They use trigger words and misleading technical mumbo jumbo to make you think that they’re “leagues ahead” of the competition, when what they’re saying actually means basically nothing at all, and are features that are available on basically every VPN and aren’t special in any way.

Don’t get me wrong, NordVPN is a good VPN, but with a company of that size that creates advertisements such as that, it’s not unlikely that they could screw you over. They’re also just ludicrously overpriced unless you get a discount, and even then it’s still rather expensive.

It’s not a scam, but they manipulate their viewers intelligence into thinking this is some app used by government officials to protect themselves, and how if you want to be safe you HAVE to use this. Which isn’t the case at all, it’s a complete lie to drive sales on people who most likely don’t need it.

NordVPN is just a VPN. It's unobtrusive and not terrible, but I'll be damned if I remember why I bought it in the first place. Can't use it to get around any streaming service restrictions or whatnot.

If you trust your VPN provider more than your ISP it isn't useless. Now your VPN provider has your history instead of your ISP. But ISPs in America at least are basically evil and part of the state surveillance apparatus. You probably should trust some Swiss VPN provider more.

There are legit VPN providers like Mullvad who claim even they can't see your data, provide source code to prove it, and undergo audits to prove that source code is actually running on their servers. They try to involve as little trust as possible. But your Nord and Express these guys aren't even providing source code, so to trust them is laughable.

Random comment here. I'd add Windscribe to your recommended VPN's, Mullvad is bad at streaming and doesn't bypass many firewalls, and is much more known for its torrenting, though Windscribe supposedly works better a decent amount of time in US locations. Windscribe = US Mullvad
