If you want to get freaked out by tornadoes, research the Jarrell tornado. This is a decent write up.
Here is a pretty intense series of articles about the Joplin tornado from the POV of the coroner. I think it does a good job of setting the scene, showing the hardship the community faced and the struggle towards recovery.
So little update one is confirmed tornado it’s definitely a decent sized one as well https://www.accuweather.com/en/severe-weather/tornado-strikes-madill-oklahoma-wednesday-afternoon/727026
I’ve always loved The Tornado Girl (source) photo that Merrilee Thomas took of her daughter in Nebraska (April 1989).
She entered the image in a National Kodak Contest that same year and it won 2nd place:).
I just looked up that book, and the lowest price was $632!
Sounds like he's working on an update up to 2019 though.

Don't buy it on Amazon. $135 seems excessive for a book.

Pilger, NE EF4 twins, well documented on video.
It does look a lot like that book! I’d always check it out from the library as a kid.
Along with Twisters: Nature’s Fury, that also looks quite alike.
They make above ground that is just as strong as below ground. You can easily build an above ground that follows ICC/NSSA standards.
According to a few published studies there has been a noticeable shift eastward over the past several decades.
This article breaks things down in more simple terms.
A tornado will be whipping debris at 100mph or more. Aside from that, anchored homes can withstand maybe up to an EF2 wind speeds but many homes are not anchored properly. And what if a derecho hits? Straight lines winds can be just as damaging to mobile homes.
The bottom line is why isn't there a FEMA approved storm shelter for your mobile home park?
The one I got was the one James Spann recommends: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00176T9OY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I think you can set the warnings for your county only AND set the type of warning to JUST tornado warnings, otherwise you're getting blasted any time the NWS does ANYTHING.
Here's some info from the person that actually took the photo:

> The Picture of the tornado is a picture that I took in 1989 and entered into a Kodak contest. I won second place in the National contest. It has taken its own amazing ride around the world. My youngest daughter, Audra, is in the photo. She is always being called "the tornado girl".
If you have an android phone, wX pulls velocity images directly from the NWS. But spending $10 on RadarScope isn't a bad thing. It's a really good radar app.
