I've also had great luck with this particular bone: Ethical Pets Play Strong Virtually Indestructible Rubber S" Dog Bone Toy, 12-Inch Dog chew Toy. The curved shape seems to prevent him from getting a really good angle to pin the thing down and destroy it, it's lasted far longer than most of his toys.
Amazon. We likely could've looked closer at the description, but failed to do so. Thus, the 35lbs baroness gets the pibble equivalent of a California King.
Easy walk harness? My boy has had his for 6 years now and still going strong. Just a bit of input if I may. Rotate it so the gray strap goes under her instead of on top. The product's page on Amazon has a couple of helpful diagrams.
Haha yup, I wasn't there for this one but I couldn't agree more. Here he is in his winter hat that he never seems to notice and will make no attempt to take off.
r/dogtraining might have some helpful links on their sidebar, and I have found most folks over there aren't prejudiced against pitties if you have specific questions.
I got this book recently for my dogs and it is really easy to use. It uses positive reinforcement to have a happy, well-rounded dog. It does not address serious issues like anxiety or aggression that you might run into with an older (possibly abused) dog, but I only regret not buying it sooner. It integrates training into everyday activities and the only formal exercises it teaches can be done in 5 to 10 minutes stretches.
They’re the only balls that last any reasonable time with my doggo, there’s nothing for them to rip off the outside like tennis balls, my dog loves them. She can get her urge to chew out and they just collapse then reinflate (I assume there are plenty other balls like this, just happened to find these on Amazon and never looked back). They last until the seam fails.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FAAA0S2/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_58J5ub08S9PVQ
But there are a bunch of them on Amazon. I purchased this one on sale. There's several others with better reviews but a little more money.
I haven't used that sort of collar previously. I will say I tried a Gentle Leader with my 90lb pit/rottie mix and it was amazing. She pulled pretty bad, and I was having a lot of difficulty training her. With the Gentle Leader it was like night and day. As soon as it went on, she stopped pulling. It is definitely worth the $15.
Here's my dog: http://imgur.com/a/6AowK
Here's the Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/PetSafe-Gentle-Leader-Collar-Training/dp/B00074L4W2/ref=sr_1_3?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1501972494&sr=1-3&keywords=gentle+leader
I don't have the exact link for it because it was a gift and I'm not sure where they got it. But this one looks pretty similar! And he doesn't mind at all, he likes it way better than just walking in the rain
my dog tore both of his ACLs. im currently running a indiegogo to try and help him(http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/born-to-run) id recommend rehab as an option if youre on the fence about surgery. insurance also doesnt cover acl tears for the first 12 months of the policy. shit sucks hard. best of luck.
Thank you for giving this sweet boy a second (third) chance! Obviously, a trainer is ideal. If that’s not an option though there are plenty of resources out there for curbing behavior problems. r/dogtraining is a great place to start. As someone who has had a few big crazy cat chasing goofballs, these are the things that have helped me most: - carry treats everywhere so you can redirect his attention when you need to. I bring a little Fanny pack on walks or a squeeze bottle with some peanut butter. -start crate training ASAP. It might be hard at first but it will save you tons of money and headache in the future. - get a gentle leader if he will tolerate it. One of my pups doesn’t do well with them so I use this harness/leash combo that has clips on the front and the back for more control.
Good luck!
My pit also loves destroying stuffies, but we’ve had great luck with these hide-and-seek type toys. Having a task/goal/whatever (finding all the little stuffies) keeps him engaged, and while they are looking ragged after a few weeks, this is the longest a stuffed toy has ever lasted with Mitch. Highly recommend!
My pit loves her wobble wag ball. It's a great toy. They sell it on Amazon for around 14$ sometimes a few dollars less.
It's a very durable ball with grips for her to bite on to and throw around. It also makes a whizzing noise that she likes.
It keeps her entertained for hours. I bought it over a year ago, and it'd still her fav. I bought an extra for the inside so I wouldn't have to keep cleaning it as often.
Wobble Wag Giggle Dog https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PQ5UH0C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_0Az5xb1MAR0S7
That's when we use it too! I love that there's a hole for her harness to go through. My friend gave it to me as a gift, but you can get them on Amazon. According to the reviews, you might wanna size up. I'm not sure what size Bug's is.
Thanks haha.
I do not. I bought this off Amazon actually. Can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L6FB9GW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_pdR2zb4FX68AH
You can order directly through them as well here: http://www.fit4apit.com/chilly-dog-bunny-hoodie/
I got it from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LZZ5KE9/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 If you just have a dog, it's great. I have an old cat who pulls herself up on the couch using the cover, and she's left her mark with her nails. But I've had it for months, and see no signs of wear a tear from my two dogs. It's reversible, so you get two wearings out of it and I like having two color options. It stays put much better than a blanket.
Yeah we worked with a behaviorist and she recommended using a muzzle. Mostly it helps me feel more comfortable knowing that he can't do any harm. Every so often we get people judging us for using it, but he is completely able to eat, drink, and breath through it.
We got the collar off Amazon. It works great for big dogs but be warned the prongs stick out a little and can snag on things. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WQQ8WJ2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_XVsxAbQMS0G70
Our dog can clear multiple rooms with one fart. She likes to crop dust us when we're most comfortable, watching a good movie as we lay on the couch. We know it's because she eats so quickly. Nothing has stopped the toxic bombs entirely, but the first thing you should consider is a slow feed bowl. You can get one on Amazon for $12 (Outward Hound teal or orange bowl). Then get some probiotics. We bought some chews and she gets one at breakfast and one at dinner. The probiotics have helped a lot. She was gassy even with the slow feed bowl but now it's cut down to a "reasonable" level.

