The glossy color is far too smooth for it to have been gold flakes, so I assume they used something that was already gold and reflective.
Probably acrylic or resin with a gold foil on the back to give it the mirror shine. There is a chance they painted it with gold paint, but it looks far too perfect a mirror finish in my opinion.
If you look on Amazon, look for something like Gold Acrylic/Plexiglass Sheets like this
I've been using the same glossy sticker paper as you, with book binding/repair tape. Also looking for suggestions.
I've heard of people laminating their sheets and then putting them through their cutting machines but I don't have a laminator to test with.
Silhouette Cameo Tool Bundle https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WSOJ65Q/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_2MsrxbPN32XKD
$229 with tools. Same price as the silhouette by itself I saw on Amazon.
Pictures show version 1 but details say it's version 2 (touch screen)
It looks like the reviewer is using colored acrylic sheets cut on a laser cutter.
Here is what I see:
1.) Copper mirror (top layer)
2.) White (upper middle) layer
3.) Copper mirror (lower middle) layer
4.) Black (bottom) background layer
I'm sure you could do something similar using white, black and chrome vinyl sheets.
Get a weeding tool if you don't have one. Cricut sells their own, or you can get a pin pen from Amazon.
Spray your surface with rubbing alcohol and wipe with a lint free cloth before apply the vinyl. This will remove oils.
When applying vinyl to a curved surface, cut slits in the transfer tape between the letters (but don't cut the vinyl itself and don't cut the transfer tape in two completely). This will make it so that the transfer tape can curve around your object but still keep the vinyl where it needs to be.
Use parchment paper or wax paper when working with large designs or pieces or when trying to layer one design over another. (note: I haven't actually gotten this method to work for me; the vinyl still ends up sticking to the parchment paper. But I see this "hack" mentioned all the time so I thought I'd mention it). What you do is leave a small part of your design or the transfer tape exposed and cover the rest with parchment paper. Then place it exactly where you want it. Ideally, the vinyl won't stick to the parchment paper so you can easily remove the parchment while keeping part of your design tacked down. Your design should end up exactly where you wanted it.
i actually found a really nice set of 50 glossy sheets on amazon, fairly thick, glossy from amazon
I had to play around with the depth for the kiss cut since the paper is so thick but the gloss level is not super aggressive and the quality of the paper is insane for the price
Thank you! I'll link the amazon listing below. I also want to note, I had to use washers to fit the Cameo 3. I believe Cameos 1,2 & 4 are shorter in length than the 3.

Looks like you're using one of those clear plastic with a paper grid style cutting mats. Throw it in the trash and get a solid colored one. What is happening is your registering the black grid lines on your mat instead of your registration marks.
I use these these cutting mats which have white grid lines instead.
Also increase the packet size. I have mine set to 3000 for complex shapes and it tracks much better.
Don’t know what’s causing your mat to curl, but if you have to replace it, this is a good, reasonably-priced alternative. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08G53C9PK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&th=1
That's not a huge discount, since the machine is only $300 new (and I believe we were able to get an in-store discount when we got ours).
If there's a lot of vinyl, it might be a better deal, but you also might have to replace some parts (blades most likely, possibly the sticky mat), so you might not end up much cheaper than a new machine.
The tools for weeding are pretty cheap, you can buy a nice set on Amazon for not very much.
Printer: Epson EcoTank ET-37
Cutter: Silhouette Cameo 4
Sticker paper: HTVRONT
Holographic overlay: It's a long story.
So I just upgraded my Silhouette from 3 to 4 so I could cut this chipboard: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006YKF9II/ref=cm_sw_r_api_i_BKWBJC8TJYQYEJRC0TJH_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 as the 3's deep blade just couldn't get all the way through.
It's 1.4mm thick and very sturdy (It's really stiff and barely bends when holding it flat on one corner) I had to do some major testing to figure out how to get it to cut. My carriage was stuttering a bunch while I tested various settings before I finally got the solution to do it.
Here is what I do:
I start with the deep cut knife set to 6 depth, 6 Force, 1 speed, 1 pass. You will need to create a user created profile for it.
I then incremented up 1 depth after each pass until I got to 22 depth. This is the most annoying and time consuming part but the cut gets all the way through. There will be a little tearing up off the top layer while it does the cuts, but I don't have any issues with that for my needs.
This is the sticker brand I've been using for months. It's just your typical glossy vinyl sticker paper but I'm wondering if it'll work with another brand. May I ask which vinyl paper you use?
Also worth mentioning that colors actually dry up instantly, it's only the large black areas that refuses to. My designs contain big areas of all black (about an inch wide) and those are the areas that are always wet. Simple line art in black ink also dries instantly.
To the best of my knowledge, yes. It will work.
Along with the CB09 blade holder and a set of blades, you will also need a set of the Cameo 4 blade adaptors Specifically the blue or the black adaptor.
If you're currently using basic, Amazon has the BE on sale for 12% off HERE
I upgraded through Swing Design from Basic to DE a while back at a discount, but that doesn't currently look to be a thing. So if I wanted to upgrade I'd need to go from DE > BE and pay the difference ($49.99).
Occasionally you will see specials, but if you want it now, then I'd get the Amazon one, or just suck it up and pay if you're not on basic.
I've seen videos of using the vinyl as a stencil and using a pen or paint that gives it a wood burn look. After applying the pen, remove the stencil and go over it with a heat gun or a hot hair dryer. No need to seal it and it remains food safe.
Here is a video showing how to do this with ammonia chloride solution

