12$ on amazon - BicycleStore® 2 Pcs Adjustable Universal Handlebar Rearview Mirror 360° Rotate Bike MTB For Bicycle Cycling Black (T2 2pcs) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010V96PKI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Ou5aybMCH06PC
This might not work on all bikes, but I highly recommend looking into it. I bought an otter box defender case. Looks like 26 bucks on amazon. It comes with a belt clip thing. Pry the clip part off the back of this thing, then drill a couple holes in it and zip tie it to your bars, right in between the bar clamps. Line the zip ties up so they are just touching the insides of the clamps so they hold it from sideways motion. Then just clip the phone in. I do this on my WR250r that I off road with. The phone will not come out, even in a crash, and it's low profile with sideways mounting. I flip it to face inward off road, and it's completely protected and still quickly accessible. I know this isn't as easily done on the DRZ as the instrument cluster is kinda in the way... you would need some kinda spacer to hold it up higher. Also recommend get a pebble smart watch and just strap that to your bars. It will give turn by turn directions, and will show texts, and let you send canned texts with just a few simple button clicks. The buttons are huge and easy to press with gloves on.
Yep! The bike was pretty much stock when I got it. I rode it for a few weeks to get a feel for it, and then started making upgrades in the last week to better suit my riding. So far I have upgraded:
I plan on doing a 320mm rotor/caliper kit, exhaust/header, and possibly new headlight in the future. But I'm pretty happy with the bike as is right now.

Here's a 5 pack male-female for 8$. Will look harder for a single plug later but i'm on lunch break atm and gtta get back to work. None the less not a bad deal for 8$
these are also in my amazon cart if the turnies in this guy cant be made visible somehow...
edit: fuck it i bought em.
This knockoff Fox one. Haven’t worn it on-road as I have a vented jacket for street riding, but it works great under a jersey in the dirt.

Thanks! iPhoneX... taillight is attached via 3M VHB double-sided tape - this stuff is amazing! Same stuff GoPro uses for their sticky mounts if that tells you anything.
>a ring around the top of them that is cup shaped.
Do you mean like this?
Not sure if this is exactly what you wanted but I've seen this guys on facebook https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2012746695514049
Not OP, but I’ve converted multiple bikes by using a rechargeable 12V battery like this Also get a charger for the battery
I’d use Tamiya or bullet connectors for easy disconnecting or charging. I also normally wire the headlight and taillight to separate switches, that way you can choose to run just a taillight (or no lights at all, if you choose) during the day and save a lot of your battery. Obviously a lot cheaper than doing a stator swap but it’s also a lot more sketch but I’ve never had an issue across 4-5 bikes like that. And the lights will last for 4-5 hours on one battery if you run all LED.
What kind of handguards do you have? Do they go into the end of the bar? If so, I got these and mounted them onto the outside metal of the handbar. Works great and easy to remove for trail riding...

