It's just this bed off of Amazon. I got the medium size and it is a bit huge right now but I'm sure comfy snug when full grown.

Here's one on Amazon... however people here on Reddit and on amazon have stated that the bed is smaller than it looks and may not fit your dog. One redditor said their Shiba just barely fits and he's 22 lbs. My shibe is 32 lbs of Chubby fluff lol so I hope they have bigger size lol
I got it from Amazon

I've got the PetFusion Ultimate Dog Lounge: Amazon link

I'm not sure about other dogs, but I suspect my Shiba just prefers the cooler ground.
It my video (converted to gif) the bed is pvc pipe bed that is really comfy I can send you a link from amazon.

Looks to be a Whistle GPS Pet Tracker and amazon says it doesn't work in Canada, so no use to me, but I do like the idea. Looks a little bulky TBH, but there's lots of similar products ranging from $5-$600
My girl is 6 months as well. :) She really likes this puzzle we got off Amazon: Puzzle
She figured it out pretty quick, but she still likes to use it. This one is a bit harder, and she tends to give up, but she'll play with it for a good 10-15 minutes. I think if we had a bigger open space she'd like it more. Treat Ball.
Kong Wobblers are good too and we got her a lickimat, but haven't given it to her yet. I've read that shiba's need a lot of mental exercise, so we've tried to get quite a few things to keep her mind sharp, lol.

I actually got them at a local pet store (Lola and Penelope, if you're around St. Louis). The only pair I saw that was similar on Amazon are pink.

I noped right away from top ring harnesses because of pulling. He loves this thing, and walks or runs next to me like a champ because of it, no pulling issues anymore. We might eventually go back to a normal harness, but not until this one has worn out.
food: i use Taste of the Wild for my shibe, i got good reviews?
neuter: i took mine in when she was 8 months-ish..have neosporine around to help with the healing.
treat: dried liver
crate: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000QFWCJ6/ and this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00063KG3M/ i remember my shibe just find herself in there and fell asleep. but you can try treats to lure him in there...
Pads: i did use them for about a week. after that she knows to wait to go outside or tell me by sitting by the door.
good luck!

This thing keeps my shiba happy for hours. He loves digging the squirrels out of the tree, and he flings them around the room when he gets them out, or picks them up by the tail and shakes the life out of them.
Furminator is very bad for the coat :/ I use that kind of brush https://www.amazon.fr/Ferplast-Brosse-dents-rotatives-chien/dp/B001N02JPU/ref=asc_df_B001N02JPU/?tag=googshopfr-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=194966125335&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2494730690817657137&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9109684&hvtargid=pla-82201932086&psc=1
We have boots similar to these: https://www.chewy.com/ethical-pet-fashion-lookin-good/dp/56352
We're in Minnesota and don't use boots for most of the winter. We're in a suburb so there aren't any sidewalks and we can fairly easily avoid the road salt. He did pitch a fit the first time I accidentally let him wander into a patch where the salt built up on the road, so now we avoid those areas. But we're mostly pretty lucky on the salt front.
We do use booties when it's really cold. When it's super cold, he has to wear boots every time he goes out. Occasionally we'll put them on if he's acting like his feet are cold but we know he still needs to poop. When it's cold but not super cold we might do short walks in the boots, it gives us more time. He always hates putting them on but generally he adjusts to at least get his business done or a short walk.
Replying to my own comment but this one looks good? But once again, are those measurements average for a 2 month old shiba, for the small size?

