Again, it depends on your goals. Personally, I think this is a much better option. It gives you protein and healthy fats (and sounds tastier than plain old corn anyway!). That said, do remember that weight loss is a simple mathematical function of eating at a calorie deficit. If you haven't already, calculate your TDEE here, then subtract 300-500 calories to create a deficit. Track your calories (accurately and honestly - don't just guesstimate) in an app like MyFitnessPal so that you've always got an idea of what your "balance" is for the day. Consider getting a cheap food scale so that you can weigh things for accurate tracking. Doesn't have to be fancy or expensive. This one is currently less than $10 on Amazon.
Best of luck!
Just focus more on workout and diet. Every body is tired after 10h work. So the gym is not always a good option. And you can absolutely lose weight at home with the help of technology now. Just download the app - hifit Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ouj.hifit Apple Store: https://appsto.re/cn/vK4Mib.i Just open it and it will guide you to train and eat at home. Really amazing result so far. Presevere
That's okay. I'm going to help you get started.
Go into your app store on your phone and download MyFitnessPal. This tool will allow you to track all of your food every day. It is very accurate and exactly what i used to lose 20 lbs.
To be very accurate I recommend you purchase a food scale. You can weight your food prior to eating it to know exactly how many calories it has. I have this food scale: Food Scale
Tomorrow I'd recommend you track everything you eat to your best ability. Find out how many calories you are currently eating every day. Then you can start decreasing your food intake each day until you reach how many calories you should be eating.
The average woman needs between 1600 and 2400 calories per day. I'd recommend aiming for 2000 initially.
From there exercise reduces our caloric intake. If you bike for an hour, you'll burn 400ish calories. That will take your daily calories from 2000 down to 1600. 1600 calories is definitely significant weight loss territory.
It's important to fuel your body appropriately. Eat the calories your body needs and use exercise to control the rate of your weight loss.
As you control your calories, what you eat becomes more important. Your body needs protein to keep your muscles healthy so you can continue to exercisw. Aim for at least 46g of protein each day. I would recommend bumping it higher to 60g.

The issue is that you haven’t learned eating skills. Yes all of those different methods you listed will help you eat at a deficit and they are great for that. But if you’re tracking calories, that’s really hard to sustain for a long time for a lot of people. Not all.
Try learning Eating Skills.
You can do this.
One of the best things I've ever done is to read this book and learn eating skills. (There's an online course and the course goes a little slower, but it's very expensive.) Eating skills are so important and it has changed my whole mentality around eating.

I'm sorry about your living situation. 'Suck it up. We are family and we share" should be "we are family and we support one another."
You won’t burn as many calories sitting because the idea behind an elliptical is that you are shifting your weight between your two legs... they do sell ‘under desk’ ellipticals though. >Last week I decided to do fasting for 13-20 hours.
First off, random fasting isn't going to do anything for you besides make you frustrated. If you want to use fasting as a means of weight loss, check out r/intermittentfasting
That said, how long have you been at this calorie deficit? It sounds like it's only been a week... Take a deep breath. You didn't become overweight overnight, and you won't reach your goal weight overnight either.
Next, you need to be 1,000% honest with yourself on your calorie intake. You need to track everything you eat accurately. Get a food scale (they're cheap on Amazon) and also use measuring cups to make sure that you're consuming the number of calories you think you are. You'll be shocked at how different things are when you're dealing with facts and not "guesstimates."
As for cravings... Assuming you've consumed adequate calories already, you need to learn to distract yourself from thinking about food. There are other things in life that you can enjoy besides food. Take up a hobby. Exercise (I'm sorry, but everyone can find 20-30 minutes to move their body during the day. There's really no excuse, no matter how many classes you take or how much homework you have... I guarantee there's a block of time that you're either watching TV or staring at your phone that you can substitute with moving your body). Learn a skill or a craft. Do something with your hands and your mind to keep you from falling back on food for entertainment. I like sudoku puzzles or crochet to occupy me away from snacking :)
You can do this. Give yourself some grace that it isn't going to happen quickly, but also be honest with yourself about the facts.
Wow opinions sure are split! Honestly, you should do what you feel. I watch a ton (like... a ton) of weight loss journey videos on youtube and I do hear many people who have lost the weight say they wish they would have started weights sooner - just to help with strength and creating a more defined shape as you lose weight. But, it's up to you!
Honestly, it will ALL help you get healthy and feel better about yourself!
Personally, I love weights, and find it more fulfilling than cardio. So, for me weights is something I'm more likely to do. And that's the real key... finding what it is you like and will keep doing. And hey, for me I also just have dumbbells at home, no gym. I did invest in bowflex adjustable weights . It looks like they're out of stock at the moment, with the mad dash for home gym items during the pandemic, but they were $249 when I bought them last year. I figured that was way cheaper than a gym membership, or buying all the individual weights (from 5 to 52.5 lbs), and allowed me room to grow with my workouts.
Best of luck!
Edit: One more thought! Yes you can absolutely build muscle without tons of equipment. Think of greek statues - they were plenty ripped without thigh abductor machines or squat presses. You can also build cool stuff at home diy (like squat racks), if you're willing to put in the effort. Like others have said, body weight exercises are way underrated. If I made money by having people come to my gym, I'd definitely be invested in making it seem like you need me to get in shape... spoiler alert: you don't!

I think Michael Pollen has good simple advice that would help: Eat food, not too much, mostly plants. If you can, read some of his books. Get them from the library. He has basically a picture book called Food Rules that hammers home the main points. In Defense of Food was a required reading my freshman year of college and I'm glad it was. It can be really hard when you are 13 and not the primary cook of the house, but try to make more of the meals for your family to help with that. Bon Appetit has a lot of really great simple recipes that are going to reduce your intake of processed foods and increase veggies/beans/etc. I was an overweight teen for the entirety of my school years and felt out of control with my eating. I didn't realize until way later that it's because my relationship with food was terrible and I lacked a lot of knowledge. Diet food sucks, skip it. Things like 100 calorie packs I mean. It will only hurt your relationship with food further. Feel free to PM me if you need any more resources!
Hey there! I'm in a similar boat. 24 years old, just below (or at, depending on the day) 300lb mark. I hate it. I've been logging into myfitnesspal the last 80 days, but the past month has been rough.
For lunch at work, maybe getting these will help-- I bought them off of amazon and they held up well!: https://www.amazon.com/10-Pack-SimpleHouseware-Compartment-Container/dp/B01CYXUGOA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1499200179&sr=8-4&keywords=lunch+containers+with+dividers
Are you on MyFitnessPal by any chance? They have lots of tips on different types of meal plan. If you're not struggling with food addiction, then the simplest thing is everything in moderation, and those containers really help with that. If you think you are struggling with food addiction then Overeaters Anonymous is a great resource: https://oa.org/
Best of luck to you, slow and steady, you got this!
Feel free to reach out if you need any support :-)
It can be a lonely road, but it doesn't need to be!
Hey there. Your problem is not difficult to solve. All you have to do first to think about your sedentary lifestyle. Try to go outdoors a little bit. Start to be on a diet and exercise program. Be simple as you can. you can depend only on some walk outdoors. Try to replace your food with healthier ones with little carbs and more value as fruits, vegetables, whole grain carbohydrates....etc. All your family especially your mother have to know you are on dieting so she may prepare your meal on your new style or you just make your own.
