arms within about 3-4 weeks. I’m still working out what sunscreen to use on this super exfoliated skin…mostly I wear long-sleeved UPF 50 “sun shirts” (like a rash guard) when out in the sun. If the maximum strength feels like it’s drying out your skin too much, you could try using the Stridex green label “sensitive skin” version (only 0.5% salicylic acid) for a short time to get used to it. I do believe, however, that it requires the 2% strength to make a significant difference. Good luck!
Honestly I’ve just been trying different things and they all help to an extent. The basics like scrubbing and moisturizing on damp skin. I use a combo urea and salicylic acid cream from Amazon at night and apply The Ordinary Squalane oil in the morning. I’ve heard mineral oil/baby oil helps too but I haven’t tried that yet. Hope this helps in some way.🤞

PS where did your KP start up/get worse after Accutane? I’ve always had it on my upper arms but I now have it on my face also which has been frustrating. The arms got worse but the face is bothering me because duh that’s why I went on accutane 🙄
Or this one:

I was just searching for a high % Urea because I read somewhere about prescription urea creams and comments that this was a similar %. I picked this one because it had really great reviews and some mentioned how it helped their KP. Don’t think it would have to necessarily be a gel though if you prefer a cream. I like this one a lot because it dries down quick and doesn’t leave a sticky residue so I can get dressed quickly after, and it’s been working wonderfully for me. Good luck!

Mine got 100x worse after birth. Honestly it was bad for almost a year after. Sorry I know that’s not encouraging but it happens for some of us lucky ones (🙄)
This product has helped in reducing the bumps on my arms. Still have them but it’s greatly reduced.

Also I’d be careful with coconut oil (I stopped using it) because I heard it can clog pores. I didn’t necessarily have that issue, but I think most people would recommend jojoba oil instead
You can also purchase these separately I believe. I go through the squalane quicker because it doesn’t spread as easily as the niacinamide so I purchased this as well The Ordinary 100% Plant-derived... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C58HHD3?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I struggle with this as well and the only thing that has worked at all is this soap. I use it every time I’m in the shower and let it sit on my skin for a few minutes. It leaves a bit of a smell, but it has significantly reduced the plugs. I also only use coconut oil as a moisturizer. Everything else seems to make it worse.
Revitale Advanced Salicylic Acid & Sulphur Scrub Treatment Soap https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L37F1RT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_T2V6CZW34X9PJJVDWEKG
Both are made from olives, I'm not sure if the success some people have been having is specifically due to The Ordinary squalane being sugar-derived. I doubt it, but I've read about olive squalane breaking people out more.
I've seen you posting here for some time now, is this the most significant progress you've seen?
I'm having some success with these. They aren't a panacea, but make my arms feel somewhat normal lol.
I’ve tried Korean Italy towels, if you are prone to redness I probably wouldn’t recommend. They were fantastic at smoothing my skin but made the red bumps stand out so much more
Here’s an example:
https://www.amazon.com.au/Korean-Italy-Towel-Exfoliating-Washcloth/dp/B07HNVGGT5
No idea where the name came from though!
read it in dermatologic therapy 2018:) hope it serves u well :) :) :) I would also cite dr dray about urea but may offend someone https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/Topical-urea-in-skincare%3A-A-review-Celleno/fabe58a67fa7f2995485eabd61be9aa231a57414?citationRankingModelVersion=v0.2.0-0.001&citedPapersSort=relevance&citedPapersLimit=10&citedPapersOffset=10&sort=relevance
The smell doesn’t stay. Thankfully. I just use this cheap brand: GRISI LARGE 125g 10% SULFUR SOAP DERMATITIS OILY SKIN https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M96K648/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_HV2C3WGX7QHSKQSK3Q7C
This is the one I use. It’s just something I found on Amazon (link below). I’ve started mixing it in with normal moisturiser otherwise it leaves a white (but dry) film on my skin, but I’ve been putting it on before bed anyway. My understanding is it traps in moisture and exfoliates your skin like mad without (for me) causing more redness. It’s actually meant for all the dead skin on your feet. Like I said, trial and error but when you’re desperate, you give anything a go.
The key is the active ingredient so if you can’t get this where you are, just get something with more than 10% urea. 10% did nothing for me. I think 40% is the highest you can get. My dermatologist recommended 10% but I had already tried it so I decided I’d go for the highest strength and it’s mentioned of a couple of websites as being good for KP in that higher strength.

UVB rays are anti inflammatory and quiet KP. Also getting vitamin D from the sun is wayyyyy better than supplements. People used to be outside more often in more primitive times and we had less skin issues than we do today. Tbh I actually had it for a long time and never even thought anything of it (I thought it was chafing on my legs from wearing tight shorts so I never cared) until one day my dumb OCD-ass decides to look it up online and then BAM I started my obsessive depression over it. I typically use this one on Amazon but I imagine any sulfur based one will do. Revitale Advanced Salicylic Acid & Sulphur Scrub Treatment Soap https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L37F1RT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_KFY45ZB00E3Z3RA0P4CK
Sulfur is a strong keratolytic. It’s drying though, so always moisturize afterwards.
Mine got a lot better after giving up American wheat flour, that was incidental as it gave me other issues as well. As far as external products, I just started using Advanced Clinicals lotion with retinol and that seems to be helping as well. Good luck!

