it will cost less than that. more like 5-10 cents per hour. the size of the motor does not matter, it is the amp draw that matters.1hp or 3hp it will take the same amps to power a given user.
typical ac amp draw on a treadmill for an average size male is about 3-5 amps for walking and 4-6 amps running. (I am a treadmill repair tech and take these readings all the time).
so worst case scenario (heavy runner) 6 amps x 120v= 720 watts= .72 kWh
Average Electricity cost USA currently is 13.9cents /kwh
.72 KWh x .139= about 10 cents per hour - again thats worst case scenario.
for a light user walking that would be about 5 cents per hour
Lets take the average and make it 7.5 cents per hour.
say you walk/jog 3 hours per week= works out to about $15.50/year
you can calculate it using your actual electricity cost here https://www.omnicalculator.com/everyday-life/electricity-cost
This seems to fit the sizing. It says 3.75 HP but it is not continous horse power. Peak. Hope to find something similar with a quality model: https://www.amazon.com/Goplus-Treadmill-Electric-Superfit-Programs/dp/B09D814HYX
I bought these. It's way more than necessary, but also the cheapest option I could find. I can't remember if they were a perfect fit or if I had to sand the sides down a bit for them to fit. But they work fine.
There's not really a step-by-step or guide I can give you, but it's just a matter of removing the brake assembly and taking it apart.
First step is to loosen belt tension, if it has a separate tensioning system. Then remove the belt, then the brake assembly itself.
Next, you'll likely remove the mounting plates, then focus on removing the plastic covers. You'll need to unscrew on once side, but then possibly remove the shaft set screws on the opposite side to allow it to slide out.
Once you get the plastic cover off, you'll see where the small plastic carrier slides up and down inside, and how the small cables are connected. You'll just replace them and reassemble, being especially careful when it's open to avoid the springs getting away from you.
Scratch that - here's a video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTGJVEP7qGY
Let me know how you get on! Here's a link to buy the cables: https://www.amazon.com/Internal-Magnetic-104763-001-Octane-Elliptical/dp/B07NBPB2CG
None; 2.25hp, supposedly https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081JMW6FJ
And yes, it's still like new (although admittedly I stopped using it after the snow ended last year, though I did try it recently with no problem and I anticipate heavily reusing it every winter)!
Hey there! I bought this in 2020:
RHYTHM FUN Treadmill Folding... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07S5969LB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
This might be what you're looking for if you don't need inclines or protruding arms or something that is kind of moveable. Although my Rhythm Fun has never failed me, the biggest con is the supposedly 7.45mph speed (or 12km) never felt that fast. It felt more like a 6-6.5 mph.
I still enjoy using the Horizon 7.4! I have a laptop attachment on it and can walk while working (thanks protruding arms!). I did encounter a squeak with it and had a serviceman show up but it was a quick 5-10 min fix with some CLP lubricant sprayed on the bolts connected to the running deck (he does not recommend WD40). He says the squeaking is a common issue with foldable treadmills but its a very minor inconvenience. Other than that, the running experience on it is smooth and feels great! I can still do 7.5-8mph on it with the aforementioned laptop table attached while loading up Zwift on my TV. I can see how a behemoth 325lb treadmill might complicate your situation however lol.
I hope this helped!
I have F80. Sorry not mentioned that. I read that, but the app mentioned is crazy outdated. I found better one with appropriate interface https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.soletreadmills.sole_v2
Same boat. I ended up getting one of these:
Lasko High Velocity... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077BMBR5B?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It’s a very directional fan that fires air from under the console. It works well, but the air comes from under rather than head/chest level. It’s fantastic for my cycling trainer!
I have a floor/pedestal fan too, but the console on the L7 is exactly the same height as the fully extended stand. I’ve considered putting the fan on top of something, but worry it will fall off. I’ve also looked at ceiling-mount and wall-mount fans, but the Lasko seemed like a good compromise.
