I have a pothos that sits under a sansi full spectrum lamp for 8 hours a day. I have leaves on it that are bigger than my hand
I have a Peace lilly that's 3-4 feet wide that gets about 6 hours a day off a Sansi Full spectrum flood light and gets relatively no sunlight...and it's thriving. I also have a Bird of Paradise in a corner under a Sansi Flood and it's thriving too
In my experience, Pothos like full spectrum white better than the pinkish purple light
I love Sansi grow lights. I have them all around my house so I can have plants in places other than in front of windows
I got this neon pothos off Etsy in January. It’s my first houseplant other than an aloe plant. I water it about once every 10-14 days, once the soil feels dry. It’s just in some Miracle Gro potting mix. It sits on a shelf on my entertainment center that gets some indirect sunlight, mostly in the early morning and later in the afternoon.
It has had some growth over the last 6 months, but not much. I recently bought some pothos fertilizer to help with growth. I also thought it wasn’t getting enough sunlight, so I moved to a window for a couple days. I’m guessing that caused the brown spots as it got too much direct sunlight.
I know these are hardy plants, but I feel like I’m not doing enough. I’m concerned about the big brown spot with the yellow around it - is that normal from too much sunlight? How long before it’ll start trailing?
Also, should I be using different soil? I recently repotted it. The roots didn’t look very established, but they also weren’t very fragile. The pot has a single drainage hole on the bottom that has a little filter over it. When I water it, I let it sit in my sink for a couple of hours.
Please - and tips would be helpful! Thank you!
It’s these grow lights from Amazon. I bought the cuttings just like this. I repotted them recently and noticed it was pushing out new growth, so I’m excited to see if the new leaves will look the same!
The bulb I have hanging over my giant Pothos is in a pendant light like this
It's not beautiful with the grow light in it, but pre pandemic, If I had company, I just put an edison bulb in it if people were coming over
I have another light that I made out of an old boom mic stand and I used one of these
I still haven't found a way to make the floods blend into the room, but I mounted them to the wall and I just sort of ignore them. Happy plants more than make up for the randomness of a flood light on the wall if you ask me.
I had to go the grow light route since my apartment has poor sunlight. I used these glow lights: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NNZXGMW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
they are pretty energy efficient and helped out a ton with new growth. I had the light a few inches above the plant and I watered it every 7-10 days only when the soil felt pretty dry.
Saaammee.. I set up a corner with grow lights for some things in the winter. Maybe you could replace the bulbs in your bathroom with Grow Light LED bulbs
Fwiw I’m having good luck with this keiki cloning hormone to get my bare spots to fill in. I’m 10 days in and already seeing great results: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LB6J8M5?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
i got these for my scindapsus and i am absolutely in love with them. you can’t add another on top, so my plan is to chop and prop, and if it becomes too much, start another plant.
I use the Barrina Grow Light strips from Amazon and they work great. They come in lots of different lengths and you can daisy chain them together. You also can choose a color temp. The "yellow" matches my existing under-cabinet task LEDs in my kitchen almost perfectly. And I have the "pinkish white" on a succulent shelf I built. Both work really well.

Not the exact ones (got them from home depot forever ago) but they are like this with a heavy duty caribiner hooked from the plant hanger to the eye in the ceiling.
hi everyone. I've been growing this giant pothos in my house since the beginning of the pandemic. Its grown HUGE and I am still having to constantly every few weeks or so continue
to pin the hanging parts up onto the ceiling.
towards the front of the pot, however, there are always several yellow and brown leaves.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong? its in a hanging self-watering pot, I don't believe that "root rot" is the problem because it is always drinking up the water very quickly, I am refilling it at least once or twice a week and it usually dries out for a day before I refill it.
can any other experienced pothos owners give me some advice about what might be going on? is this normal in a plant this size or do you suspect I am doing something wrong?
I stuck a fertilizer stick into my plant a few weeks ago and it didn't really seem to make a
difference. I also am not 100% sure if I'm supposed to be putting that in there since its a self-watering pot, I've heard that most fertilizers aren't supposed to be good in those kinds of pots because the salt might sit at the bottom of the planter or something?
it is in a north-facing window in southern california, where it is getting some lovely morning sunlight. you might be able to see I have a hanging monstera in the adjacent window getting similar lighting and it is doing just fine. also, the pot size is 11", it is the one listed here.
There is a North facing window about 5-6ft away from them, so they get bright indirect light for most of the day but it isn't strong enough so the lights help promote faster growth! I got them off Amazon and have definitely noticed a difference. I also have a Monstera next to that table and the lights have helped increase fenestration in the leaves too
Thanks! The mix looks okay but could be improved, your vines are stunning by the way. Looks like lots of coco coir and besides the perlite, not very chunky.
If you have it, I would recommend adding some orchid bark to the mix, maybe some gritty sand too but finding the right stuff isn’t easy. Ideally you want a good chunky mix with a few different materials in it, so you have varied sizes of medium. Here’s the sand I use, but I haven’t tried any different types:
Yes, when you take a top cutting put keiki cloning paste on each node of the vine where you think the auxiliary bud is. I've activated whole vines of nodes like this. Works really well on epis.