Awesome! Thanks for the update. My book recommends that you continue for at least 1 week and that you can always return to hand feeding as a "reset" if they ever have a major set back in their training (like say you move or have a baby and suddenly your dog isn't acting right again). Yes. My female pit once discovered ham in the passenger seat footwell, (don’t ask) ever since she tries to get from the back to the front of the car. After trying various solutions this is what I ended up with: Dog Barrier for SUV's, Cars &... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074HG7PBF?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
In addition to the guard, I folded the back seats up so the dogs have the whole back of my SAV (small suv) as a dog ready space. When you fold the back seats forward it reveals a solid metal latch on either side of the car interior, I carabiner a 2ft leash to that metal latch and each time the dog goes in I clip her on to the leash. This prevents her from climbing into the front, yes she would be able to wiggle under the guard, and has the added benefit of her not escaping the car in event of a bad accident.
I may lose the dog guard in time but it is an ok back up. I also made a simple wooden frame to make a small space at the back of the trunk so the dogs are not flush against the tail door. Avoids them impacted by rear end traffic collision and gives me a spot to put the beers.
I’ll post photos if this isn’t clear. Good luck, female Pitts are wilful creatures!
Just bought one very similar to this one, it's a bit pricey but he can't get out and not having to replace door knobs/worrying about him letting himself out among many other things he would destroy it has already paid for itself