Thanks!!!
My girl loves it when I fill this with treats if yours likes puzzles. Outward Hound Puppy Hide N Slide
Ah I see. 🤔 you could also try one of the supplement “treat” chews they sell. You would just give it to him daily. something like this
Can you try switching to a pill form? Our Shiba takes these
Amazon! This isn't the exact listing but it's definitely the same product. I remember there also being a strawberry and pineapple option, but they weren't perfectly round (because of the stems of the fruit) and that just seemed like a hazard 😂
Sure! I give my shibe a Good'N'Fun to distract while putting the harness on for her spoiled and "fun" reward, but the rest of our walk I hand her a homemade treat during certain spots and breaks to keep her happy. All my dogs go nuts for the homemade ones despite them being very very bland. Add a tablespoon of coconut oil in that recipe. It's my secret weapon; any stubborn dog will go crazy when they smell and taste a couple of drops on a treat or their kibble. It's also a great way to get your dog to eat if for some reason they hate their kibble or are just in a weird non-eating mood, haha.
I would try open feeding, but you would have to do it with both your shibas for it to work I imagine.. maybe put 2 of these side by side so they can both graze for food all day.. we got the largest one they have https://www.chewy.com/van-ness-automatic-dog-cat-feeder/dp/55348
Wait! Before you commit to putting your dog down, I have to ask, did you guys try getting him a Dog Halo?
I had a dog go blind a decade or so ago that also couldn't really adapt, so our vet recommended a dog halo and it completely solved the problem within a month.
Ah that explains the grumpies. He was just feeling unwell. I’m glad your shiba is on the mend and mellowing out!
What kind of kibble is he on? We’re currently using orijen puppy which he seems to really like (he’s super food oriented), and switching him over to the grain version gradually this week. We embraced the “ditch the bowl” method, and train him with his kibble for his meals. When we’re lazy (usually in the mornings) we stick it in a wobbler or a snoop.
Our shiba is still teething, but less of an everyday jerk. He has his moments where he gets nuts from frustration, but they’re getting shorter and less intense..knock on wood. The West Paw food toys honestly have been the absolute blessing. It’s teaching him to like alone time, and by the time he’s done and realizes we’re upstairs working again…he’s too tired to do anything but nap lol.
I really not looking forward to the 6/7 mo phase!! We’re trying our best to be consistent with training and his schedule so maybe we will get lucky haha.
The actual photos in the second link. The puppy on the left is a few months while the other on the right is 5 months. If you do an image search you can find the original images.

Do you bathe her much? I know there is a debate in the Shiba community on how often to bathe. We found that too many baths did make our boy dry out and have worse allergies. Which made him less happy and I hated seeing him like that.. He gets bathed before special events and always receives the below.
We give ours Omega3-6-9 supplement when we see his allergies kick in. It's made with Antarctic Krill and works like magic. Have you tried something similar?
This looks like a food allergy to me. Sorry you are going through this.
I’m sorry you have to go through all of that! One of my shibas takes apoquel daily, but sometimes that isn’t enough and we have to put him in a donut and give him some Benadryl to help alleviate some of his pain. It’s not a solution, but you could try a donut to make it a little more comfortable and talk to your vet about Benadryl. We actually just buy it over the counter and discussed with our vet for the correct dose based on weight.
Just curious about why she chafes, since it’s unusual for such a thick coated breed. Is it because she pulls too hard? If so, a choke chain or front harness might be a better option than a softer harness.
Lots of good advice here. This snuggle toy with a heartbeat made a huge difference for our pup during traveling and crate training. Definitely worth the investment in my opinion.
My girl loves this toy when younger she did de-stuff it but did not tear pieces off. The first one has moved outside & her new one (6 or so months old) is still in one piece.
Also, she is less destructive after turning 2, so hang in there!
I believe I got it from amazon
Zoom Groom. Get one of these bad boys. My shibe loves zoomie groomie time. It’s so gentle for them too. Our groomer recommended it to us cause our shibe HATES brushes or combs.
I really like the balance harness by blue 9, it's super adjustable which allows you to really personalize the fit to your pup and it's lightweight which is great for keeping our sheeb cool on hot LA days.
It's also pretty easy to get on and off and doesn't require the dog to put their legs or head through anything which takes some desensitizing/training for some pups.
It's advertised as "no-pull" because you have the option to clip the leash on the front of the dog but there are no mechanisms for anti pulling so I don't consider it to be an anti pull leash.
It's on Amazon! This is what I got for my boy and he never gotten out of it. One thing people think about harness is that they will get hurt but they don't. We increase the size since this one but this is what we use.
The Vanessa Richie book was good - not too much more content than you can find online if you’ve already done a lot of research, but handy having it all in one place and there were a few things I hadn’t read before. The other book was absolute garbage - basically imagine someone printed every breed guide article on the shiba and put them in a stack. Unedited, extremely repetitive, self contradictory, and run through Google translate until it was gibberish. It’s still in the back of my car waiting to be returned to Amazon. :/
Congrats on getting a pup and let me know if you find any useful books on your journey! :)
Edit: I also picked up this training book which isn’t shiba-specific but has been REALLY helpful at preparing my mindset for a puppy and has step by step instructions on each command, which is great if you want to go beyond the basics. Good luck!!!