My last treadmill had an integrated fan (F85), but it was very weak, so I needed another fan for that as well.
Sole F80 owner here (also Peloton bike owner)
F80 has been mechanically/functionally fine but the one thing I hate is that the Sole app is a dumpster fire. That means the only way I get the data from the Sole into my various tracking sites (Garmin/Strava) is using a Garmin FootPod which isn't terribly accurate and does not track treadmill elevation.
It seems like it would be trivial for Sole to get this app working but for years I have been disappointed on their inability or desire to fix something so basic. So now I go around and warn anyone that is considering a Sole treadmill about this.
If you don't believe me, read the many comments for yourself : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.soletreadmills.sole&hl=en_US&gl=US
I have used the Peloton app with my F80 and one problem that you will have is that the Peloton tread can increase speed very quickly while the F80 cannot, that means if the instructor is calling out a 30 second sprint, you have to start increasing the speed well in advance on the F80 to give it time to ramp up, while the Peloton folks apparently can just spin the speed dial and go.
I've already decided when the F80 dies I will be replacing with a Peloton tread since I'm already paying the monthly fee for the bike.
I agree the $3500 price tag is hard to swallow, hoping that comes back down to something in the $2xxx range in the future.
Thank you so much, I'll check these out. but I wanted to note that nothing actually happens when i hit Start (or any other button except for the ones i highlighted in the pictures, which only do a quick triple beep when pressed), the timer does not start, incline does not work, menu doesn't change, no reaction at all. Does that change anything?
if it does turn out to be the motor controller, is this what we are talking about and something I would need to buy? and is the price seem reasonable for this kind of part?
This one is sold on the canadian amazon site but not the usa one for some reason. After currency conversion i think it fits your description. https://www.amazon.ca/CITYSPORTS-Treadmill-Speakers-Portable-Motorized/dp/B086PKQP7C/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=1G2REKLGXIWQ9&keywords=treadmill&qid=1666160972&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI1Ljk4IiwicXNhIjoiNi4zNSIsInFzcCI6IjUuMzcifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=tread%...
Really appreciate the advice - folds fine, I just tensioned too much I think. I thought I lifted it 2-3 inches on both sides to ensure that wouldn't happen...
MOST importantly - do you think I can glue the small 1/4" tear? The belt is on backorder so I can't get one, unless I start looking into knockoff stuff... I googled it and some guy said if small enough you can glue it. This glue appears to be what he indicated for repair:
Thanks so much for your replies. I just ordered new brushes from amazon. Link below. They look to be the right size. Bizarrely, the price for two is the same price as twenty: $7.49. So I picked twenty.
I'll test the brushes one after another to see if they result in any variation in the clicking sound (suggesting that something about the brushes + commutator is the source). Maybe the clicking will be exactly the same, which would suggest some other source. I'll let you know.
I removed the bolts holding the motor together and tried to pull it apart, but unsuccessfully. I may try that again if the commutator + brushes contact seems to be the source.
I haven't ordered a commutator stone yet. I may try that too, but the motor is brand new and when I remove the brushes and look in at the commutator, it's that distinctly bright copper color, so I don't think anything needs cleaning, but maybe a commutator stone does more than just clean...? I may need to look into that.
No complaints with my sole F85 (?) mechanically but their Android app is the biggest flaming POS ever.
All I wanted it to do was transfer my workout to somewhere online - Garmin, Strava, I don't care which one, just off the treadmill so I can log it.
Nope, first release crashed all the time and it assumed all my workouts were in metric so 5 miles were transferred as 5 km, then after a while and update came out and during the configuration process it ended up going to a web page for a domain that expired, now they have seemed to fixed that but I still can't get the most basic functionality to work - export my workout.
The Google Store page is riddled with other people complaining so I know its not just me