this is the best.. a canadian brand, on sale, I might get 2 cents if you purchase, this will be one of my videos coming out, soon too the RONT series everything is amazing goodness for crafters.. you should see their heat presses..
Do you know the brand or have a link? This blade on Amazon seems to be one that works per some other posts I've found on Reddit, and it is made by EVISWIY. I have their blades for the Cricut Explore, and they work well. I've also found a template with numbers, so I can adjust it like I would the premium.
Sandpaper is going to be very hard on your blade. This does not sound like a task that is well suited for this type of machine. Just about any type of plotter/cutter type machine with a blade will have difficulty cutting sandpaper.
This actually sounds like a job that is more suited for a laser cutter.

Just got the CB09 blade adapter w blades and it works really well for my vinyl. I hard the 60 degree blades for it work well for card stock. I did have to buy a nail file for it to go into my tool adapter in my silhouette studio but took less than a minute to shave down. This is the one I bought

>If you have a good vector experience and the ability to export as dxf, you can skip/delay the silhouette upgrade and get artwork into the studio software without upgrading. Not necessarily efficient, but free.
Sounds good! We both have vector experience, so we should be good at that end. Good to know we can skip upgrading
As for the blade housing concerns, it's probably a mix of "seller doesn't know the basics of the machine" (and neither do I, to be fair) and unclear communication.
The seller specifically mentioned this in the ad:
>Everything works just missing blade and blade encasing.
I asked them if they were just referring to the Autoblade and sent them this link. I asked if that was what needed to be replaced. The seller stated:
>Yes that’s the one, mine went dull and I tried to replace with with the wrong brand one and never got around to getting the right one.
It's probably just both of us not knowing the correctly terminology for the parts of the device. Maybe. I hope.
Amazon link Here's a link to the one I got! I definitely had to wedge it in there, but the adapter does close all the way for me
Sure. It’s the Fancierstudio Heat Press Swing Away 9x12. I’m not sure if Amazon sells it anymore as even the link to but again from my account doesn’t work.
My current press is Fancierstudio Heat press Digital Heat Press 15 x 15 Sublimation Heat Press
I have found HTVRONT Printable Vinyl to be work really well with laser printers.
Printable Vinyl for Inkjet Printer & Laser Printer - 40 Pcs Glossy White Inkjet Printable Vinyl Sticker Paper, 8.5"x11"
The Bluetooth has never worked very well on my Cameo 4. Occasionally I could connect, but more often I couldn't.
A while back I replaced my Bluetooth adapter with this one (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0775YF36R) and that worked great for about a year. Recently, that has also stopped working. Not sure why.
USB has always been flawless. So that is what I am using for now.
Note: I don't know what 651 is, I would say one positive way to do this is you tell me a brand of vinyl you used with success and what cutting settings you used on studio
This should help you out. You'll need to play with the depth to find your cut. Clean debris from your blade housing regularly too, that can cause off cuts.