Buy bar end mirrors remove the bar end part and just clamp to your bars
The bikelitez looks the best by far imo. The quality isn't the best but the light bar looks good and once it's installed you can't see mediocre quality. https://www.amazon.com/Husqvarna-SUPERMOTO-FENDER-ELIMINATOR-INTEGRATED/dp/B01N9VKRKS/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=97PKHTNR3TBP&keywords=bikelitez+701&qid=1654720646&sprefix=bikelitez+701%2Caps%2C79&sr=8-3&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.18ed3cb...
Motobox makes a similar one that is (probably) better quality but of course costs more. Although, I'm not a fan of where the plate is mounted on this one. https://motoboxusa.com/products/husqvarna-slimline-fender-eliminator
It easy. 😅 They are something like these ones: https://www.amazon.com/MICTUNING-Universal-Motorcycle-Mirrors-Kawasaki/dp/B07FCCJR87/ref=sr_1_1?crid=P2XLT90O10WB&keywords=bar+end+mirrors&qid=1654603685&sprefix=bar+end+mirro%2Caps%2C200&sr=8-1
There is plenty of similar ones available. But they are obviously not mounted on the end of the bar.
So as the title states, I'm looking at this heavily modified 2005 KTM 450 here.
The owner states that
"Cerokated frame and motor, GPR exhaust, wp come valve suspension, pro taper bars, enduro engineering seat, led headlight, oversized aluminum rads with fans, dash, 1100 miles, push start, and kick, pegs, and a bunch of mojo bolt ons and anodized orange, hi po kick stand, hydraulic clutch, oversized rotors, brembo brakes, digital battery, chain and sprockets, I’m sure I’m missing more. It’s a lot done. I’ve kept the oil changed every few rides. Don’t need to that much but I kept it fresh. All motorex oil only, only issues is the rear tire and the digitial Speedo is off so will need a new wheel piece for it to make it accurate. It’s like a $50 part."
I'm a new rider and not experienced with rebuilding large parts of engines. I'm more than willing to learn, but I'm not familiar enough with bikes to make an educated buy on this.
Any help?
I got the headlight from Aliexpress for like 30-40€ and so far works perfectly. I had to rewire it a bit, so I can only have this "LED stripe" lit.
Mirrors are these ones: https://www.amazon.com/MICTUNING-Universal-Motorcycle-Mirrors-Kawasaki/dp/B07FCCJR87/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3RQT8FU81VAO9&keywords=bar+end+mirrors&qid=1643285748&sprefix=bar+end+mirro%2Caps%2C238&sr=8-5
But they are obviously not mounted at the bar end :)
You need this thing: BikeMaster Turn Signal Diode Kit HO002001 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DYS3A56/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_a_PJKPG5T6EK1C3M0MPPBY
Open the assembly of the front light, from there you will have access to the lines that go to the blinker signal. The installation is straightforward.
Also I would recommend to change the relay of the signals with a solid state relay.
I bought the spot model of this led light and it was fucking bright, only used one on my DRZ
I use a quadlock with one of these looped around the base in case my phone comes loose. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072595S4G/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_F7XMDWPJ9C8YTWD9P4TV
It's never come out of my mount but it makes me feel better
The guy wouldnt come down on his price any so now im gonna be lookin into this one

Hes willing to take 3k for it...i seen it in my area for 2400 but it was bought real fast(within 2hr of post) before i could even have a chance at it, so the guy must be a flipper.
Anywhere from 2k-6k, mate. You should be able to find something in your price range.
If you can afford to get a '12, get it. That gets you EFI and some other shit. If that's a bit too much for you, consider an '07 onwards. That gives you the aluminium frame.
If you can't afford that, just get whatever fits your budget, but if it's a wee bit of a push to get to an '07, I'd go for it.

>Now, would you take that 14SM at $4,800 or this 16SM at $4,800? The 16 comes with 2 sets of tires (both street, the guy said). Seems to have a hell of a lot of mods.

Something like this, but they are obviously not mounted to the end of the bars: https://www.amazon.com/MICTUNING-Universal-Motorcycle-Mirrors-Kawasaki/dp/B07FCCJR87/ref=sr\_1\_6?dchild=1&keywords=bar+end+mirrors+for+motorcycles&qid=1634460151&sr=8-6
What about electric? For example: Segway Ninebot Electric Dirt Bike Motocross https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088D9XHXH/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_3KF9NJP741Y2EBCGA4Z8 Swap the tires and you've got a sweet SuperMoto
The Segway is actually Sur/Ron Light Bee https://m.alibaba.com/pla_detail.html?mark=google_shopping&biz=pla_wap&keyword=Moto+Elettrica&product_id=1600083766906&cid=205778108&pcate=201140001&language=en&pcy=US&device_type=wap&channelType=google&curr...
But they are obviously not mounted at the end of the handlebars :)
The 701 is nice! I was deciding between it and the 690, but they are really identical under the plastics and paint scheme and I am a "KTM guy", so stuck with orange. Looks nice next to my 500 EXC-F :)
Its this stuff (seems like "normal" PLA ): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PGY2JP1/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Like a few people mentioned give it a week or so to get used to, don't worry how you look to others. But if it keeps feeling unsafe and price is an issue to have them internally lowered you can get a rear shock lowering link, and loosen the front triple clamps and slide the fork tubes up. You can look a bit more for a reputable brand, but for an example these lowering links will drop it 2" https://www.amazon.com/DRZ-400-Lowering-links-lowering/dp/B00LU3WSTM . If that feels better you can invest in getting the shocks and forks done by a shop later. But even with the link, forks, and maybe low-seat you might be more comfortable and can do that at home.
Temporarily to get my safety inspection I used these, that I found at Oreilly's.
Instead of sticking it on I just drilled 2 holes on opposite sides of the circle mount and trimmed it around the holes and then ran a zip tie around the bar next to my levers, also used a small piece of two way tape to stop it from spinning. Worked good enough, can't complain for the price.. I had the round one but the rectangle one would be clean too.
Use a disc lock that has an alarm when bumped. I attached a Tile to a secret place on my bike where they won't find it and trash it so I can track down my bike.