Average review : 1.3 stars
That's a good point. I came across another option that I'm considering. The reviews seem positive but I'm not sure on the support. Any thoughts on it would be appreciated. Thank you.
I lost most of the sole of my Skechers to my treadmill. My first and last pair. 😂
They looked like this but were not for food service.
https://www.amazon.com/Skechers-Mens-Cessnock-Shoe-Black/dp/B07FBLM5W9?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&
A non-handle treadmill normally doesn't have an incline coz it's unsafe, and under desk treadmill usually controlled by a remote.
Most people use the under desk treadmill for walking, so it doesn't need any powerful motor or strong speed, if you are not over 200lb then a regular one could match your need.
Here is a recommendation which my friend worked well so far:
I’m considering this one but wondering if it would work with the sloped arms of the treadmill : https://www.amazon.de/VIVO-Universal-Laptop-Laufband-Schreibtisch-Halterung-f%C3%BCr-Laufb%C3%A4nder-Stand-TDML1-schwarz/dp/B082DR952P/ref=asc_df_B082DR952P/?tag=googshopde-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=546609728609&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hv...
Thank you so much!! I think I will go with the foldable one.

Appreciate your help
I just bought a nordictrack from Amazon for $649. My husband just finished setting it up. It looks like it can be a gym quality treadmill. I know it’s a little more than $500, but I thought you’d like to check it out. NordicTrack T Series Treadmills https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0193V3DJ6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_0J2WWJ1QGWEQR2W7W198
Yes I just got mine today and got it delivered. The shipping company for us ArcBest was pretty unprofessional. I called prior to see if they could help move it to my back area (it's really down 2 steps and and maybe about 40-50' to that area, but they refused even after me pleading with them.
They put away the wood pallet jack to drop it off and also refused to use it to help me put it in the garage. Luckily I purchased 2 dollies prior somewhat anticipating potential issues and they did help put it on the dollies and move it to the garage. However, I asked them to take the extra wood pallet afterwards, but also refused.
It was honestly a bit confusing to me. I hope Sole can actually figure out a more professional and helpful freight shipment company. Luckily with the extra dollies me and 2 other people I know were able to push it up out of the garage into the back area and into my home where it will need to be constructed. Definitely recommend you time it perfectly and get some people to help you out. As others have noted, it is heavy!
The Assembly Authority reached out to me to let me know that one of their technicians would be reaching out to me today. I haven't heard from them yet though. Hoping sometime this week I'll hear from them. I got the technician's phone # but haven't heard any response.
It does sound like the Assembly Authority will help you move it (if needed). I might try to assemble it myself if I don't at least hear from them by the end of the week and request a refund.
Since Sole outsources the shipment and construction to other companies it makes the entire shipment process a bit disjointed and really leaves a bad overall experience. Perhaps I'm alone on this and hopefully this is a one time thing. I'm guessing most people won't have the same logistics issues as me. I live in a city, so these kind of things are generally a bit more challenging.
Yeah the lubricant included with Sole, Spirit, and Xterra treadmills is thicker. I don't really know why, I can only guess they want it to still be there if the treadmill isn't used for months/years.
The go-to recommendation is usually something like this - it'll feel a lot more like what I think you're expecting: https://www.amazon.com/Spot-Treadmill-Lubricant-Precision-Application/dp/B0153WN84E/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=spot+on+treadmill+lubricant&qid=1650925180&sprefix=spot+on%2Caps%2C88&sr=8-3
Just bought one of these and it’s pretty good. A pain to put together but bottom lifts up and can move around room if you want to. Nordic track has warranty and it’s no frills with a good price. NordicTrack T Series Treadmills https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0193V3DJ6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_MB8C2KHBRP34C6PP555J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I think anything attached to that treadmill will be wobbly. Commercial treads can sometimes get away with it due to the weight and mass; but a residential unit like that just doesn't have the rigidity.
Your best bet is to look at a separate floor based solution to isolate the laptop from the tread. Example 1 or Example 2
Here's the one I saw - https://smile.amazon.com/Motorized-Folding-Treadmill-Portable-Foldable/dp/B09BMPPGLK/ in the customer Q&A it says:
>Q: What is the max speed?

>A: Dear Customer, Its maximum speed is 8 km/h. It can be set to 0 ~ 8 km/h, the minimum adjustable speed is 0.1 km/h. Any more questions, please contact us via 【[email protected]】, we will reply to you within 24 hours and all products of Lifeplus support 12 months warranty.
I actually bought a similar "walking pad" a while back from Amazon and returned it due to the poor build quality and the fact that you can feel the seam where it folds in the middle while you're walking. But maybe it will work for this use case. Maybe ...
Thanks. I saw that one but then I thought, "Why not buy in bulk if it'll be cheaper?" Then I saw this gigantic $50 jug and am now leaning towards it: https://smile.amazon.com/Silicone-Treadmill-Lubricant-Lubrication-Treadmills/dp/B09GVFZNZR
This is the one I got after seeing a detailed YouTube review and it's great, although it has a noisy startup sound so it can't be activated quietly:
https://smile.amazon.com/Goplus-Treadmill-Electric-Installation-Free-Bluetooth/dp/B081JMW6FJ/
I exclusively keep the arms down, which restrict its max speed to up-to-brisk-walking only—which is fine by me!
I do walk on my treadmill for 105 to 110 minutes at 3.2 mph. I alternate between 9.5% and 15%. I'm 98kg. I have being doing this for more than a year, 4 to 5 times a week.
What helps me most are compression socks and insole. I use Hoka Bondi 7 trainers.
I used to have some knee pain until I started using this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07FJQTN69/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 then it stopped
The Sole F85 seems like it would be a solid choice too. It actually has physical fitness tests built into it. I ordered mine on Monday.
If you get the Honey browser extension and shop through it you can get 12% cashback plus sometimes it pops up with an additional $100 cashback on models.
We bought our F85 straight from the sole website. We ordered just this morning. If you use https://www.joinhoney.com/explore you can get cashback. Plus I think they also have a $100 bonus you can activate on there for some of the sole treadmills.
https://www.joinhoney.com/explore
Make sure to take screenshots of the 12% and $100 bonus if you do buy. Just incase it doesn't get applied email support will manually apply the cashback.
Just get the browser extension for Honey. Then activate the 12% cashback and the $100 bonus will pop up when your looking at any of soles treadmills.
Not entirely, most silicone sprays have a number of other chemicals that will eventually break down chemicals. Even some treadmill lubricants have water content that will shorten the lubricants lifespan due to evaporation.
While it can be hard to get at times, this is the lube that I have consistently found to be long lasting. <a href="https://www.amazon.com/TreadGOO-Silicone-Treadmill-Lubricant-Applicator/dp/B08K4Q6HHY/ref=sr_1_19?crid=23GGLLE570LBW&keywords=treadmill+lubricant&qid=1643720601&sprefix=treadmill+lubri%2Caps%2C105&sr=8-19">Link</a>
They used to have a single use lube that was great, but I am not sure where to buy it.
I bought this and it just says it's 100% silicone so I'd guess about any silicone would be ok.
In the question bar, someone asked if the handle bars are removable and able to use it under the desk. A person said yes that the handles were removable and can be used under the desk.