The quality is nice. I’d be careful if your dog likes to chew. The fabric is pretty thin so it doesn’t make a very good dog toy.

There's plenty of different things you can do throughout the day, or simple things such as rotating his toys to keep his mind busy! Along with teaching him new tricks, you can practice re-inforcing them everyday, or try the tricks in new situations (outdoor vs. indoor, out in public, etc.). With toys, there are ones such as these : https://www.amazon.com/Squirrel-Interactive-Outward-Hound-Ginormous/dp/B005VS9WO6 That I've heard good things about. Another thing to prevent boredom is to feed them using different styles, such as in a Kong or a food ball such as this one: https://www.amazon.com/Our-Pets-Interactive-Dispensing-ASSORTED/dp/B003ARUKTG You could also try scent training and agility! I've always wanted to enroll mine in agility, though unfortunately covid has ruined that as of late. xD
I think a small collar should be good. We also got this harness for our Shiba pup (12 weeks old now) in a small and it’s fits him perfectly...for now

Yeah really good. Like.. Surprisingly good!
He’s nailed sit, lay down, look at me and paw. He’s working on stand (up from sit) and roll over.
He’s basically toilet trained?? We’ve had zero accidents in the house and he sits by the back door when he wants to go for a wee.... How did he learn that?!
I’ve done about 12 hours in the car with him this weeks.. Settles really fast and sleeps the whole time!
I’m sure he’ll turn into a little terror, but so far he’s the dream dog!
This is is favourite toy - pretty expensive for what it is but oh my god he’s obsessed with it. He can chew it and play chase/fetch with it. I’d highly recommend it!
Any wins with your little guy?
We have a 2 year old Shiba and would recommend this harness that he had as a puppy: Kurgo harness
When the pup is a bit older, this is what he’s rocking now: Ruffwear harness

I received it as a gift but I found the exact one on Amazon!
Tbh I bought the cheap Hikiss one from amazon and never had a problem with it before. However I just found this one on amazon that looks way more promising:
Please please please consider an alternative. Declawing is very painful to an animal and oftentimes changes their behavior for the worse after it has been done (no surprises really, as declawing is not just removing the nails, it is removing the bone as well. think of it like removing your finger up to the second knuckle). How about try something less intrusive/costly first? There are booties you could purchase: https://www.amazon.com/QUMY-Waterproof-Reflective-Velcro-Anti-Slip/dp/B01LYITJ4S/ref=sr_1_4?crid=3OW12TD5FRSDR&keywords=dog+booties+for+hardwood+floors&qid=1569187744&s=gateway&sprefix=dog+booties%2Caps%2C263&sr=8-4 Or you could file your doggie's nails down with a dremel, so they aren't nearly as sharp (they make pet specific ones for those too): https://www.amazon.com/Dremel-7300-PT-4-8V-Nail-Grooming/dp/B003TU0XG4/ref=sxin_1_osp54-3d58a629_cov?ascsubtag=3d58a629-5407-463d-bdc4-ae4dbba21da4&creativeASIN=B003TU0XG4&cv_ct_id=amzn1.osp.3d58a629-5407-463d-bdc4-ae4dbba21da4&cv_ct_p... I use the dremel on my boy, and he doesn't mind it at all compared to the nail clipper! Just had to entice him with enough cheese when introducing it lol.