This and some screwdrivers, pliers, etc from harbor freight. Get a torque wrench too. Craftsman is good for that. I like the craftsman set for the sockets because everything is in one box. Lots of Allen keys, torx etc
If you're planning on doing them your self, the Motion Pro Beadpro are great tire irons because they help you break the bead. Their Rim Shields are really good too.
Husqvarna FMF Factory 4.1 RCT Silencer UHP1505031 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0778XN6VH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_jcGeFbV8EJG58 Fmf has the same model with the ktm sticker on it I believe. Came with the quiet core 94db insert as well
LED Plate nuts wouldn't be too hard to add...
if you're running handguards with shields, this is hands down the best option.

That's interesting. After I changed the gearing on mine I tested it using this:
Just copy and paste the part numbers u/pputkowski posted into google. Here is an amazon link I literally just googling the part numbers he shared.
I generally hate bilt stuff, but I wanted a pair of Kevlar Jeans for cheap so I decided to try the Iron Workers. They work well enough. They are baggy as fuck, but do shrink when washed as any jean would. The pockets are small, they are not very attractive, the zipper likes to fall down, but I am happy to have them. I feel much better about doing dumb shit in them than I do in my regular jeans. I usually ride in leathers though. I got a nice pair of Joe Rocket leathers for 100 bucks off Craig's list. Look for used stuff, there is a ton of gear that gets bought and used once.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NCNSAN5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_VMBQzbAB364VH On mobile, sorry for the long link. They are apparently out of the H4, which is what the drz has. This is the one I just got. It's really nice. Fit was tight but it works. If you are okay spending a little more, maybe go with a slightly brighter one. Around 4-5k lumens if you ride at night a lot. I understand about the size. Sound tone and loudness okay for you or would you want to change that too?
I found these rescue pegs which just extend the length of the stock foot peg. Not planning on taking any serious corners with my girlfriend on the back so I think they would work nicely. https://www.amazon.com/Rescue-Pegs-off-road-passenger-footpegs/dp/B00FCC4YJO/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1504721480&sr=1-1&keywords=off+road+passenger+footpegs
Wonder why they charge so much for that, here's 4x more for a good price!
No complaints for $15 mirrors. You can actually see behind you instead of just your torso like the little convex one that PO had on. The mirrors move on the posts a bit, so you'll be adjusting them, but the posts lock in fine. They've been down a lot of singletrack and take the abuse, and look way better than the giant stock squares on the Drz.
Yeah I was using hose clamps and zip ties before I bought those handguard brackets lol it was super ghetto.
Here's the link for the lightbar:

Amazon. I had some trouble getting them in the right spot. Half of the mirror is blocked by my stomach, I can't find a good angle but it works. One on each side. These are the ones I got from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002GTKAHQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Invest in one of these fork savers if you're hauling it very often.. Definitely helps save the fork seals and is super cheap.
Honestly you're in for a lot of work, definitely possible though. Online is going to be a go to for parts however with it being somewhat older you may find someone parting out on craigslist. Most of the stuff you need can be bought separately or in a kit for a cheaper. Quick search found the ignition
As for wiring, enjoy! Youtube videos are about as good as its going to get.
If you decide to scrap the project i have an 07 drz400sm im looking to sell, just south of pittsburgh, great price.
