The makers of the OEM-looking dash camera recently came out with a version that includes a rear camera. I had asked them if they had an installation video since I wanted to know how they install the rear camera and at the time they told me they were working on one and would message me back when it's available. They actually kept their word and messaged me! They said they added the video to the product page, which I couldn't find, but I found their video on YouTube so here it is for those of you who were curious like me.

I just spent 12 hours applying THIS ceramic coating kit to my 2021 RAV4.

I did my s2000 in April of 2018 and applied no touch up coats and it lasted over 2 years. With regular touch ups, you can easily go 3+ years with proper care.

Waxing is a waste of time for how big this suv is, ceramic coating is the way to go if you want longevity. But it is very time consuming to do right.. 90% of the job is prep work. I had one hell of time masking off all the damn plastic trim.

I would go independent detailer over dealer any day of the week.

I went with this Carbon Fiber matte vinyl wrap from Amazon after trying a gloss and matte finish. I felt the matte just blended in better with the rest of the window trim.

And the prinsu so far has been amazing. I had the oem ones but they are more for looks and when it was removed I realized how weak they are compared to prinsu which feels much more durable. Also personally feel like it has more potential and less wind noise.

2019 XSE Hybrid. The way that plastic piece snaps in, at least to my untrained eye is different compared to the gas model. Maybe the origin of assembly too. Either way, at least for me it helped to use the removal tool and go around the outside edge and loosen the sides. Then you gently and forcibly (oxymoron, I know) snap the piece out. The first time you do it will make snapping noises that you think the whole thing broke in half but as long as you don’t put a ton of pressure on the plastic it will be fine. I got the Powerty set off Amazon. They don't come with any instructions but I was able to find a few YouTube videos that document the process. Fairly straightforward install, but popping off the map light covers was a bit nerve wracking. Some of the LED panels don't fit well so you might need to file them down with some sandpaper.

If you're looking to protect your rear bumper, I recommend you install a trailer hitch (I have this one that's "hidden") and then I just put this adjustable trailer hitch mount on it. I took out the ball mount since I didn't need it and it increases the car length. This works a lot better than the Vanguard protectors since those will probably collapse when anyone hits you anything over 2mph; its meant to be more for just parking taps. I'm from NYC too and I've been rear ended twice (5mph+) from people trying to park, both times I've been hit hard enough for the car to bounce even with my e-brake on but the trailer hitch and the trailer hitch mount is still in perfect condition. I recommend you go this route since its around the same price as getting the Vanguard and you'll get a trailer hitch to use for bike mounts or anything else as well.

I'm on the fence about them since I saw another RAV4 owner install them on his Prime SE but he had to wire them. That's why I'm asking if we do have to wire them or if it's plug and play with just a few screws. I already upgraded my dog light bulbs to LEDs, saw the same video you linked lol. Slapped a yellow lamin-x film on it and called it a day but again on the fence about those I just linked and also in the thread.

Don't know about the armrest but you can add this to the cigarette lighter port & this will give you plenty in the front.

In another Toyota experts video he says people are crazy to replace the whole wiper "blade" instead of the rubber insert, he said the original Toyota wiper blade costs about $40 dollars and is of high quality, the replacement blade in the stores are cheap $10 quality, so always only replace the rubber inserts.

That is the kit I bought. Very easy to install. Been in for about 2 months with no problems. I swapped out all my halogens for LED and they work well with both kinds of light.

I just installed the CURT hitch ($180 on amazon) myself last weekend. You don't need to cut into your bumper, it goes below it. So, you do loose 203" on clearance, but I don't mind that. Cutting the bumper seemed like too much hassle for me.

Lessons I learned.

• You will want three people, two to hold the hitch in place, and third to guide, bend the plastic bumper, and insert the screws.
• You will also want relatively long >18" wrench 19mm size to tighten the screws properly. It requires quite high torque 86 ft-lbs. I would recommend renting a torque wrench
• Careful with sockets, they don't fit on the passenger side screws. You will want a Tight clearance offset socket (McMaster). If you do go with this one, you'll need 3/8" square socket driver wrench.

