It’s called ‘Helping Hands.’ They’re typically used for soldering, but work great for holding things while animating. I used to buy them at Radio Shack, but they can still be found in hobby shops or online. Amazon also sells a smaller version of them.
Thank you! Well for the armature, you can simply buy it on amazon (here's a link). I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to make the head for my stop-motion puppet. I spend hours on the web. and ended up buying this monster clay stuff (here's a link). If softens by how much you heat it up and then you can spend as long as you want to mold and create your character. When I was done with that, I froze it and then sprayed it with some primer. Then all that was left was to have some fun painting and mounted it onto my stop motion armature! If you have any questions feel free to dm me. I will probably respond in the next day or so.
Dragon frame has a basic chroma key tool built into it, so if your flying shot has a static camera you could make your rig green and shoot a background plate and do everything within the program.
If your shot is more complicated, you could try using a free alternative to After Effects like Fusion (Win) or Pixel Conduit (Mac). But you'll be dealing with the learning curve of learning a new software.
I would also recommend this book. It is written by some professional stop-motion artists who specialize in animating Lego. (also called brickfilms) It is very useful in learning specific Lego technics.
I have a stand clip thing for me phone. I used it to steady my phone and used this stop motion app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cateater.stopmotionstudio
My kid had some waxed yarn that is pliable yet sticky and it's the perfect medium for stop animation.
I've never done this before but I understand there principals of animation which helped.
I bought it on amazon, it's from neewer, I recommend it, one side is green while the other one is blue, easy to carry too. Link: https://www.amazon.it/Neewer-Chromakey-Pieghevole-Fotografia-150x200/dp/B00E89Q5OY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=neewer+green+screen&qid=1593816677&sr=8-3
Here are the lights on Neewer's site They are actually "660's". Amazon has them for a decent price right now for $149 . You don't need a DSLR with a focal lens, but it does give you full control. I have shot full sequences on the iPhone alone and had great success.
I'm not advertising anything in particularly, but I got this Minecraft stopmotion set for my nephew last X-mas, and he seemed to enjoy it for a while.
Nice job! Try to keep the camera in focus (how blurry or clear the images is and what range it is clear at) and the set stable though. When I started I had this same issue, but it's a super easy fix.
Get some poster tack http://www.amazon.ca/Elmers-Poster-Reusable-Adhesive-E1531/dp/B000BKQDB4 like this, roll it into small balls and stick it under objects you don't want moving, such as the stationary car I use this on my videos all the time for background objects and under the feet of figures to keep their feet from sliding.
With the focus issue, all you need to do is turn off auto focus, your camera is trying to focus on the car which makes it out of focus for a few seconds while you're taking the picture. All you gotta do is make it so that its on manual focus or MF so that it doesn't attempt to change the focus in the middle of the shots.
Good luck and Happy Animating!