i just ordered this because reviews look good. Unfortunately I won't be a great study subject because I pick my skin pretty bad often and have to wait for it to heal before using. And will almost certainly ruin my routine streak for that reason. I might be able to use it on a small portion of my skin and keep my hands off just that area... Like I could just do my left upper arm and try not to pick only that area. I'll probably do that. We'll see. https://www.amazon.com/Salicylic-Upgraded-Intensive-Moisturizes-Exfoliates/dp/B08WJGZ93Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=Getsocio&qid=1628023173&sr=8-3
Here they are, from Amazon site:
The Crepe Corrector is available at Walmart, the AseptiMD has to be ordered online.
if anyone is interested I ended up ordering this one because of the added ceramides, jojoba esters, and hyaluronic acid, as well as it being free of sulfates and parabens (its surprisingly hard to find one of these creams without one or the other). It will be here tomorrow but I’ll update or make a new post if it helps with my kp!
Yeah it helps with mine and theres some peole who have had a LOT of success with hair removal products like nads/nair/veet because of the way they break down folicles! By a happy coincidence I switched to nad’s sensitive hair removal cream from nair for other reasons (I only use cruelty free products aside from a few things that were gifted to me that I’m using up like cerave. nair is not cruelty free so I switched to nad’s) and found that urea in it made it work even better for my KP! I also find that it smells a whole lot better than nair imo :) hope it helps!

It has actually helped with the KP on my legs.
Sooooo this has been a process. What it seems to be is that the IUD signifigantly lowered y immune system. Since i have to wear a mask all the time it seems i got Demodex mites. They are always there apparently but under a mask and with a lowered immune system they go crazy and your body starts also going crazy and creates an autoimmune response. At least this is what I have pieced together. I found a sulfer based cream with tea tree oil that seems to supress it but I still have not cured it. I got this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RDD0VOC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 But I am about to try this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KRX1LX7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to see if it gives better results as the 1st one has parabeans and all kinds of crap in it. I was desperate. Almost immediately it calmed down. Here is how you know if you have these disgusting little shits: if you start using a cream like one of these on your face and you get a crawling sensation on your scalp, ears or neck. Yes this is just about the most disgusting thing ever but it is what I experienced. It means they are looking for another home. I am getting sulfur based soap for my body and scalp now too. Oh joy
I was looking at the BHA liquid for https://www.amazon.ca/Cosrx-Blackhead-Power-Liquid-Remover/dp/B00OZEJ8R8/ref=sxts_sxwds-bia-wc-nc-drs1_0?cv_ct_cx=cosrx&dchild=1&keywords=cosrx&pd_rd_i=B00OZEJ8R8&pd_rd_r=dc199292-fdb7-4ecf-9961-f21119d6db6c&pd_rd_w=5SqPl&p...
But I’ve heard that you can get that SA toxicity through your skin depending on the amount and not sure if that’s a possibility using a cotton pad with this stuff all over the arms
Once I started using these washcloths the KP on my arms and legs as gotten so much smoother.
I use this for the KP on my arms and my skin has started to smooth after like 2-3 weeks
Cerave Sa Renewing Lotion 8 Ounces https://www.amazon.com.mx/dp/B0071XPQQ2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_CF9AFbBSE2K1A
Thank you very much! I agree that 40% is definitely not the way to work for a routine I did a little more searching and found this one that has both Salicylic acid 3% and Urea 20%.https://www.amazon.com/Salicylic-Acid-Beta-Hydroxy-Urea/dp/B008X8O3ZO That's two birds with one stone but I'm worried about what this ingredients list means (I haven't seen beeswax in any urea cream or lotion and wonder if it'll effect it's performance or leave me greasy) and the fact that there's absolutely no reviews! I'm thinking about purchasing and trying it out as there's limited products like this in the U.S.
I use the Sal3 sulfur soap in one of these bags as an exfoliator. I think it helps but it does stink just to warn you. It doesn’t linger on your body for too long though, especially if you use a better smelling soap afterwards.

They are very, very fine. It looks like powder and feels like grains of sand. I first heard of them from this video on treating acne scars. https://youtu.be/cW7nTveeSCM

Yes! Eucerin is one of the few brands that has actually provided noticeable improvements for me. I’ve seen other people recommend their 10% Urea product, but I think there are better Eucerin products that are more affordable. I really like this cream:
Eucerin Roughness Relief Cream - Smooth Rough and Bumpy Skin - 16 oz. Jar https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V3NRWT6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_HD5iFbXGATGJ2
I use it right after showering and within a week I noticed improvement in both helping reduce redness and texture, but with continued, consistent use I have noticed even better results! My skin is still not perfect, and never will be, but I at least now feel comfortable wearing tank tops.
After applying the cream, I normally let it set for about 5 minutes before applying the non-cream version on top (Eucerin Roughness Relief Lotion - Full Body Lotion for Extremely Dry, Rough Skin - 16.9 fl. oz. Pump Bottle https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H14726J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_vI5iFbZ1ZX05H ) but honestly you could probably use any regular lotion you have (Vaseline, Aveeno, etc.)
Anyways, those are two that won’t break the bank and are available in the US in stores like Wal-Mart and Target - hope you find something that works for you!
I would bet that it does. You could try talking whomever does your laser into going back over it? Bargain with a spot test maybe? I go over my lower legs, where my KP is worst, like 5 times. But I really don't even think about it taking longer, it's a non-issue. This is the one I recommend if you want to buy one some day:
BoSidin permanent hair removal device https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083WDVSYY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_9X.gFbX0DCYQJ
Tend Skin The Skin Care Solution For Unsightly Razor Bumps, Ingrown Hair And Razor Burns, 8 Fl Oz Bottle https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001ECQ7G4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_K4RrEbTKJYB22
It was kind of a random purchase based on one of those “best items on amazon” lists. There may be better products out there for this sort of thing, but I’m going to use this up before I try something else and it works decently well. It does have alcohol in it so if your skin is sensitive it might not be for you.