I also bought the Kuat Transfer V2, 2-bike hitch mount platform rack for my mountain bikes :) Were you thinking of any specific bike rack?

I bought a Noco GB40 for my Hybrid after the battery died once and the roadside service guy pulled (a slightly beefier) one out of his truck to jump it. I think it goes on sale around $70 pretty often.

Unless I'm missing something, the hitch I installed from Amazon said it has a tongue weight capacity of 525 lbs. The dirt bike hitch I have weighs 50 lbs plus a DR350 (285lbs) puts safely under. It's pretty thick metal and held up going 70mph on highway.

The biggest issue is speed bumps because RAV4's aren't very high you scrape the ground if going too fast.

Yeah, in addition to the vinyl I got from Amazon (link in another comment), I got this vinyl application kit also from Amazon. It's always nice to have an Exacto knife on hand if you need to trim anything by hand.

I watched some YouTube videos on how to install vinyl wrap before, this guy does a pretty good job explaining how to do a wrap and has some other great videos related to using the correct tools and techniques for a vinyl wrap application.

Here's what I would do. Use a circuit tester to find a fuse that's only active when ignition is on. You don't have to turn the car on, just to clicks into the IGN position.

Instead of going to the battery, use an add-a-circuit on the ignition fuse:

Take that power to the fog lights. Then run a ground wire to a switch and the other side of the switch to the fog lights.

Stayed in normal mode most of the time. On-ramps I put it into sport mode, but really didn’t feel much of a difference, just the steering tightening up like normal. Well now it has almost 60k miles I just maintained with Toyota oem recommendations but I do the oil change every 5,000 miles. I had no issues so far.

Ignore the Amazon "Confirmed Fit" warning, I installed this one in my 2021 RAV4. The hooks are molded to be drop-in replacements for the one you pulled in your photograph.

Be advised that using these hooks will block the cargo cover from latching into that little track.

Welcome back! I use pillow cases (king sized) from target, the jersey ones and pull them over my front seats so they cover about half way down and the complete seat is protected from the slime and fur. Then I have this seat protector that works like a dream, it extends the back seat and can be folded up and put away quickly should you need to put it up. The pillow cases are washable, replaceable and removable.

I would just rinse it periodically with this, thoroughly. I have very hard water where I live, and the meter measures at about 115ppm. With this filter, it goes down to 1-2 ppm. I can now spray it on my car, and it is basically like rainwater. no need to dry off.

rinsing your vehicle after driving through salt with this would probably mitigate a lot of residue from salt. I do think it must be really really hard to hand wash your car during cold weather, so i would also ceramic coat the vehicle to help.

PPF is physical media that you add to your paint. Think screen protector on your phone.

Ceramic coating uses a quartz crystal to fill in the tiny microscopic crevasses in your paint's clear coat. Think like adding that black tar paint to pavement.

Graphene, is a ceramic coat with graphene oxide particles added in. I think, that darker paints benefit the most from graphene.

Ceramic coats are fairly easy to apply, once you know how to do it. I used this and the results were fabulous, but no way is it lasting longer than 9 months in my opinion. BUT, it was such a forgiving product, that I'm willing to use a more expensive brand later on. I thought of it like training wheels for ceramic coating. The main thing about ceramic coating is prepping the surface first. If you have "water spots" then applying a ceramic coating over it, just keeps the spots there. you really have to polish everything first, then wipe down, for best results.

I've had 3 black cars. It was ALWAYS a pain to deal with waterspots, especially if there is some stupid sprinkler system somewhere.

My own water? 100 ppm of solids, after using this filter? 0-2 ppm. For fun, I got a bottle of arrowhead, and it's 300 ppm, I guess it really is flavored with minerals.

I have cloth so I can't speak directly to softex, but I can say that since the Rav4 is such a popular car, you can get custom fitting seat covers for a very reasonable price.

I should have gotten them right after I purchased the car. They fit so well, people think they are just how the seats came rather than seat covers. I am much less worried about scratching, staining, etc, since the cost of replacing the seat covers is so minor in comparison to replacing the seat upholstery.