>They used the term "regular pitbull" a handful of times, so it's not clear what breed of dog they are talking about.
The dog on the left is the one they are referring to as a "regular pitbull," the one in the middle is one of the ones they are excluding.
dog looks amazing, my sympathies for your hardship. I was married for 2.5 months before my ex-wife started cheating on me. Thankfully i kept the dog in the divorce and he is the only thing that kept me in decent spirits. I am also in a rebuilding process and doing quite a lot better than i was 9 months ago. All i can suggest is don't be afraid to reach out for help or simply just to talk to someone. If you haven't done so already, take a trip down to your local shelter, you may find another soul to cherish and who will love you through thick and thin :) shameless plug for Guinness, my shelter pit mix rescue
I have a thunder jacket similar to this
https://www.amazon.com/HCHYEY-Anxiety-Jacket-Skin-Friendly-Calming/dp/B0BD5QKFCQ/ref=sr_1_26?keywords=thunder+jacket+for+dogs&qid=1669857764&sr=8-26
It is stretchy lycra-ish material and really works on my scaredy pibble.
I have two the one inside my car, and the one I use to walk them. They're well behaved so the transition is fairly easy, especially after a long walk. But ChewMyMeatForYou made a great suggestion getting a seatbelt tether makes it so you only need one. Seatbelt tether
These ones: https://www.chewy.com/ethical-pet-dura-fused-leather-forest/dp/215274
We also used to have a leather chew that was just 2 super heavy duty strips of leather sewn together, no stuffing. I have no idea where it was from but my dogs LOVED that damn thing!
It was disgusting, it would get all soggy and smushed up, but they’d go into a trance chewing it
I got 2 of these for my dog and she loves them (Ohio here). They’re reversible but I usually keep the plaid on the inside and the shell on the outside to block the wind/snow. I think I got a large for my 55lb and it works great- the Velcro makes it easy to size however you need!
https://www.chewy.com/petrageous-designs-kodiak-insulated/dp/151066
I have this one for my pup! I found out that he doesn’t like anything around his front legs, so the parka works well for him. And, it’s waterproof and super warm.
In my experience, these are very emotionally sensitive dogs. Lots of affection and verbal praise. My Lilly responds better to verbal praise than pets or treats, honestly.
They are afraid of the oddest things. Toothbrushes, box fans, cats, water, rain, thunder, Nerf guns, dice, etc. Be patient.
Purchase this ball. It's been a year now, and she hasn't even managed to poke a hole in it. Every other toy we have gotten her (even Kong stuff) has been chewed into tiny pieces and eaten. Like, found in a little pile of rubber in the backyard. The squeaker is very loud and piercing, but it'll be the last ball you ever buy and that makes it worth it.
What you feed on wet food is entirely based on the brand/it’s calories and how big your dog is. So basing this on purina pro plan
https://www.chewy.com/purina-pro-plan-savor-adult-grain/dp/52711
And assuming your dog is 55 lbs (the average probably for pits, though they can be 35-75 I believe). You should be doing 2 and a half a can a day. So if your dog food is similar, then yes you are over feeding. You generally need to get a lot more wet food then dry.
You can try as an alternative what she ate in kibble and soaking it in water for 10-30 minutes before hand as well (dry kibble is cheaper so I would go this route most of the time honestly)
So! I got them on Amazon…. here and had to cut the back legs off above the cuff because she kept getting caught up in them but it worked out great!
I have used this shampoo and it works great. The vet make us bath her every 3 days for a month ... I do now washes everytime I see a little bump. Left her fure bright and super smooth, I think the shampoo together with Zyrtec works great for my dog, her allergies were not as bad as your boy, and hopefully it is only seasonal (spring/summer) shampoo: DechraTopical TrizCHLOR 4 Shampoo for Dogs, Cats & Horses (16oz), Model Number: 1810123 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YQHF3Z8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_K9xqhkhZ6Rxf1

I use an anti-parasitic & anti-seborrheic medicated shampoo. You can buy it on Amazon. It’s a little pricey, but it works and is much better than pills. It completely cleared up after a few uses.

