Fun is subjective. I've actually enjoyed playing Big Priest. There are at least 3 types of card game players (and Magic the Gathering goes by this philosophy). There are Johnny's, Timmy's, and Spikes. Everyone comes to the game with different interests and different tastes. With that being said, I'm ok with Big Priest getting banned or nerfed. It is not fun to play against and I could live without playing the deck. I have enjoyed playing the deck, but it is not my favorite deck of all time. My favorite deck of all time is probably classic Reno Priest back after MSG came out and I was playing it in Standard. I also liked classic C'Thun Warrior back in the day.

If you download Arcane tracker it has an option in the settings to link your track-o-bot account. To be able to have your games be tracked for VS you need to go to the link in this post and sign up for track-o-bot data collection. Probably one of the best things you can do is start using a deck tracker to record your games (if possible), since that gives you the ability to look back at games you've played and see whether there's anything you could have done differently. Here are the links to each platform's programs:

Otherwise, decks like Odd Paladin and Murloc Shaman are probably your best bets for getting to Legend quickly.

If you're looking for the minimum viable amount of Pirates, the answer is two, since:

• We will assume that the scenario where you run only Patches and no other Pirates will never happen (since we can assume that people will always run at least one Pirate to use Patches' effect).
• If you run Patches and one other Pirate (say a Deckhand), you're slightly less likely to draw the Deckhand before Patches as you are to draw Patches before the Deckhand.
• If you run Patches and two other Pirates (again, say a Deckhand), you're slightly more likely to draw at least one Deckhand before Patches than you are to draw Patches before at least one Deckhand.
• While running more than two Pirates will increase your chances of summoning Patches from your deck, any incremental increase past two Pirates will result in a positive (albeit diminishing) marginal percentage gain.

For a more numerical analysis, though, you can check out this Desmos graph I've whipped up. For reference:

• The d-axis (horizontal axis) measures the number of draws you make (in other words, the game starts at d=4 for P1, and d=5 for P2).
• The P-axis (vertical axis) measures the probability of drawing a Pirate given particular values of S, s and p, which I'll explain in a moment.
• S is the total number of Pirates run within the deck that are not Patches, while s is the total number of those Pirates that you've drawn within the current sample.
• p is a binary variable, which toggles whether Patches is drawn or not (if this is set to 1, assume that a Pirate is only drawn after you draw Patches).

There are 37 banned cards in the Vintage format in total.

Most if not all of them are utterly ridiculous/meme cards like Chaos Orb and Shahrazad though, so yeah, he does have a point as no real "legit" cards are banned from Vintage, only troll ones.
