Here's an article I wrote on Steemit vs Reddit.
https://steemit.com/steemit/@cryptoindex/is-steemit-the-next-reddit
Steemit has got a lot of problems now (spammy posts, spammy bots, curation only works for upvoting whales etc.) but in the long run I think it will perform well.
Those poor souls have confused SBD for the main currency of Steemit and are on a road to massive monetary loss. I posted about this on my steemit.
No, you can't make a living. I have a voting power of a little over 3500 (which would cost you about $4000) and my full upvote power is around 50 cents. Now if you buy a lot of Steem AND make consistently good content you could make a decent amount.
https://steemit.com/@jerrybanfield is one of the top earners i believe but he puts a lot of time into his posts and had a large initial investment (I think $35,000 worth of Steem) and his posts are usually $100-300 multiple times a day. But he only gets 75% because 25% goes to people that resteem and upvote his posts.
Then you have to wait for your account to "power down". When you get rewards you can choose 50/50 split between Steem power and Steem Dollars. The dollars you can cash out right away but the Steem power takes 10 weeks to turn the full amount into Steem so you can sell it on an exchange.
Sign up and work hard for a few week trying to make good content and see how it goes. Most people don't get a huge following quickly at all. I've been on there for 2 months and have ~150 followers, but I don't really make money.
Here's why this post only made 33 cents for you on Steemit Willi!
https://steemit.com/@willidungl/transfers
You didn't INVEST shit in Steem Power. You are coasting on the freebie's like a Communist.
Now, reach down count your capitalist balls, make sure you have two, and go buy $10,000 worth of Steem Power.
Then your posts will generate more money, your votes will have more influence, you will be protected from the dilution on Steem and you will make 10% on the cash you put in. Then you can stop crying like a little wuss.
Oh and if you actually submit something more interesting than re-posts from Reddit that everybody has already read, you also might get more up votes.
As it stands, you are just a poor person complaining that the rich people get treated better than you and eat nicer food than you do and bang prettier girls than you do.
Buy Steem Power and read the White Paper crybaby.
FYI ... got tired of waiting and just signed up using Anon Steem. It was worth .6 LTC to get it done.
Best wishes!
Only affiliated with Anon Steem due to buying their sign-up service, nothing else.
no no bot every blockchain has a reverse transactyion option... no one of them do... once a transaction has become irreversable it cannot be reversed... you can hardfork all you want but then your just hardforking after the fact, and noone NO ONE will fork steem just to get the money back of ONE account... (This isnt Golos.io )
When Anyx calls out Carlidos on his stolen content (highlighted comment) https://steemit.com/honest/@carlidos/apology-post-regarding-some-of-my-content#@anyx/re-carlidos-re-merej99-re-anyx-re-merej99-re-anyx-re-carlidos-apology-post-regarding-some-of-my-content-20161012t212428931z
Anyx KNOWS the content is stolen and there is no way Carlidos can prove he paid for it. Now he's just giving Carlidos enough rope to hang himself.
I need a little more upvote love to be able to post these more efficiently.
If you support the curie project please upvote these posts and comments and be sure to check out our featured authors each day :)

Yes, looks like something is very broken. The most recent post is from an hour ago.
If you check the global "created" page - https://steemit.com/created/ - then occasionally one or two new posts will show up, but after exactly 60 seconds they disappear again.
Looks like submitting a new post is impossible at the moment.
EDIT: confirmation from the top of the steemit pages, they say they're currently running in read only mode due to "server maintenance". Doesn't say whether this is planned maintenance or an unplanned problem, but at least they're now finally on the case.
Cheetah is a copy-detection bot. It downvotes stolen content
If your content is legitimate and you're still being downvoted you should contact the bot's creator @anyx
That story was stolen from a professional journalist.
Read about it here: https://steemit.com/steem/@tuck-fheman/red-flag-5-years-addicted-to-heroin-my-story-told-in-pictures-from-article-written-in-january
It’s been a few months since I read about it. I think it was a Steemit user/believer who happens to be a JavaScript developer out of work so he gave himself something to do. There were other Steem powered video projects but none panned out so he just made it. It’s come a long way since it was first released too, it’s much better and easier to use.
Here’s his Steemit post from the day he released it
https://steemit.com/steemit/@pascalwitzig/help-what-s-the-advantage-of-blockchain-driven-steemit-over-e-g-reddit Basically, I'm wondering what if reddit rewards users with their own tokens, e.g., karma, at which point steem does not have an advantage at incentivizing users? Karma does not serve as currency bcoz it can be generated infinitely but any currency must be scarce? Maybe u can enlighten me.
Too bad the "journalist" (https://twitter.com/Andrew_McMillen) that wrote the piece didn't address Steemit's ongoing plagiarism problem. https://steemit.com/@steemcleaners/comments
Rampant copy/pasting of stolen content is an ongoing issue on Steemit. And no, copy/pasting with a link to the original isn't okay. Content theft is still content theft, even if you link to the original. If you admire someone's writing or photography, ask them if they offer an embed code you can use.
