Matters the time of year and where you looked. I regularly saw summer numbers around 50 to 70. What's odd to me is weather underground still has pasadena at 179. AQMD has an AQI at 80. I have no idea which is the right number.
Prices vary but mostly free/donate. Food is free for those in need.
I am moving out and have a bunch of random stuff that is used but taken care of. If you are just moving in and need a bunch of random small stuff and don't want to blow $300 at Target, I got you.

I like this idea, even though I am leaving Pasadena, this is my first place where I feel like I am "home" as an adult. I will miss my runs through Cal Tech but am excited for the future.
There's an app for that, Pasadena Citizens Service Center. It's like 311.
The response time is actually pretty impressive. They get around to things pretty fast. Burnt-out street lights, dead animals, all that shit.
OK so Pasadena Star News couldn't have possibly published less information....
I did a bit of digging and I think this is the app:
Android App
Download the app and enter the code PASA18 for a one-time, $1 off discount for parking in the City of Pasadena.
I can't find info on how many/where or which meters this covers.
I like that one too ... but if you want 24 Hour Fitness, there are two things you should know:
be aware of the distinction between Sport and Super Sport locations. If you buy a Sport membership, you can only go to those, but if you buy a Super Sport membership you can go to either. Some areas (Hollywood) are mostly Super Sport, but Pasadena+Altadena gives you at least three Sport locations.
CostCo offers highly discounted 24 Hour Fitness memberships, though they may have a longer time horizon than you want ($370 for 2 years)
Alternately, you mention NASA ... are you referring to JPL? Do you have some connection to JPL or Caltech? If so, you may be able to join the Caltech gym, which had very good prices when I was a member -- but you should check it out before committing, as anywhere.
Buy this book: Afoot & Afield Los Angeles County by Jerry Shad
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004P5OPIO/
It's a good overall guide to hiking all over Los Angeles. Use the internet to supplement the information about current conditions/fire closures etc.
I've had good luck with this RAID spray around the windows and the floorboards once a week for small black ants in the kitchen and bedroom. Previously sprayed peppermint oil around the windows which worked to repel the ants but needed to be applied daily.
Search for "sticker shield" on Amazon. That product will solve for the future.

$100 obo for both. I live near Del Mar station (gold line)
You can make great Vietnamese coffee at home by buying a can of Cafe Du Monde coffee and condensed milk, btw. To make it, you can get one of these or just use a mug with a coffee filter over it. Add the condensed milk to taste and a bunch of ice (or drink it hot). It's so good.
If you go to an Asian market like 99 Ranch, you can probably get everything you need for around $10-15 and then make it every day for a month.
I know there's a fit body boot camp in Alhambra on Main Street if thats not too far.
depending how big you are there's always a concern of injury especially if you've been out of the game for awhile so take it easy introducing yourself back into it and stretch, stretch, stretch.
some easy home equipment to start get yourself with would be a foam roller, resistance bands (I have the same), 10 pound and 25 pound weight plate and do these include that with some push ups, jumping jacks and burpees and you got yourself a nice home workout/warmup check out that Alhambra one and call about your concerns, good luck!
Below is a great book that should give you a sense of history and culture of the Pasadena and surrounding areas. It has a small town feel with world class institutions where the mayor once described it as "talented and tolerant". With the Metro Gold line run through it, Highland Park/downtown/Arts District is 20-30 minutes away. It's by far the most walkable area in LA and has more charming neighborhoods too. It's a suburb that doesn't feel like a strip mall and it is more diverse in businesses, people, and architecture. Surrounding towns also have historic town squares or cute main streets with unique restaurants and stores to explore. The book has a lot of suggestions, but a few personal favs are listed below.
A mix of unique and local chain places: Europane, Bone Kettle, Maestro's, Mercado, Arroyo Chop House, The Original Tops, Russell's, Congregation, Guisados.
S. California still has the most consistent and best Mexican and Chinese food around. It's an embarrassment of riches for food options and I hope they all make it through the pandemic!
Others: Trader Joe's, the OG store on Arroyo; Gold Bug; LA Arboretum; Huntington Gardens, Library, Garden; Rose Bowl
I could go on and on there's so much. I feel proud to live here. There are also real issues as with all places, but I hope this info makes you excited to move here. Welcome neighbor!