Clearly I much to learn, so very much...
So I can cut w/out mat if I am using vinyl?
In theory (assuming I cut this down to 8" wide) I could cut this leaving the back layer intact?

I've had success with printable holographic vinyl stickers when making them by hand with a scissors, but am still struggling to find the right blade/settings to cut them on my silhouette.

The vinyl responds best to Matte print settings on an inkjet printer. Glossy settings add gloss optimizer ink, which dulls the holographics. The problem with the matte settings is that the printed designs are more susceptible to finger prints, scratches, etc (I guess the gloss optimizer acts as sort of a coating here) so that's why I always laminated them as well. The combo of matte printing and laminate creates a brilliant holographic effect. It took a lot of trial and error to get the stickers to print right, but if I can't successfully get them to cut on my cameo, I may have to find other materials.
I've tried on max settings with the autoblade (depth 10, force 33, speed 1, passes 10) and I can barely get it to cut all the way through, and it leaves a rough edge on my laminate. I'm in the process of ordering both a premium blade and the deep cut blade to see if either of those work, but the autoblade just isn't up for the job.
That being said, if you want to do kiss cut sticker sheets, the materials above work with the cameo, with a depth of 5-7 and max force and a bunch of passes. The more passes, the easier it is to get the sticker out of the sheet. Too few passes and the cut is too tight to easily get your fingernail in to get it out. My primary product is die cut stickers, so while I want to get into doing sticker sheets, it's not my primary use case for the cameo and isn't an ideal solution for me.
I'm struggling with the same thing right now and am actively working to find a solution. I started selling laminated holographic stickers and cut them by hand, but the volume of orders is too high to be sustainable using a scissors. I just bought the Cameo 4 and set it up yesterday. I spent hours trying every permutation of cut settings I could try and NONE of them can cleanly cut through the vinyl sticker paper and laminate that I'm using. Even with a blade depth of 10, force of 33, slow speed (I even tried 1), and the max of 10 passes it can barely get through it and leaves a really jagged edge on the laminate which is unacceptable.
I'm honestly really disappointed in my purchase. For a machine that supposedly can cut leather and chipboard, I didn't anticipate a thin vinyl sticker paper and laminate to be an issue.
I guess my next step is to try the ratchet blade that was suggested below. I'll try to update the thread here with how that goes once it's been delivered and tested.

What does she want to do with it? I think there's a special blade for foil and stippling. Premium cut and deep cut are $12 a piece and are the basic necessities (IMO) but you could blow her mind if ya showed her a CB09 blade holder.
CJRSLRB CB09 Graphtec Blade Holder Base with 18Pcs Cutting Blades (30/45/60 Degree) for Silhouette Cameo 1 2 3/Portrait/Curio/Graphtec 6000/CE 5000-60 Plotter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07M8S99BD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_glt_fabc_QPRF8SAVSXZKCM113CQ1
THE ISSUE BEING idk if the CB09 will work in a cameo 4. So I would compare specs or look a little further if interested in that
Real talk, get away from the auto-blade as soon as you can. It was the culprit of so many problems the first year. I use a premium cut and deep cut blade (2 different kinds silhouette offers) I have pierced literally the surface of the vinyl backer causing a thin layer (the top glossy surface) to come up with the vinyl When this occurs I put the face side down and drag back a corner. Using my hook and spatula I lightly tug on the edges of the that aren't adhering to the transfer tape Occasionally I have to leave that thin white film on till after I get the backer completely off than I take my hook softly pierce the white on the back of the vinyl and peel up.
This is the high tac transfer I use, idk if it's actually considered high tac but it's million times better than oracal. I strictly use oracal vinyl because of experiences with sisser and generic pattern vinyl

