The reason why there is an expense ration for some commodity ETFs is because these funds own futures. Futures get marketed to market and that cost gets passed down to the investors.
yahoo is not realtime either, it's delayed data. btw. try tradingview.com instead of yahoo for charts. No one is allowed to give real time data to stock market for free, you need to sign an agreement to get that -- which you get when you open a real broker account.
Now may not be the best time to short. Stocks are well off their highs and we're due for a bounce.
I suggest the book Make Money Selling Stocks Short for learning where and when to short profitably.
You probably have a shitty (gaming?) desktop screen whereas the laptop is probably 8bit IPS.
All high refresh rate monitors have shitty colors. No one ever mentions that. But now you've seen.
Great colors on Desktop are 10bit IPS panels that cost around $1000 & are all 60Hz. Heck even renewed it's going for $950 https://www.amazon.com/Dell-30-Inch-Led-Lit-Monitor-Renewed/dp/B07P83JHP9
ToS is a Java based application so it by default has limits on memory usage as all Java apps do. You can work around this by increasing the amount of memory used before logging in. On the login screen click the gear icon and on the bottom of the options page you'll see two fields labeled "Memory usage:" The default is 32-768. I set mine to 512-52376, but I have a lot of memory as this is also my dev box. If you machine has 8GB of system RAM then I'd set the maximum amount to no more than 6144. If you have 16GB then I set it at 12288. But if you want to get serious, I'd invest in a box with 64GB.
Memory is the elixir of life (and speed) to ANY application, including HTML5/JS. My experience has been that due to the interpreted and duck-typed nature of JavaScript and the incredibly complex nature of rendering HTML pages, that HTML5 apps tend to use more memory per feature than native apps.
Another thing to check on is your internet download speed. Receiving real-time market data is like drinking from a fire-hose. Especially if you have multiple symbols running at the same time. My connection is 300/25. Run this and post the results: https://www.speedtest.net/
(Edited: Added thought about internet connection speed.)
They're part of Charles Schwab. Although they're not fully merged yet. CS does offer a sign up bonus for referred parties but not to the referrer.

That could be a trailing stop. In a trailing stop, when the stock rises to $41, your hypothetical sell price would rise to $36 (or you could set it up to go up by a similar percentage instead of a dollar amount).
~~You are describing a stop limit sell.~~
Oh nice!, it's kind of annoying to have this box up but I guess it works. I wish there was a way to just have the prices marked on the price axis part of the chart though.
Question, is the Y: the medium here? https://www.screencast.com/t/wmgf6ZyB
Hmm, mine doesn't seem to do that. I am using TOS.
Here is a screenshot

I'm using someone's shared workbook, that orange line is a moving average, so you can dismiss that mark on the side.
Are you able to open a live account? I opened both live and paper at the same time with 0 deposit.
Other than that, you can use any real time data source and use those 2 paper tabs to trade. tradingview.com is a commonly used chart tool but I haven't used it personally so I can't say anything about it.
You cannot look up or trade Canadian stocks on TOS. If you're looking for free analysis for TSX/TSX-V/CSE, try using tools like TradingView.com or Barchart.com which offer free accounts.
You can open Wise Multi Currency Account and add money to it with credit/debit card (processing fee around 1-4%). You can then transfer from USD account balance to TD Ameritrade with ACH transfer with just 1.05$ fixed fee for any amount.

This is MetaTrader 5 which gives you more options on how the moving average is calculated and as you can see there's an option called "previous indicator's data" which changes the display of the moving average a little when you see it in the other indicator
Any - basically L2 visualization. I'm looking at /ES mostly. The mobile ToS app kind of does something similar. Would love something similar on desktop. color bars are differentiated and size differentiation. https://www.screencast.com/t/GmUKNNFkfxt
For TOS memory is allocated at the log-in screen. There's a gear in the lower left corner you click to get to that. I used to run several different speed test apps, but now I use only the one from speedtest.net. I don't know which is the best, I'm interested in consistency to find day to day differences. Using several different apps doesn't tell me that. You can get it here: https://www.speedtest.net/apps/desktop. PIA sent me the following response (in part) while working through the issue: To get an accurate picture of where the latency issues are, we would need to see: - Sometimes speed issues can be caused by a bad hop on the route to the server you are connecting to, or the site you are trying to visit. The best way to determine this is with an MTR test. An MTR test is a broad-spectrum diagnostic that can identify where connections are failing and may identify what's causing your connection to fail. Please be aware that MTR tests can only be run on Windows, MacOS, or Linux. However, as the test is being done to assess your network, not specific devices, the device used to run the test is not relevant to the result. Also, please ensure you run the test while using the specific ISP network that is at issue.
You can download the MTR software from this site here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/winmtr/
I ran 4 cases: With and without VPN connected to google.com then with and without the VPN connected to the VPN server I was connecting to.
I use an orb weaver for hotkeys in TOS. Programming both the CTRL key and the specified key, at the same time. I program them with unused keys, spaced between them, to help prevent accidental presses. I do wish TOS would let you program the orders based on hotkeys, or percentages of the account, for scalping. In Webull, I can, but Webull banking sucks ass.

I am using this beautiful little machine and have no issues whatsoever: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08GCS3G7V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I been a TOS user for 7 years and I visit China for 2-week-long visits twice a year. TOS tends to be horrendously slow using the local networks. The "loading" start up prior to login could take an hour. I had resigned myself to closing out all positions before flying to China and take a break from the market.
But last year I finally decided to pay for VPN so I could access social media and I noticed a dramatic difference in TOS loading speeds. The difference is night and day. With a VPN, TOS loads about 10% slower than when I'm back home. So it's still slightly slower but light years ahead of not using VPN.
Bottomline: Pay for a VPN if you intend to access TOS (or Tastyworks) in China. FYI I used ExpressVPN which was $8 for a month I think, a tiny price to pay.
Do you have the Tos mobile trader or the TDA app? They are pretty different. You want this one
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devexperts.tdmobile.platform.android.thinkorswim
compared to robinhood, it's not going to feel as sleek or pretty, or simple
Hi,
The app that you must use is this for android devices
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devexperts.tdmobile.platform.android.thinkorswim
Was thinking of this one.
Looks like the price went up. Darn it. It was $480 just a few days ago.
Ryzen 5 processor. I assume that's comparable to the i5.
I've been reading Pivots, Patterns, and Intraday Swing Trades lately and there, the recommended 3 frames of the day (which can vary day to day) run from 9:30 - 11:15, 11:15 - 2:30 and 2:30 - 4:00. Each transition is about +/- 45 minutes. I like the idea of closing premarket trades by 9:00. Another idea to consider (esp if using DTBP) is to close out post-market trades by 8:00 pm.
Was looking into laptops with the Ryzen processor due to this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/LaptopDeals/comments/gunt89/best_general_use_laptops_updated_for_june_2020/
But haven't really found anything within my budget. Considering this one, has a Ryzen 5.

Just putting up with my macbook for now. I believe Amazon's Prime Day is on the 6th so will wait to see if there are any deals on laptops.