I got mine on Chewy! Here
2 for 1 deal on Amazon. I would also make sure that the water doesn’t rush too fast as that scares them. If you use a tub, make sure you place them in AFTER you filled it. If you use a hose, I would suggest a pitcher, that you can slowly pour over the dog to freak them out less.
Sources: both my boxer and my pit bull
The Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Diamond Plate Ball is the only toy my pit has not destroyed. I fill it with some treats and she is happy as a clam.
One of the only toys my pit cannot destroy completely but still enjoys is right here
These last with my very aggressive chewer.
Not all dogs like them, but the ones that do will really get some chew-time in on them.
My woof kills most toys, including indestructible toys. Bullymake was a joke, as were any of the bigger real bones people recommended to me. I have found 3 types of toys that have worked well for her.
1) Nylabones and similar hard plastic toys. She seems to work on these appropriately (not too hard from what I can tell) and only slowly wears down on them. Sounds like your dog might not have had as good of luck, but as others have said, you might have better luck sizing up (and only buy the maximum durability ones, there's a meter at the bottom).
2) https://www.goughnuts.com. These are rubbery but seem pretty durable. She doesn't love them is the only problem, so sometimes ignores them.
3) This random red ball from Amazon. She adores this, just squeaks it forever, and likes playing tug of war with it as well. It's her very favorite thing to play with. She did eventually destroy her first one after 6 months. https://www.amazon.com/RHL-Aggressive-Interactive-Indestructible-Non-Toxic/dp/B08DFS23PN/ref=sr_1_34?crid=3S449SS7B8XVY&keywords=red%2Bball%2Bdog%2Btoy&qid=1667017049&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI0LjY5IiwicXNhIjoiNC41MyIsInFzcCI6IjQuMDkifQ%3D%3D&...
JW dog bones are the only thing my huskies haven’t been able to destroy. They eventually break the squeaker, but the bone is so far indestructible after years!

You wedge the tick in, rotate a few times, then pull it out. I pretty much always get the whole tick out. Then I burn it.
I get it off chewy, it's about 24 bucks for a bottle though. You can look up medicated shampoo and it'll pop up.
chewy
https://www.chewy.com/benebone-bacon-flavor-wishbone-tough/dp/119507
They’re called benebone, probably can be found other places, and they have multiple sizes. We usually get the large ones and they last an eternity even with our insanely touch chewers!
I highly recommend these pet stairs. We got these a bit over a year ago for our Shih Tzu and it is very nice for him to now be able to get up and down from our tall bed without our having to help him - which used to be ALL THE TIME.
And now our pibble, Bruno, makes very good use of them.
100% highly recommend.
Mine do a bit, but we also have two long-haired dogs so the pit mixes’ shedding is nothing compared to their “sisters”.
Get one of these brushes: https://www.amazon.com/KONG-ZoomGroom-Grooming-Brush-Raspberry/dp/B0002AR1A0
They sell training aids that look like a little can of pepper spray but they just make a noise when you press the button. Sounds like air rushing out. I too have a barkey pit mix and have had pretty good success with it. He will bark when I come in the house from the garage and I press it ounce and he stops. I have actually gotten to the point where I can make a similar noise and stops. He doesn’t even like when I pick up the can. I got it on Amazon. Here is the link. Good luck. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0124G48VE/ref=cm_sw_r_api_i_5MET3KXJK9E5CJVXP1FK_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Hey, can't comment on the fluozetine Im just not familiar but my family dog growing up got extremely stressed when we were moving (I assume he thought we were gonna leave him) and we used Licks the zen calming one on the actual moving day and it worked really well to calm him down and help him sleep, just an idea. I used this stuff when my dog had hot spots: Natural Dog Company Skin Soother (1oz / 30mL Tin) | All-Natural Healing Balm | with Almond Oil, Cocoa Butter, and Vitamins C and E | Moisturizes Dry and Itchy Skin | Treats Wounds and Allergies https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DFSBB5M/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_07SDRB5RGPM7HHSF234P
Pretty cheap, and at least temporarily it will relive the pain.
I saw you said you were going to see a vet this weekend :) in complement of that, my dog has bad skin reactions and allergies. My vet (who tries to offer natural solutions in combination with medicine; like antibiotics or shots) advised me to use colloidal silver It's a natural antiseptic who treats great fungal infections, eczema, skin rashes.... U have to get a natural one, you can spray as much as needed throughout the day. It doesn't affect/is affected by other medication. Seeing your pictures I'm sure you will need something by your vet :( but the silver is nice to use additionnaly or when the rash calms down, and especially when you start to notice your dog is licking himself again !! So it doesn't get worse :) hope this helps ! It was a lifesaver for me and a nice natural option instead of cortisone :) hope your baby gets better ❤
I would not recommend a chain at all, I would recommend a thin braided steel cable if a fence is not an option. They come coated in PVC specifically for dog tie outs. They are also typically graded for the dogs weight so it isn't dragging around a comparatively heavy weight by the neck. They are cheap and relatively easy to find. Please consider one of these.
The link provided is just an example, not necessarily the one I believe anyone specifically should get.
https://www.chewy.com/frisco-tie-out-cable-x-large/dp/193136
Sure do, I used this dremel:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CXAEX5I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and these heads:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015PK36D2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Eventually got to the point that if my little ma’am ever heard the dremel turn on, she would run into the room, dorito ears up and head covered in concerned head wrinkles, and stare at me because she knew it meant PB. Hope it works for you!
Also, I tried a battery operated dremel, they stink.
Have you tried one of these? It's essentially just a silicone scraper, works ridiculously well and you just have to rinse it off with water every once in a while to maintain the stickiness.
We bought this ball for our pitbull and she loves it!! 10 minutes of running around the yard and she is so out of breath we have to make her take a break. We also use a kennel for down time. We put her in the kennel when it time to relax and wind down, or when we leave for work.
I don't personally use them since our girl is spayed, but these ones have the top reviews on Amazon.
just a gold choker chain for style around the town and at home, his normal collar is a plastic training pinch collar, much better imo then the metal ones as its much more gentle but still provides solid, firm feedback.