Wow, well, compared to that, the personal SuperFit Goplus 2 in 1 is really primitive; there is no such tube, so we must manually loosen the belt using an Allen wrench on both rear sides, lift up the belt, and then manually zigzag the oil across the whole width and back by hand (ideally, of course, concentrated more around the approximate areas where our feet land during use). So that way, there would be zero chance of spillage onto the sides since we control exactly where it's placed ourselves. Anyways, sorry that happened to you!
I've only had it for some weeks now but I'm loving this so far: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08FCHQPZS
As per a reviewer's suggestion there, I emptied one of the two bottles of lube with which it came immediately under the belt after I set it up, and it seems to be functioning flawlessly so far.
Warning: this is not ideal for running (at least if activated while folded), which is perfect for my use case.
You bet! The absolute best thing you could do would get a clamp multimeter, remove the motor cover, and perform an amp draw test while you're running on it at 5.0 MPH.
I prefer Klein Tools, here's one for $56
I bought this one with the contrast display for $82 and I really like it
To perform the amp draw test:
1 - unplug the treadmill
2 - remove motor cover
3 - verify it's unplugged completely
4 - clamp the white wire coming from the back of the power inlet that goes to the motor controller, and position the multimeter so you (or your wife) can read it while you're running on the treadmill
5 - plug it in, watch the display and press start - see how high it peaks when engaging the motor
6 - at 2.5 and 5.0 MPH, record peak amp draw with and without you (since you're bigger) running on it
A brand new treadmill should be under 6-12 amps at 5.0 MPH for an entire workout.
A treadmill ready for the belt and deck to be replaced will be peaking at 12-16 amps at 5.0 MPH.
A treadmill with worn out bearings in the motor or rollers, or with high belt tension, will pull 4-6 amps at 5.0 MPH with nobody on it.
Used treadmills are such a gamble, but that also means they can be a great value if they're not all worn out.
Any questions, let me know! As long as you're careful about unplugging it and not pinching/pulling any wires, this is a pretty safe test to perform. Maybe ask the seller if they have any problem with you performing an amp draw test before making the trip - their response could tell you a lot about the condition of the treadmill.
Most of the noise isn't coming from ground impact, it's coming from your contact with the treadmill and the treadmill motor, rollers, and belt.
There's probably not much you can do to the treadmill to quiet it down beyond making sure any rattles and squeaks are stopped. You might be able to pull the plastic motor shroud off and put some sound mat deadener in the area and back side of the plastics. I used THIS stuff on my natural garage heater and it did wonders for the vibration. Probably the only thing I can think off for the treadmill itself. After that you could either sound insulate the garage itself(prefered) or build a box or mini-room around the treadmill w/ 4x8 sheets of plywood, two good fans in push/pull, and a nice TV. That would really help isolate the sound, but would obviously be less ideal and feel like your in a zoo. :-)
I'm using a StarTrac ETR that I picked up used for $500 on Facebook market place awhile back. Other than being a little older, it hasn't needed any maintenance other than lubing the belt from time to time, and random cleaning. It has a 5HP motor does 15% incline and 12.5MPH speed. Speed/Incline changes are fairly responsive. I run sub3 marathons and do intervals and speed/fartlek sessions on it without issue. Trained for the Leadville 100 inclines and no complaints with it on incline training.
I have a large TV mounted on the wall in front of it w/a small sound bar and a small vornado fan attached to the treadmill screen rail. Happy with this setup and I'll use it going forward no matter what tread I have.
Primary complains: It's older, built in fans suck(like all tread fans), it's bulky(no fold), heavy (also doesn't vibrate), and it doesn't do declines (unless you stack books under the rear legs (which i've done). I've used it for a few years now and only paid $500 so honestly hard to complain if your looking for a commercial treadmill on a budget.
I'd love to get something newer without the subscription garbage, but seems like most are going that route. Peleton Tread+ now requires subscription to even function after the recall(can't even do manual mode now) and most others like Bowflex22 and Nordic x32i cripple basic functionality without a subscription. Best commercial grade stuff I can find is TechnoGym or Woodway 4front; and even used they're pricey... I'll probably be using the StarTrac for the foreseeable future.
I have mine plugged into a wireless outlet switch to completely turn the power off to the unit when I'm not using it like the ones in the below link.
You can also get a Bluetooth smart switch that works from your phone