It looks like it might be this one
I use a seresto collar on Leia, with an id collar like this one https://www.amazon.com/National-Leash-Thin-Mountain-Collar/dp/B01IJ7U9U6 It's thin enough that her fur slides over it.
I use a harness for walking, so don't need a collar for that.
He sometimes chomps my hand as well when I put the harness on hahaha
I use the freedom no pull harness and haven't thought about switching since. My pup will not move with a collar on but doesn't care one bit about this particular harness. I had the same trouble with ruffwear, my assumption was the longer back piece made him feel like something was pushing him down.
It’s my savior.
My guess is that it was sensitive when he had the reaction and got irritated when he was scratching/rubbing and is peeling from that! I would recommend Snout Soother to help it heal - on Amazon, here. There's a smaller trial size in stick form, but I've found that to be a bit more difficult to apply. Hope this helps him :)
Our boy didn't care for toys either, and still isn't overly fond of them. When he does occasionally play he enjoys ones that can pull apart or hide and go seek. Examples: Zippy Paws and Pull apart Burger
Pretty sure I saw a Shiba plushie that looked like that on Amazon for less than $20.
Edit: I was mistaken, it’s $39.95: LivHeart Premium Nemu Nemu Body Pillow Hug Pillow Shiba (M) Kotaro Shiba Dog .
Zak George's Dog Training Revolution .
It's not specifically for Shibas, but it teaches a lot about acclimating and training a new puppy for your home. Zak teaches strictly using positive reinforcement, which is the best way to train a Shiba because of their personality quirks (particularly holding grudges). Zak also has free and helpful youtube videos and are nice as supplementary examples if you're reading his book.
No problem. It's literally the first that shows up when you type "Shiba plush" on Amazon in both amazon.com and .fr, where I got my gf's.

Kiba sits in the front seat (getting too big now) so i bought the kurgo copilot seat cover + seatbelt. He either lies on the seat or I open the window wide enough for him to stick his nose out, but not jump out.

Lol I keep seeing your posts! I saw "Riley" and I thought, hey I know that name.
Just wanted to drop a comment and say Kiba is about 17 lbs now. He got weighed at his lime disease shot a week ago so he's probably another pound by now.
He also eats about 2 cups a day, but I find that he'll graze and come back to his bowl when he's hungry again. He'll often eat the whole thing in one sitting, but not always. A few days ago I haphazardly spilled the bag into the bowl and didn't know it wasn't enough until he started pawing at the food bag. I gave him the rest of his lunch (sorry Kiba!) and he ate it and left the food bag alone.
Shibas tend to be good about eating their fill and leaving what's left. If you want to give him a little extra and see if he eats it, I can't see a problem with that.
Overfeeding dogs as puppies is a little like overfeeding kids. A bit of extra weight isn't that big of a problem, as long as they are growing into their weight and not staying plump as they become an adolescent. A good rule of thumb is paying attention to their waistline from top-down. So standing over him, does he have a defined waist? His body should curve in and then out again when you reach his hips. Fatter puppies are sort of hot dog shaped, and underfed dogs either have visible ribs or, in flyffy dogs, ribs you can feel individually when you run your hand over them.
Since he's a puppy, giving him a little bit more food, I think, is okay. As long as he's getting his walks and playtime, He'll grow into his weight as he reaches a year.
Also, want to feed him, stimulate him, and get him some playtime all at the same time? Kiba gets one of his meals in this every day (mostly at night when im too busy to play with him): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003ARUKU0/ref=twister_B06XCNJCMG?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
The 3-incher is about the size of a tennis ball. Kiba can pick it up in his mouth and throw it at me when it's empty and needs more :)
Puppy class is the correct answer here.
Also, if your puppy is getting tired of the treats it sounds like you need to find a more high "value" treat (i.e. something that tastes better/is more appealing) and give smaller amounts. She is tiny right now so when rewarding/training she only needs a small piece to get the point across. Think about 1/4 the size of a dime for now and when she is older she can have bigger pieces.
If you dont already have one, get one of these. Very helpful and you will likely need it for training/socialization classes which, in my opinion, are essential.
Good luck!
I suggest watching this video. https://youtu.be/7vOXWCewEYM