Love the idea but I mostly use a spray on product called Raail. You could always get something from Amazon like this:
I bike to the Rose Bowl all the time. I would avoid Colorado blvd if I were you. I would take San Pascual (Rose Way) and then Cordova which has a dedicated bike lane on some stretches. Check this map forroad/mtb cycling routes in your area https://www.bikemap.net/
This is taken at Henninger flats, which is just a short hike up from the Eaton canyon nature center (or you can park on Pinecrest Dr)
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/henninger-flats-trail
The Arroyo by JPL.
Take Altadena Ave going west until it dead ends at Ridgeview. Park, then go down the hill and turn right at the road. This is the start of the Brown Mountain/El Prieto trail (https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/brown-mt-el-prieto).
A mile down you can take the left fork by the ranger station to stay along the arroyo, or the right fork to go up toward Brown Mountain. Turn around when you've had enough (there's no quick loop).
You can also park on Windsor Ave near Ventura Ave and walk past the gate, but that part of the road isn't as pretty as just stating from the end of Altadena.
If you’re coming from Lake Ave and head up to Echo, the long way is the first left once you’re up by the hotel, with the nicer sign saying it’s the Sam Merrill trail. The short but steeper way is the second left which isn’t marked and doesn’t look like as well maintained.
This trail take the short way to Inspiration Point. If you take the blue track instead, that’s the long way.
Do you have a iphone/ipad? You can grab Star Walk and see if that helps you identify.
If I remember to, I'll fire it up and go outside to check. If it's at the same time every night, it could be a geosynchronous satellite, but I'm not sure we'd see the reflections off one.
Gunshots would be reported either on Next Door or in the local news (Star News, Pasadena Now, etc.). If you don't see a report it's a safe bet that the bang was just fireworks.
Really? I'll give it a test next time. I also do IRC and other alternate port access stuff. Since I've started co-working like at the library I'll have to check it out and see what else it does or does not block.
Schools are good also if they give you a guest account. Sometimes they require 2 factor authentication on your cell #, which I don't care for. I don't recall what PCC does.
If you have unlimited data on your phone uploads can be fast if you set it up as an access point. I clock well over 100MBs frequently on the upload speed. https://speedof.me/ is good to test speeds.
I do DCC work so I'm frequently looking to push a lot of data fast.
Thanks for the tip/reminder. I had seen one for her size (27 lbs now) many months ago before needed, so time to look at those again. It has a frame and seat that makes it easier for both.
I need two guys to put <strong>THIS</strong> canopy together, then fill and place <strong>THESE</strong> sandbags on the legs... it's not a huge job, maybe that's why they didn't call me back. I was thinking two guys, $50 each.
I have one of these (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00IF7RBS4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_JupxFbM9S879D ) for woodworking and bought n95 filters when no one but woodworkers wanted them.
These are not safe for covid, because it has an exhaust vent, but i wore it all day yesterday and didn’t mind at all. The quick release is nice too. Not sure how easy it is to find the filters for those now with covid even though those masks are only good for filtering the air you breath not what you breath out.
I usually draw a small line directly in their path as they walk. As close as possible without touching them. As soon as one eats from the line I make, they all swarm it as if it were crack lol. Then they stay on it all day but usually I never see them again until maybe a year later, I assume after there is a new colony.
Word of advise if you do get it though. Try to use it on something solid like tile because the stuff becomes difficult to remove. Almost like the worst sticker residue you've encountered. I guess you should use the little trays it comes with, but i found that when in the tray, they sometimes don't find it and keep walking past it.
Just saw This online and remembered this post! This sounds like it may help your situation. Basically a wood container you blow the smoke into and it contains the smell. Reviews seem like it's solid.
I've used the Gold Line to go to DTLA a few times before COVID. I've never had a problem with it. During COVID I'd recommend something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Safety-142-6900-respiradora-reutilizable-seguridad/dp/B01HMF80SE/ref=pb_allspark_session_sims_desktop_328_1/140-5042509-0961931?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01HMF80SE&pd_rd_r=594745d5-e947-4715-abcf-ba1187781bf9&pd_rd...
usual go to are kits like mindstorm or vex to go straight into robotics. alternative being the microcontroller route to learn more step-by-step approach.
if you plan to go the second route, Id suggest getting into coding first (python or C/C++, would suggest python to start if new), can learn just by coding or with a microcontroller like This One that supports python. its small, pretty cheap. good place to start off. probably buy some LEDs and mess with (IE programmable RGB LEDs), first few projects being controlling individual LEDs, making color sequences and so on.
if you go that route, you usually take it step by step. IE print text > turn on LED > blink LED > take input to effect LED > move servo > input to move servo, ETC. so it would be worth grabbing a usual arduino kit (minus the arduino if you get the trinket i linked above) to give you some components to mess around with. once you get the hang of basic programming, and controlling basic components. you can move into robotics with other kits like This One for example. unless you get to the point where you know exactly what you need, you can start sourcing for specific parts rather than getting kits. probably use a 3d printer to build a lot of its body/components.
sounds like a lot, but it will mainly seem that way if you are new. feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
I have two items for sell. $100 bucks each or both for 180.00.
A Standing desk and a 3d printer.
Both are slightly over a year old and were used for a few months. They have been in my garage for over 8 months. So condition is great.
Dm me for questions or photos.