Super nice quality no complaints whatsoever (no smell issues either).
Just getting back to working on this... The plastic feels smooth. Here's what it looks like: https://imgur.com/a/LONdKTk
That gray stuff is some kind of muddy stuff, which is weird. I had thought the plastic film was part of the design but looking around I think it's actually a aftermarket repair:
https://www.amazon.com/Treadmill-Doctor-Fixkit-Number-206288/dp/B006E80S68
I was going to say F this and just buy a new ~$1000 costco model, but given the pandemic, and the fact this is already in my basement, I think I'm actually going to fix it.
What do you think of this:
Replace the belt, see how that is. If it still stutters, then I'll replace the board, again. That's only a ~$170.
Is the worst case scenario is that this doesn't fix it because I actually need a motor too?
Brand is Bliss Brands.
Model Name is Electric Walking Machine (I think? that's what the manual calls it)
Model Number PB001
I do not see a serial number anywhere on this thing or in its manual.

I bought it on Amazon back in 2019 and since then they have kind of changed how it looks in the listing but here is the link to what it looks like now: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JW77DGJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Should still be the same parts I am guessing but yeah I don't have high hopes I can find a replacement part for this odd Under desk treadmill. I have looked online and can't find any Front Roller that looks like mine. None of them even give a description of how long they are so how will I even be able to know if it fits? I appreciate any help though.
It’s a surge protector. About 20 bucks on Amazon.
same here, too much brightness for watching netflix on the ipad. Considering film but yeah, not a whole roll. Maybe those car window tint screens for babies with the suction cups, but you could cut to size and just rest it within the bezel to be able to still make out the numbers/lap info etc.
i’ve been tossing the instruction setup manual over it when watching my ipad for the time being.
baby screen on amazon; https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KL3ALGO/
I have a lot of space (basement gym) so I will not be folding it up. I am actually considering this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089Q79245/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's an off brand but simple. My husband most likely won't use it he said (mountain biker) so it would just be me and my teen daughter. The Peloton and Nordic Track are nice but too pricey for things I don't need.
And thank you!!!
Thank you, I'll be curious what you think. Those tiny treadmills are intriguing, but I've never worked on or seen one. Good luck, and be sure to check the belt/deck isn't dry before use. Lubricating is easy - just apply 0.5oz to a small area where your feet make contact during use, avoiding the last 2-3" on each side. Here's my favorite video on the process I've found, complete with a pet bunny

I didn’t wind up doing it. I just got an under the desk treadmill that can be stored in a corner and then put away under the couch or bed when you’re done. Not too heavy. It only goes 5 mph tops but does the job for now until I get a full size treadmill.

On Amazon there are flat treadmills that hardly take up space (I had one before). They generally go only up to 6mph at fastest buy work very well, are sturdy and compact. I put a link to an example of one below.

Thanks! I was thinking it was the roller though given the earlier post. Is it both the roller and the belt? Maybe I just read your earlier post wrong.
Did a quick look. Is this it?
Hey uh Sex-Watcher , was out on vacation just seeing your post! So I did some research and had found this treadmill
At the time it was for sale for the unbelievable pice of 735 dollars. I went for it and purchased the treadmill. Assembly wasn't too bad, however it helped I had my friend there to help me put it together as the treadmill was a 300 pound beast!
functionally it's a pretty good treadmill, however i don't have a whole lot to compare it to. Build quality seems really good and solid so hopefully it will last me a while.
Hopes that helps, i don' think you can go wrong with anything from AFG.