Our shiba is 7 months old now and has learned to climb up and out of it so I would suggest at least the 36 inch height. Also, get one with a door, ours just has panels with clasps to lock and it's so annoying.
PM me if you have questions- we've been through it all!!
My Shiba is @helloshiba on Instagram if you want to see what they look like from birth to 7 months.
Have you taught leave it and drop it? Both good things to work on. Coarse start with low value items. Worked well with my boxer she has even dropped a deer bone a coyote left in the field. Which before she'd get all upset.
Resource guarding is natural behavior some dogs do it more than others. It can be with space, toys, and commonly food especially high value food.
Whats more awesome than steak.. Saya my shiba loves meat.. she is raw fed so she could tell ya it's yummy. She does not resource guard, but my boxer does. I've worked on her leave it, drop it and on trading for it. She has improved over time.
This book covers resource guarding I'd recommend checking the book out. https://www.amazon.com/Mine-Practical-Guide-Resource-Guarding/dp/0970562942
If you don't mind my asking, what size did you purchase? I was thinking either getting the one you currently have or..

Also if not too much to ask, if you have a picture of your shiba in the crate I'd be interested to see!
I have this one for my 35 pound shiba. I'm pretty sure I got the 36" size and it's roomy but not giant. Easy to fold, has a handle for carrying, really nice quality.
This one is what I have.
Great carrier and easy to collapse. There are quiet a few good soft-sided carriers on Amazon, but this one has worked well for me when traveling.
Yeah, there is no way an under-seat carrier will fit him as an adult. I flew with my pup at 8 weeks and used this one, which is at the upper limit for under-seat dimensions. In fact, it was taller than allowed. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014BUK3BU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01
Honestly I don't know if a 14 week old shiba can fit comfortably under a seat. He should be able to stand up and turn around inside the soft carrier, you can't smash him under the seat. The soft carrier I linked you, which again was taller than allowed, was just the right size for my 8 week old girl. She will be ~20 lbs as an adult so she was probably a great deal smaller than your 14 week old puppy is now.
I wonder if there's any way you could get him to sit in the cabin with you, or you may need to get a plastic crate and fly him in cargo. This 28" L one should fit him as an adult. http://www.amazon.com/Petmate-Kennel-Pets-30-Pound-Light/dp/B00AAPGA2W But I personally wouldn't fly a pet in cargo, it's probably terrifying for them and there's a chance they will get lost.
You should get some advice from your breeder and also call the airline.
This is the crate I use. It's big, so you can partition it off it you want, I let my pup have the entire thing to walk around in though.
Mine didn't like going in the first couple of weeks. The key to teaching them to go in is by getting them to go in first, then giving a treat. Don't lead her in by tossing a treat in, make her work for it. Whenever my pup put her paw in, i'd give her praise and a treat. Then I would give her a gentle nudge while saying the "house" command, once she went completely in, I gave her praise and several treats. Just repeat that over and over until she goes in with the house command without you have to assist her. Always give praise and a treat when done correctly. It took me 20 minutes to teach Nami how to do it, it's pretty simple once they get it down and realize they'll be rewarded.
Here's a video of Nami doing a chain of commands with "house" thrown in
Most of the time, our Shiba's treats are portions of her daily food. By doing this, she technically works for her food by doing tricks (or just being a good girl).
This is her puppy food: Blue Buffalo BLUE Puppy Chicken & Brown Rice 15 lb https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0009YWKU0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_9b3zwbY6TX1K2
If she is being a really good girl / the occasion is special, we will give her some of this:
I'm not sure if that is the exact one because I randomly saw one in Home Depot and bought it for this exact purpose. You just pop it over the bath faucet and go at it. The reviews are bad but I imagine it is because of people trying to use it as an actual shower, which I can imagine would be awful. The seal is bad and probably wouldn't spray enough water for a human shower. However it works just fine for pups.
And yes I was quite upset when she made an escape attempt that caused me to spray her head! My previous dog struggled with ear infections his whole life, so I was trying to be careful. I did not want to even get her head wet (but I did want to come pretty high up her neck because of all that fur). Next time I will just drop the spray head before trying to subdue her.
It's similar to this one on amazon ! link
It works pretty well and i feel it doesn't irritate the skin as much as the furminator we used in the past.
I found a Ruffington harness at TJ Maxx not too long ago for $5 that has been great for several months now.
This isn't the exact one I bought, but it's the same concept. My Shiba didn't love it, but she didn't hate it either. I bought one from PetSmart so I could make sure it fit.
I also have this crate, it seems like a good size. Can stretch out length-wise or curl up width-wise. Tall of enough to stand up. Be sure to get one of these for comfort!
Well they have like these
But I was actually talking about this restraint type system (although ours is blue...haha) you just pair that with a good harness.
I just re-read the comment and realized you meant on a plane hahaha I will leave what I said in case someone wants one for their car but yes you can buy a seat for your dog on a plane it's just more expensive than the whole riding under the seat in an approved carrier thing. Still far more humane than going in cargo for sure.
I have this crate: http://www.amazon.com/Midwest-Life-Stages-Double-Door-Folding/dp/B0002TKBUS/ref=pd_bia_nav_t_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=1YF8JHFZC9WCP4SMZ4SH