I have 2 of these and basically have a whole jungle light recommendation
Pros: can choose if you want one light or all the arms on. Has a time and a temperature gauge as well.
Cons: it's a clip on, so if you don't have a surface to clip it too you'd have to find another one.
Another pro: enough light for more plants!
Grow lights are very affordable these days and pothos especially don't need a very strong one. There are even bulbs that you can pop right into a desk lamp (this one is a bit strong though so slowly acclimate it if you choose this!)
More pole attachments (I have coir poles that can be added to mine), or a wall trellis, or those little plant clips (stick on wall, have little fingers to hold vines, 100 for $11 ).
It's not, no. It's designed for plants.

Its growing slowly because it needs more light and possibly more water, although 1X is sufficient if you are totally soaking it.
I recently got This LED Bulb with this Reflector the bulb is LED so no heat coming off them and total set up is around $25.
But before I got grow lights, mine are in a south-facing window all year round and grow like crazy, mostly after watering.
I bought one of those cheap corded lights and hung it from the ceiling with a lamp shade.
Decoroca Garden Flexible Wire Tie
I got them from my local hardware/grow store, but you can grab em off Amazon as well if needed. They're very gentle and provide decent grip within the soil to keep them seated.
I also bend a section at the bottom of each piece to create a barb that prevents them from pulling out on their own.
So the picture you’re showing is before you repotted or after you’re potted? This is the stuff you’ll need to get to treat systemically. Now go ahead and remove those dead leaves. They’re necrotic. If they get infected they can make the rest of your plant sick. Dead leaves never recover. So if you see them yellowing remove them. If not the problem just spreads.

This is the same bag I got: https://www.amazon.es/Veenmos-Sphagnum-Bolsa/dp/B07HN34CY6?ref_=d6k_applink_bb_marketplace
Bought from a local garden centre. Still had some moisture in. Also some ants.
I guess it was still live moss and fully dried is dead & can't be revived? Not sure, sounds reasonable.
First off Love your screen name LOL
NOW onto these plants. What pests did you find in or on these? If they’re infested why are they next to and above other plants? It’s time to quarantine while you treat. Girl if they have bugs now your other plant do too.
Step two. You need to remove the dead leaves and dead debri from plant pot. They eat that stuff and lay eggs there. At the first signs of damage, scarring putting holes etc they need to be removed and put in a plastic grocery bag. Tied up nice and tight and tossed in the outside garbage. So you don’t reintroduced I’m not sure if you know it but most of them lay their eggs right in the plant leafs. That’s why they look the way they do. If not in the soil itself. Did you repot with fresh soil? Now to continue treating.
If it is or even if it isn’t I’d start treating systemically. I swear by it as most household pests are sapsuckers and the hardest to get rid of. I use Bonide systemic granules. But Bonide makes lots of fabulous products. Super easy to use and long lasting. They’re slow release. You sprinkle on top soil, water the plant and leave for 6 weeks. Every time you water they release their formula. Great product!

You can get this, maybe you can find a smaller size or different brand that is less expensive. You would have to dilute it before using but it’s much more cost effective than buying individual bottles of the dead bug brew stuff
Your welcome. Try Bonide systemic granules too. Much more effective and doesn’t create fungus. They slowly dissolve so they last longer. You sprinkle, water and forget about them. Reapply 6 weeks later. Plus they work on over 65 additional pests and all sap suckers! You’ll never see fungus gnats again! Cheapest place to get them is Amazon. Give them a try and you’ll never want to use anything else.

I’m sorry to hear that. But I know it can be frustrating. This is what will keep them from reoccurring and give you some relief. Just sprinkle, water plant, repeat in 6 weeks. Eliminates over 65 pests and all sap suckers. Which is what these bugs are. Try not to give up! Good luck friend.
Amazon is the best route to take to get this stuff. Best price for this amount and free shipping! It will last you over a year. Works great. Bonide products are wonderful. The granules are slow release and have no run off from a potted plant!

Of course! I got this brand after it being recommend by a plant friend and all you do is take your prop, dip it in some water and then dip it directly into this powder. Then, place it in the soil, cover, and add some water if needed. It works great! It’s basically steroids for plants.

[This](www.amazon.com/dp/B088WS2NWS/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_glt_fabc_1P8D1QGM0TQJEKKYX484?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) is the pot that i’m using for it. It does have a small hole at the bottom which I have used steel mesh to stop soil from falling into it. Is that adequate?
I’ve also had some other comments mentioning new soil, so I will look into that!
i have two of these (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NN6SVG6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_QKEKZ5G20366C2C1KKKW?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) bulbs in a three pronged floor lamp and i love them! they don’t heat up, and even tho some of the reviews say they make a weird buzzing noise, i haven’t heard that from either bulb. my one critique if anything would be that they’re larger than standard light bulbs, so they won’t fit in every fixture, but i haven’t had any issues with it!
edit: i can post a pic of the floor lamp i have if it helps!
I've seen them at other places since but I got it on Amazon. They have multiple sizes.
It would be an easy way to make a fun plant wall because the pots just lift out of the circle. Some of the others look like watering would be a challenge.
I would not suggest those for grow lights. They're nice but won't do much. You want a bright light or one with a full spectrum. Some people really like the blue and red combination leds, I bought some 5000k leds here
I have marble queen and pearls and jade clippings that weren’t doing much in my east facing window, and after having this light for about 2 months, there are new leaves growing! I like it because it clamps right onto the window sill.
I got this one on Amazon since I don’t have a ton of windows and it seems to be working great! Got a cute floor lamp from Ikea to put it in 😊
