Yeah, there's a lot of garbage. My favorite cases are the ones provided my manufacturers. I'd try to buy one of these used on ebay: I like zipper cases from Maui Jim, Kaenon and Costa Del Mar. And Maui Jim & Serengeti Clamshell cases. Bolle velcro cases. If you were in the US I'd send you one as I have dozens of them I never use.
I actually use these instead of cases. Easier to use in bags, car carriers, cup holders etc. You can easily grab them with one hand without fumbling with a case.

CAT4 lenses will block out most of the visible light along with the glare. However, it is illegal to wear them for driving.

Silicone nose rest will always be softer and more comfortable than hard acetate as long as you go for the right solution.
Also with acetate integrated nose rests it all depends on the curvature/shape of your nose and the frame. It can be a large area but due to the shapes only part of that area will be making contact, making it no different than small nose pads.
One other thing with acetate frames is that they can slide down your nose more easily as acetate is slippery due to your natural oils from the skin. This can be overcome by properly shaping the temple tips, however so they grip around your ears better.

There's plenty of cheap sunglasses with polycarbonate lenses which inherently blocks almost all UV a/b light. It's surprising how many cheap sunglasses are perfectly fine for the uv protective aspect. https://youtu.be/1ACWTG8I7KY <-shows what I'm saying. However, higher quality lenses offer much better quality of vision, better clarity, less backside reflection, etc.
If you have a normal/smaller head I'd recommend something similar to these, polycarbonate lens, I like the metal side shields when I'm mowing the lawn to avoid stuff flying into my eyes

You might consider looking into Revo's catalog as had a couple Revo pairs in the past hinting of this style, similar to the Tate model. I was always impressed with Revo quality.

The best stuff comes from Mazzucchelli in Italy. Maybe they will sell you some scraps? Probably to expensive for what you are doing though. For the experiments you are trying to do, I would start with the cheap Chinese stuff. Either way it is going to be hard to find in small quantities.

This conversation got me thinking I need some of the gray-green polarized lenses, so just purchased these. They should be similar to the ones you're looking at, only no blue mirror (which will affect the color some). I will have them tomorrow, and can post some through the lens video.

Lots of retailers who sell Ray-Ban will have options for polarized lenses, and a lot of opticals will be able to order them for you from the manufacturer. You can definitely get them online, it’s weird that Ray-Ban doesn’t have them. As the other commenter mentioned, Sunglass Hut is great. Amazon has a few as well. Good luck :)

They are SUPER dark and look great. Roundies never go out of style, really, just like Aviators and Wayfarers. The "steampunk" element to it is just a bit of scrollwork on the blinders and the large springs on the sides, but man, they are the best glasses I've ever owned. The blinders really help with keeping the sun out of the sides and they come with a case and microfiber cloth. About 20 bucks shipped, too.

I bought these sunglasses at Coachella this year and they recently broke on a backpacking trip. Although they were cheap sunglasses (bought them for $15) they have been my favorite that I have owned. I'm hoping they're somewhere on Amazon for like $5-$10. The inscription on the inside says they're made in China and the other side says 'W3174' if that helps.The frame is a see-through gray