I used the divider to make it very snug when Yuna was a puppy and put a towel over it to make it feel more like a den for her. Too big and they will pee in it as puppies. You can slowly make it bigger as the dog learns it is their home. Just this past Monday I finally took the divider out, just shy of her six month birthday. It is big enough for her to stretch out if she wants or to shove here blankets to one side and burrow.
I got several treat toys like this. Also, lots of kongs. Having something that they can play with on their own that occupies their whole attention can be a mind saver. You will go crazy after a few days otherwise.
Get a variety of treats and food in small packets so you can find out what your puppy likes. My boyfriend and I went through 3 types of food until we found one our's likes.
Good luck!
Get a tall one!! Best bet for collapsable fence that would work best is probably something like this
They can be taken as a line with the ends angled up against the walls of the patio. But if the dog is always going to be supervised out there, might not need a super tall one. Just prevent them from easily jumping it.
I also live on the first floor with a patio to grass. So I bought 2 50ft leashes so my dogs could romp on the grass. I tie the leashes to the chairs we sit on, the bush next to the patio and sometimes my 20lb kettlebell. That is also an option if it is feasible for your location. It's also great because I can take them out there and throw the ball, play with them, without any fears of them running off since we don't have fences.
We use the comfort flex harness(http://www.cleanrun.com/index.cfm/product/1771/comfortflex-sport-harness.htm), but lately our little one has been stupid and pulls even more than usual. I am looking for a front clip harness. Prior to this I used the easy walk, but I would prefer something a little more sturdy. Any recommendations?
We also love using the comfort-flex limited slip color. Works wonders for shorter walks. Cuts down on pulling as well.

I may just try sewing on a strap to the front of the harness. I will see how that goes.
i have this one for my 3 months old. my 5 year old is allowed to freely roam since he is lazy and sleeps all day.
I also got a large pen and bought an extra roof attachment.
Mine has never tried to escape, so I never put the roof on. Early on in his puppy days he tried to eat the linoleum flooring, so we slid a big piece of hard plastic underneath the pen (the kind for office chairs), but he hasn't tried to chew through it since. Usually, my Shiba will be in the pen for probably 4-5 hours per work day.
I give him a handful of chew toys in the pen that I rotate throughout the week so he doesn't get bored. The Starmark Pickle is a good, sturdy one. http://www.amazon.com/Starmark-Treat-Dispensing-Pickle-Pocket/dp/B007K5CL9Q
Two different things. Bitter apple spray is something you can buy from Petsmart or even Walmart now (or Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Grannicks-Bitter-Apple-Bottle-Ounces/dp/B00028ZMEO). However, it seemed to lose effectiveness once it dried down (for my dog, maybe yours will still hate it). So I switched to cayenne pepper and water mix and it helped as a deterrent. He sneezed and scowled at me though :)