Zesty Paws Aller-Immune Bites Peanut Butter Flavored Soft Chews Allergy & Immune Supplement for Dogs. Amazon link My girl Seven and my sister's boxer Betty take these daily, and they help immensely when managing their allergies.
Sorry about your dogs injury. I use self adhesive wrap and not tape. You may still need a cone, but this stuff will not get loose when it gets wet and it will stretch better than packing tape. You can get something similar at the drug but it likely will not have the added bitter stuff to stop licking.
https://www.chewy.com/andover-healthcare-petflex-bitter-no/dp/153215
The choker chain is gold for style not for usage. Simply aesthetic for a handsome boy. He is 24/7 in a blue training collar that I've trained dogs with for years. They are way nicer then spike collars, but still offer control for faster , easier Training especially with bigger or stronger dogs. Here is a link to both....
Gold: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08D5XGZNH?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
These collars are amazing and only cause correction when needed. They also are easier to bring in public vs standard pinchers!
Let me know if you have any further questions...
On Amazon, there is bandage wrap that is that foul tasting bitter apple flavor. It works for some dogs. My brother's lab who eats anything and everything could care less about the flavor. Bitter Apple Vet Wrap
Have you tried something like this? https://www.amazon.com/Shower-Suctions-Grooming-Bathing-Training%EF%BC%882pcs%EF%BC%89/dp/B085VZJBR2
I have two pibbles, one that hates baths and I have to wrangle him into the tub and the other just hangs his head and looks like he's asking what he did wrong. Both are made to get in the tub but I have a shower head on a hose and always have the water ready at lukewarm and NOT on very hard (they both hate the spray going everywhere) so I put the head against their body to get them wet and to rinse them.
They both LOVE the towel though!
Get one of those condiment squirt bottles condiment squirt bottles put an ounce or two of the shampoo in the bottle and then dilute it with water. Shake and only use what is in the bottle on the dog. Some natural people shampoos don't lather much because they contain no sulfates/certain soaps that lather a lot. So some dog shampoos lather less too depending on the ingredients. I use a massage scrubber on my dog because he is a digger who gives himself a skin coat of dirt between baths
Please read this!
We tried it and hated how it made our pups zombies. Vet switched to Sileo.
Benefits. Same effect without the zombie effect. Faster acting (great for quick pop up T-storms) since its a gel you squirt in their mouth.
Please don't continue with the trazodone!
Have you ever tried Purina's dental life chews? The dental tech at my clinic is a fan and they're VOHC certified to actually clean teeth, not just freshen breath. I always suggest a harness with a martingale loop, especially for a dog who pulls.
I've never tried this harness, but the Sleepypod Martingale Dog Harness looks interesting. It wraps around the dog's body, rather than the Easy Walk's straps, which may avoid the redness.
The Canine Equipment No Pull Dog Harness is another one I have not personally used, but it is a martingale harness with a padded chest piece and thicker straps. Maybe that can address the issues you are having.