This is what I got. I'll only give it a lukewarm endorsement. It works great, but was an incredibly tight fit into the adapter holder.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D838BHJ
Note that the other item of blades on the product page are a different design and only for Cricut/Roland style blade holders. ...I've found some 3d print files of adapters for those holders to cameo 4 that I'm eventually going to get made and try too.
I don't know if there's any iPad apps that let you draw single vector lines. Most of the ones I use are raster based. Even the Adobe Illustrator iPad app doesn't do it.
You might try the iPad version of Affinity Designer, it's not free but it goes on sale sometimes. You'll want to look into the features though, I've only used the Desktop version and they're not the same. https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/designer/ipad/
If I were in your shoes in this case, I would download Inkscape (it is free), and see if that program can open the DXF files. If they look OK, I would re-save the files under a different name. You can save them back as DXF (look for "Desktop Cutting Plotter" in the Save As file type window).
Congrats! Cutting mats and a blade would probably be a good start if it doesn't come with those already. I've heard good things about the Nicapa mats if you need a recommendation there. As for blades, an Autoblade would probably be a good start as a beginner, but you might want to try using CB09 blades depending on how quickly your blade dulls.
Edit:. Here is the one I use. You can find it in home Depot as well as 99 cent stores
La's Totally Awesome All Purpose Cleaner, 64 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007F19O8G/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_DC71BNA9Q6K3WC9GWDTE?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This is the blade holder I use with my cameo 4 machine. I bought a backup holder off Amazon, and was super disappointed with the quality, and ended up buying a 2nd one of those holders.
I originally bought one of the blades from the same place, but they are somewhat pricey. So the next time I bought some blades, it was off Amazon in the bundle packs.
The blades come in 3 different angels: 30,45,60 degrees. They are used for different types of materials. I used the 60 degree blade for vinyl because the thin point helps with small details. I use the 30/45 degree for thicker card stock.
This is the pack of blades I bought. It comes with a holder, but this was the one that was very cheap quality compared to the other. I just bought it for the blades.
I actually use Affinity's software quite a bit, between desktop & iPad with a Pen input. Affinity Designer is pretty amazing on the tablet:
The efficiency & optimizations they've done on done with the touch interface are just outstanding, I had no idea how amazing designing on a large mobile touchscreen could be!!
I don't have firsthand experience since I use the paid creative cloud, but usually plugins don't do any sort of checking for their host application. While I definitely don't condone cracking applications I don't see why they wouldn't work as long as the cracked versions are within the supported range of silhouette connect.
I would definitely recommend, if you're planning on using your cutter in any kind of professional (or hobby) environment where you're selling your creations, to get some sort of paid application. Having paid support can mean the difference between having a problem and still being able to hit a deadline vs being up a creek without any recourse. Affinity Designer is much lower cost than Illustrator and you can export the assets and import them into silhouette studio without too much fanfare.
Good Luck!
Here's the link! It's 110lb cardstock
I purchased a no-name heat press in 2018 off of amazon (my link). It has done me well, all though i never used the attachments. I ran a small Etsy shop selling HTV pressed kitchen towels and never had issues with this. Still working and doing what i want.
Looking back, it might have been a good idea to use the small round ones, for when i am pressing small items, but never did.
The way i look at it is there may be better, but nothing i've done made me have to have it.

I bought this one three years ago and have had no problems with it. Looks like Amazon doesn't carry it any longer though. I was thinking of getting this one right here:
I was using cardstock setting but no matter what blade I switched (from auto to manual 2mm) it was still not deep enough :(
Thank you, thank you, thank you! This issue has been driving me nuts with my wife's Cameo 4. I've been battling this issue for months so I'm glad I did another search. I'm fairly tech savvy, but there was no rhyme or reason as to why the bluetooth would connect sometimes, but not at other times.
I bought the $8 dongle you mentioned in your post, and it connects every single time now. In fact, I was patiently waiting for that one to arrive from Amazon, so I pulled the TP-Link BT dongle from my desktop and that one worked fine too. Silhouette obviously put a crappy one in there, but I'm happy it wasn't board mounted like I assumed. This needs to be a sticky at the top of this Subreddit because it will no doubt save many others from going crazy!
Link for those in this Subreddit - flip over your Cameo 4, remove the bluetooth cover/screw, remove the crappy one, and then put this one in its place: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0775YF36R?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
Get this Bluetooth dongle to swap out the one that comes with the machine.
The stock bt dongle has something wrong with it and I can't believe Silhouette hasn't addressed it. Another redditor here shared this with me and it worked like a charm.