Steemit = Plagiarism at Scale
Lbry is very much up and running (even did a quick review of it on Steemit). As a user of both Dtube and LBRY, the only thing Dtube has going for it over LBRY is the established Steemit userbase at it's disposal. LBRY you can get paid for your content forever, with Dtube you have what, one weeks time? I wouldn't necessarily call it a YouTube alternative if you wish to have compensation for your videos more than past a week. That being said, Dtube is awesome that it is just seamless with Steemit, if payout adjustments just to that site could be made in some way, it would be a killer.
Don't go to just one blockchain, put your content on both LBRY and Dtube if you want your video to have maximum amount of exposure, they really aren't competition I believe and it is just beneficial to have both available for users imo.
I agree it needs to be more instant. My guess is it's to prevent users from making mass accounts since they are going to be worth $.
I don't think it's a pyramid scheme, just that the rewards are like a pyramid. eg. the guys at the top get everything and the ones at the bottom get nothing. Users get rewarded to vote for content from whales no matter how good or bad it is. Curation = just vote for the fattest whale and you will get some Steem.
Since it's so hard to earn steem unless you have a mass following your only option is to buy it. Guess who is selling it to you? The guys at the top.
I actually just wrote an article that gives some of the points: https://steemit.com/steemit/@cryptoindex/is-steemit-the-next-reddit
We are both starting early so maybe in a few years we will both be whales :)
Hello! Thank you for your interest in our service and social activity 🙂 We’re pleased about that.
You’re right that we spread info about our service. We need feedback from the crypto community to understand what we’re doing right and what we’re doing wrong¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Of course, there are plenty of options to spread the word about our project, but the feedback from the people on Reddit is important to us. Because here, people are not afraid to express their point of view or criticize, this, in turn, will move us in the right way.
SwapSpace team will be glad if you can take a look at our project and share your thoughts about that. You can write a review on Trustpilot or drop an email to
This isn't comparable to a hardware wallet at all in terms of security.. if you want to create an actually secure wallet on the cheap, see my guide here
https://steemit.com/faq.html#What_is_the_difference_between_STEEM__STEEM_Power__and_Steem_Dollars
What is the difference between STEEM, STEEM Power, and Steem Dollars?
STEEM - STEEM is the base liquid currency token in the platform. STEEM can be powered up into STEEM Power, traded for Steem Dollars, and transferred to other accounts. It is a cryptocurrency token, similar to bitcoin.
STEEM Power - STEEM Power (abbreviated SP) is a measurement of how much influence a user has in the Steem network. The more STEEM Power a user holds, the more they can influence the value of posts and comments. STEEM Power is less liquid. If a user wishes to “Power Down” SP, they will receive equal distributions of the STEEM weekly, over a 13 week period.
Steem Dollars - Steem Dollars (commonly abbreviated SBD) are liquid stable-value currency tokens designed to be pegged to $1 USD. Steem Dollars can be traded with STEEM, and transferred to other accounts for commerce or exchange. Steem Dollars may also be converted into STEEM in a process that takes 3.5 days. Steem Dollars can be used to buy things in marketplaces, such as PeerHub.com.
so Steem has a market cap above $500 million and doesnt even have an official wallet?
I don't trust third party apps like https://freewallet.org although its probably fine.
If I'm buying large amounts of a crypto I want a wallet that I control. Same with Bittrex - thats an exchange, I don't want to store lots of crypto on on exchange
Your reading it right. Thats the power of Terrahashes my friend. They take two weeks to ship due to testing prior to shipping and no AntBleed. I get a larger discount on bulk orders over 2k so let me know if you are interested. You can also go to https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/btc I wouldn't recommend spending your hash power on btc right now but you can input the info for other currency
I've been using it for a while now on iOS and it's really well designed app.
I've noticed a few small bugs, like PIVX constantly being on 8,42% in my watchlist (this might happen for other coins as well but I didn't test it).
I also see on https://getdelta.io that you could see a chart on the cards of your holdings. This is an awesome feature, why was this removed in the newer versions?
I recently switched to Blockfolio again because of that issue with PIVX. I'm not sure if I can trust the information given by the application, hence switching back to Blockfolio. I hope this will be resolved soon because I want to switch back to Delta again! I'll try reinstalling the app, see if something maybe messed up the app during the update.
People on Steemit who have their own rules and can't accept the simple fact that posting facts isn't plagiarism.
This latest comment by Anyx shows that he still doesn't grasp Carlidos' theft. The articles were not "provided" to Carlidos - he stole them. There was no discussion/agreement as to end use; the content was stolen without the writers' knowledge. https://steemit.com/honest/@carlidos/apology-post-regarding-some-of-my-content#@anyx/re-shadowspub-re-carlidos-re-shadowspub-re-anyx-re-carlidos-apology-post-regarding-some-of-my-content-20161013t010033362z

I don't know how to help but I posted your problem on SteemIt. Some chance it will get visibility. Maybe you should try to connect with people on SteemIt.chat about the problem you're having.
You can use the CLI client steemd to do everything, including mining STEEM with your CPU. The web site is just a front end for the steemd network.