I haven't tried those but I'd still be hesitant - the compressed ones were the only ones recommended by my trainer and by previous vets. They're made by compressing layers that easily come apart when wet or being digested. The knot is also extremely worrisome, that's the part that's most likely going to cause GI obstructions. I don't know if being 'perforated' really matters if the material itself isn't completely digestible or the dog chews and eats a large knot. The only ones I buy are the ones that have '99-100% digestible' listed on the packaging. It's also worthy to mention that other countries sometimes have different laws regarding materials or additives/treatments for pet chews, so if you can get made in america or companies that source from usda/fda etc approved manufacturers it's also a much safer bet.
My current hippo deepthroated about 8 inches of this one amazon/pet factory rawhide and had zero issues pooping everything out. A little softer stools but nothing concerning, so I recommend. Supervised only.
Also, Himalayan yak chews last quite some time. I discovered my boy is lactose intolerant when he puked it up the next morning, but after an hour of chewing we still had probably 75% of the chew left. Those things will hold up against mastiffs pretty well and I think it was only 15-20 bucks for the biggest one.
Costco sells bully sticks, highly recommend getting a bully stick holder. Again, supervised only, a bit pricey, but 12 @ $45 ish is much better than anything youll find online and prob 9/12 end up being jumbo size. A good 20-30 minutes of entertainment for my boy.
Our vet recommended these and our dog loved them: enzyme dog chews
I occasionally have to sew a seam but these tend to last a couple of months rather than hours. They’re definitely Whatley’s favorite toys. The top review is mine.
I second Go Dog. They aren't perfect. But it was the first toy my dog didn't destroy immediately. The fuzz balls hold up better than the animals, but she does like the dragons too. With the dragon she ripped the wings off, but the rest of the toy stayed in tact for a while. She still carries the wings around for comfort nibbling

While not quite indestructible, this has lasted quite a long time with mine (8 mos as opposed to a few days with lost toys) https://www.chewy.com/jolly-pets-romp-n-roll-dog-toy-red/dp/38785
this is the harness i use, and it's really good, very durable. almost 3 years and still in great shape. i clip his leash to the chest loop and it stops him pulling for the most part.

I use "warren London". There's a shampoo-lotion combo that I purchase. Since pibbles are short haired, I didn't see much point in conditioning. Lotion seems to work better for her.

PetSafe Busy Buddy Squirrel Dude Dog Toy - Treat Dispensing Toy. Found em 2 be better than Kongs as they are pretty much just as tough and have 4 little finger like pieces that stop the treats falling straight out without a lil effort and these can be trimmed depending on your treat size you wanna put inside.

Getting up and down stairs is really rough. Unless someone can carry Jax up and down the stairs or there's an elevator, plan on using puppy pads for the first few weeks.

(Bitter Apple Spray)[https://www.amazon.com/Grannicks-Bitter-Apple-Bottle-Ounces/dp/B00028ZMEO] saved my shoes/furniture/remotes/everything from my teething pittie baby! Just a few sprays on hot spots were enough to dissuade her from human things and focus on her chew toys.
we have one of these for our Newfie... He doesn't need it anymore, but when he was younger, it made a HECK of a difference.
https://www.amazon.com/Rabbitgoo-Harness-Adjustable-Reflective-Material/dp/B089N75DTX this is the one i have. no irritation at all and our walks vary from 1/2 a mile to 5 miles every day weather permitting. and yeah, the sizing is a bit off so whatever it says you need, get the next size up.