Like everyone else says grab a couple sample packs - there’s a few popular ones on Amazon. I’d urge sticking to sheets unless there is a big project coming up and you know you need X aside from the ones listed below which will probably be in constant use.
Must haves:
Tools
Vinyls
I have one of these I use for weeding. When I am using registration marks i have shining on my Cameo where the print head gets it. It's helped a lot when using them. Good Luck!! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WHC5P8F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_Q9CV09FR6DRHJ7VFZ7S1
Assuming you have a Cameo, Silhouette makes a stamp making kit that makes stamps that are like those gel cling kind you stick to acrylic blocks. It doesn't do details super well, but it would do bigger designs and you could use a more permanent stamping ink like StazOn.
I haven't tried it, but I found out Nicapa mats work wonderfully and they're way cheaper than the cricut or silhouette.
I only got the light grip, but they have all the other kinds.
Not all of them. I bought the Yakamoz one and it fits nicely in the black ratchet blade adapter.

I'm an illustrator who makes stickers from home to sell. I don't personally use lamination or a spray coating on my matte printable vinyl stickers. I've found that the wear and tear is reasonable. It's usually water resistant, but after a while the printable layer rubs off and leaves behind the plain backing if handled a lot (like a water bottle or phone case). I'm so interested that people are saying PPD, because it's the first vinyl I tried and I actually really didn't like it. I think it goes to show that you'll need to try out some different stuff and see what works for you! Here is the vinyl that I'm currently using: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NX8M1LP?ref=pd_basp_dp_primary
I've tried a bunch, and this one takes inks really well so colors turn out better but it's also not TOO thin. The only thing is that it leaves kind of a weird powdery residue on my paper trimmer when I'm cutting them, but it's not too bad. My old favorite used to be Papilio, which I would still be using but I think it might have been discontinued. That stuff was thicc, I loved it.
I hope you're able to find something that works!
are the cameo 4 blades the same as the cameo 3 blades? the carrier in your photo looks exactly like our Cameo 3 and we use these blades as replacements, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G97TL5Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Your welcome!
I encourage you to get a machined blade holder and blades rather than the plastic ones from Silhouette. You really only need to change blades, not the entire blade holder. These are what the pro's use. They last longer and will save lots of money and plastic waste over time.
Here is a starter set from Amazon.
I got some on Amazon (this one) that is pretty cool! It’s neon pink in normal lighting, but glows yellow! I used it along with reflective vinyl from the same seller and Cricut gold to make my Chromeo shirts. This was my only HTV project really, so I can’t say how it compares to any other vinyl, but the colors were fun and it ironed on fine for me.
They are awesome! I got them from Amazon:

This is what I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01F2VZQWI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've never had an issue with it, in fact, I can use the same piece multiple times before I need to cut a new piece.
Edit: It's Craftopia
I've gone through 3 rolls of this stuff in the past year or so and I haven't had any issues. It won't pick up glitter vinyl and stuff like that but I use 100% Oracal 651 and it's been pretty much perfect:

I’m looking at it on my phone and honestly...I think maybe 2 times larger than that could even be alright. Personally, I would do a full 12x12 and put it in a scrapbook frame. I don’t know what you plan to do, but what I would do is this -
Cut the white in a matte or even pearl vinyl, (omg or even a flocked vinyl?!) stick it down to the second darker pink in a nice card stock, running it though for a second cut for the center. Then you could use mounting adhesive things to make it stand out from the lighter background.
If you wanted all paper though, use a nice cardstock (I like 80 lb for things like this) and a fresh blade for the white. You would want to use something like this double sided adhesive to mount it - this stuff is great
I would try the light stick mat rather than the regular. It’s going to be a beast to weed and pull. You may even have better luck cutting the white AND the double sided adhesive together, so that you just place the darker backing directly on and THEN pull it off your mat, if that makes sense. Just remember to mirror the image if you do something like that.
Love Oracal vinyl but I hate their transfer tape.
Try this from Amazon. I’ve been using it for years and it’s great!

