I feel terrible for that guy, and hindsight's 20/20 or whatever, but get on cloud storage, seriously. I recommend Sugarsync, that's what I use (the first 5GB or so are free), but there are other good cloud storage applications out there. That way my work and important files are no longer dependent on physical hardware, which is susceptible to breakdown or theft. The piece of mind you get alone is worth downloading and setting it up.
The gpa scales are ladders.
I told myself I wouldn't, but I made you a graph. Hopefully it helps demonstrate how it's literally a ladder.
Now, I've taken the liberty of graphing both together, now you can easily convert an american GPA to a Queens University GPA. Here you go. The green dots represent a 4.3 scale and the black dots represent a 4.0 scale. Now you just need to click the dots until you find your gpa, and then click the green dot above it.
You'll quickly find that converting from an american GPA to a Queens GPA produces 1 grade point higher. This isn't always the case, but that will become evident as you look at the graph. But, you basically need a 1.7 GPA minimum, and a 2.0 is a competitive average to have, before they convert it to a 4.3 GPA scale.
You are welcome sir!
I've done as much as I can, good luck.
They don't officially support shakespear anymore. They recommend Eiskalt
which I personally recommend too if you are on a mac.
It's much more stable and faster, just takes a bit of getting used to. It will fix all the problems you are having.
Installation help can be found here
ps. it helps not to be ashamed of being a mac user lol
For anybody in Science, I saw that the life sci, biology, biochem, and chem department student councils are hosting a "Welcome to Queen's Science" event so that could definitely be a way to find study buddies! I found the link to register here
Purchased these ones - not yet used however.
There's a really great one on amazon that I used.
Walter Products MOLE1007 125PCs Molecular Model KitKit
I definitely recommend getting a kit. It makes some of the homework problems so much easier when you have 3D model you can manipulate.
from what i heard not a lot of people got off the waitlist. historically each commerce year is around 400-430 students. Last year even before the waitlist we had more students than ever enroll at around 480-500. If i were you I would send contact the commerce admission department directly if you are on the waitlist. check this link and see what is the most realistic option for you going foreward: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/dont-wait-to-get-off-a-college-waitlist_b_6980822
As far as I can tell Queens is a pretty decent school in terms of jobs at top tech schools. Here is a graph that was from the Waterloo Applicants server, and here is a writeup I've found. Both only use linkedin, and are therefore biased but they are something to consider.
Queens has a very nice campus and student life.
Great to hear you’re enjoying POLS110. If you ever have a question about the course or requirements, feel free to get in touch with the prof. Rumour has it he’s happy to chat:

A little late to the game, but YNAB (You Need a Budget) is a phenomenal tool for keeping on top of your finances, and I believe they offer it free to anyone currently enrolled in post-secondary.
If Math 232 is diff eqs, http://www.khanacademy.org/ might help. Unfortunately they don't have any engineering courses covered. Open Courseware probably has some material on whatever civl 230/230 is. Strenght of Materials?
For a Bachelor of Science Honors, I don't think tuition is too bad. I don't know numbers (I did Engineering so it was about $10,000 per year for me) but I think somewhere between $5000 and $7000 for a BScH is the right ballpark range. In terms of textbooks, many of them can be downloaded in PDF. If you want physical copies, you can get "International Editions" from AbeBooks (or Ebay) for about 1/3 the cost of the bookstore.
There is definitely time for social life. The key is finding a good balance between studies and fun.
The quality of professors varies significantly. In my time here I have seen terrible professors with a complete lack of professionalism, as well as amazing people who have had a huge inspiring impact on my life. I can potentially be more specific if you let me know what field of science you're planning to go into.
It's a five minute walk from one end of campus to the next, so getting from class to class is no problem. The exception is anything on West Campus, which you'd have to drive or take the bus to. There aren't a whole lot of classes there though.
Meeting new people is certainly much easier if you live in Res (you'll be living with them so it's pretty hard not to meet them). It's not necessary though, and there are other ways of meeting people. Joining a club/team is probably the best way. If you play an instrument, join Queen's Bands.
Convert the image to a JPEG and reduce the resolution. The size limit is 512KB, and my phone's pictures are around 4-5MB lol. https://cloudconvert.com/jpg-converter is a good site that I've used before. If it's still too large, click the little wrench on the file and change the quality to 50 or less.
It's about 450 lines of Python, using Selenium RC to control a browser. I'm planning to open up the source on GitHub once I've made sure I didn't overlook some password in the source or something. If you'd like to see it in the meantime, I can send it to you.

I've had this same bag for 4 years now. Been to BC and back in rough conditions (lots of hiking). My laptop fits perfectly in the one compartment that's pretty protected. Also has an amazing amount of space for alot of extras.
I had a kryptonite one that had both the wire and the hard metal lock with a key. That way I could lock around my wheels and my frame. I bought mine a few years ago, but it looks pretty similar to this one!
Cowen's History of Life.
I'm big into paleontology so I bought it. It's a beautiful, well put together book. I've flipped through and read different parts for fun, but I did not use the text once for the class and got an A+. Everything is in the lectures, and he gives you written notes too.
Find a tutor. Jennine Ball can help you if you’re not sure where to look.
I also found this book very helpful: https://www.amazon.ca/Schaums-Outline-Introduction-Mathematical-Economics/dp/0071762515/ref=nodl_
I was recommended Private Internet Access by a friend. It's $32 USD ($43 CAD) per year. Works great and I haven't had any problems so far.
No problem! And that's not true at all! When you are selected by QUIC, you automatically become an exec. If you're talking about positions like CEO and Chief Investment Officer, then, I agree. You will have to prove that you're better than those people who've already been on the exec since second or even first year (the 2 frosh reps). But honestly, read some books like these over the summer before starting second year - http://www.amazon.ca/The-Most-Important-Thing-Thoughtful/dp/0231153686 (this was actually recommended by the CEO of QUIC at a meeting) and REALLY know your stuff. As long as that is the case, it wouldn't be unrealistic for you to hope to make it to the very top. Good luck and welcome to Queen's Commerce :)