Oracal 651 is great and what I use for almost all of my vinyl projects (siser for HTV) but the Oratape is TERRIBLE.
I have used this from Amazon for years and I love how things stick to it and it has the grid. It’s also pretty well priced and sometimes available in a 25 ft roll.

How waterproof/durable do you need them to be? Permanent or removable adhesive?
I have tried out a lot of printable vinyl and vinyl sticker paper. Oracal printable vinyl looks the worst when printed, but holds up the best. I bought random stuff on Amazon to try and had some good results.
This is my favorite for removable stickers: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RLLLQ2Y/ref=pe_2640190_232748420_pd_te_o_hl_p13n_cmpl_ti
This is my favorite for glossy permanent stickers: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NX2VK6K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I always use Oraguard glossy laminate or acrylic spray, depending on how I want it to look and feel. So far, everything has cut extremely well even with laminate. Just had to mess around to get the right combo of depth and pressure.
I use these...way overkill, but I got em free:
Aven 18069USA Pattern 6 Angled Fine Precision Tweezer, Stainless Steel, 4-3/4" Length, 3 Star Grade https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006RB8YZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_YJXxDb355WSQH
I've tried the hook things, the pointy "weeding pens", but end up back with the tweezers.
I have a couple that are now my go-to tapes.
I have a paper tape like you mentioned with the red grid and decided I really like the gridded stuff but wanted something clearer doe layering and just overall presentation. So I went with these:
Craftopia clear tape with a blue grid. You can get various sizes from Amazon and every roll comes with a free felt wrapped squeegee that is really nice. It works as well as the other scrapers but the felt keeps it from digging down too far and causing the tape to mold to the vinyl. I’ve never had a problem with it releasing Oracal 651 on any surface and have sold several decals and no complaints. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F2VZQWI
For smaller items I also have a roll of 6” wide TransferRite clear tape. It also has the blue grid and is actually a little clearer than the Craftopia tape. It seems thinner - more like packing tape but again... zero problems and I interchange this with the Craftopia all the time. I’d recommend either very highly. The main difference is the TransferRite tape does not have its own backing. Actually I just looked and it seems the 6” is out of stock right now but here is the link to the https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B38LMEA The main reason I didn’t but this in a 12” was because it lacks a backing sheet and I wanted something I could throw on a smaller decal without cutting “chunks” out of my 12” rolls. But I believe you can get the Craftopia in a 6” versión as well which is what I’ll buy once my current roll of TransferRite runs out if it’s not back in stock by then.
Hope this helps. Good luck with whatever you choose.
I can only echo what others have already stated. An Easy Press, for any decent size, is going to cost you as much if not more than a 15x15 clamshell press.... and you still have to manually apply pressure. This means you need to have an area to put it on that you can press down hard.. an ironing board will not do. Think tile floor, sturdy table, etc...
I bought this one https://www.amazon.com/Fancierstudio-Industrial-Quality-Digital-15-Inch-Sublimation/dp/B0043H7DVU just before Christmas and made 12 shirts with it the first week I had it. LOVE IT! It's so much easier than trying to stand on an iron or worrying about the vinyl shifting. And if you are making adult sized shirts, it's a great size. You can press the entire thing at one time without having to worry about whether the pressure is the same over the entire design. With Prime shipping it came in under $200 (including sales tax) and comes with a teflon sheet.
Suggestion, get some nice strong magnets and once you get the teflon sheet where you want it against the top plate of the press, use magnets to hold it in place. Then you don't have to worry about forgetting it or losing it.
Alcohol was a good idea (although the item is metal with a finish, not plastic). The ticket paper I use is https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VKV2H4/ I imagine there is better, but I've been happy with it and the price seems very reasonable.
