I have my Fitbit app (for scales) syncing with Google fit, and Healthmate syncing with Google fit.
I use FitToFit to sync Fitbit and Google fit: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fitapp.fittofit
here is an Amazon link for the 36mm
https://www.amazon.com/Compatible-Spectre-Shield-Anti-Bubble-Anti-Scratch/dp/B0721V3M7S
and the activite/steel which is the one I used for the smaller steel hr. https://www.amazon.com/Spectre-Shield-Anti-Bubble-Anti-Scratch-Replacement/dp/B01N469SW1
I would be very interested if somebody has a phone that allows HCI (snoop) logging in the debugging settings to make a log for me. One of normal usage and one with the firmware update.
This might help modifying the firmware.
EDIT: And optimally a network log too (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.taosoftware.android.packetcapture) before starting the update. I'll try to do this too.
EDIT2: For me the update is not yet available, I managed to get HCI logs but TCP logs won't be of much use as the most interresting transmissions are https.
EDIT3: So i poked a little bit and it seems that the "Check for updates" button for the watch does nothing. I can't be sure but I tried mitmproxy and changing the requests in the apk to http so I can record everything with tPacketCapture. If this is true and I didn't overlook something the watch update will require a Health Mate update. Also if their http header is correct they seem to host their static content on a Beaglebone Black.
I am not sure what it is that you are asking. Withings allows you to export data, and you can easily program IFTTT (if this than that) and have it be emailed to you, as an example
I got my leather ones from Barton, via Amazon.
I highly recommend them :)
I 've heard of an Android app that sends Whatsapp, Facebook and Gmail notifications to the Steel HR using calendar event : Winotify
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.hopto.baku.winotify2
Seems to be way simpler than using tasker or macrodroid. In the comments, the dev says he is working on adding support for more apps.
As I have not received my watch yet, I haven't tested it, but be sure that I will...
At the moment the only reliable way to transfer data is Health Sync. But it is not free and you will need a small subscription, because Withings. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.appyhapps.healthsync
In the future it seems that their app will support Health Connect service. I have seen it in older version of Health Mate. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.healthdata
Maybe this? It’s like the sport loop you can get with Apple Watch but works with normal watches (I have one used on my scanwatch)
I would really suggest to get one. But where are you located? Amazon Germany has them: BROTECT Full-Cover Schutzfolie kompatibel mit Withings Steel HR Sport (40 mm) (2 Stück) - Full-Screen Displayschutz-Folie, 3D Curved, Kristall-Klar https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07KQDWK1D/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_4JCRVV1TJZC0BEJKVD92?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I don’t use a screen protector on my ScanWatch and never used one on my Apple Watch (2017-2022, never had any scratches).
My preferred watch band is this black silicon band. It’s feels really soft, the holes are narrow so the band can be adjusted in fine steps and my most important feature: You can stick the end of the band below the watch band - so there is no loose end. And finally it only costs 7€.
This is the screen protector I bought for my Steel HR Sport. I know the Sport's watch face is 34 mm but buy the 33 mm for this particular model, it has the better fit.
I ordered last week from Amazon UK to ship to Canada. ECG works. No VPN or other shenanigans. I did end up getting charged 50 bucks for brokerage.
I have ordered the following strap. Will let you know how it goes.
Barton Quick Release - Top Grain Leather Watch Band Strap - Choice of Width - 16mm, 18mm, 19mm, 20mm, 21mm 22mm, 23mm or 24mm https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07XVQTHG4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_4RHSYBDBAB7T25BBWQ4Q?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks for the valuable input to everyone. I am still within the 30-day-return-window so I'll try to contact them.
uk amazon. I logged in with my regular us amazon account, and my regular credit card attached to it, and I received it in under a week. More than that, I bought it from "used good as new" for a discount, for bent packaging.
Everything works out of the box. The charger is a standard usb A end without a block so plugs in directly into any blocks you may have around. The app hooks up to it just fine, and asks which units you prefer things in. So now I had it for a week, and other than the expected fact that they waaaaay overpromised on battery time, I really like it.
I just got my Scanwatch this Monday and realized I had the same problem. Everything except workouts sync fine to Google Fit. I also tried the possible fixes without any luck. But then I found an app, that I had previously used for syncing from my Samsung watch to Google Fit. Health Sync. With this I can sync the workouts and let Health Mate sync the rest on its own. I don't know if Health Sync is available on IOS though.
I'm leary of that because what if I have issues with the deviceq? I've seen on amazon listings for other Withings devices that if it wasn't purchased from Amazon or Withings, they won't support it.
"Withings products on Amazon must be “ships from and sold by” Amazon or Withings to be eligible for warranty/replacement by Withings"
Considered purchasing from Amazon UK and shipping here too, but am holding out a little longer.
Link is here for those interested. WOCCI 20mm Nubuck Leather Watch Strap with Silver Stainless Steel Buckle, Replacement Band (Black): Amazon.co.uk: Watches
I bought a canvas band from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071GMFFGB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_P.FqCbXYYJKH2
It's my current favorite, mostly because of how well it breathes. I also bought a leather one, but I don't wear it more than a day or two because it also traps moisture like the silicone one did and irritates my wrist and gets 'stuck'.
I've had half decent success syncing my garmin to Google fit and Google fit to withings. The steps are not really that accurate and the run details often don't sync 100%. For example, if I run a half marathon with garmin. Google fit might see that as 12.9 miles. Then withings sees it as 13 min running but doesn't have the distance.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.appyhapps.healthsync
It's pretty frustrating that these apps all don't get along despite the countless user requests.
I have it mostly working. I sync my body cardio scale and get body metrics using this code. https://github.com/jaroslawhartman/withings-garmin-v2
I can't have myfitnesspal.com connected to withings or it overwrites with just weight and bmi.
Then I sync garmin to Google fit. Then using the following app I sync my steps and activities from Google fit to withings. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.appyhapps.healthsync
The data that comes over is good enough but it's weird. I could have 20k steps on garmin. Google fit will count it as 19k and withings might give me 18k.
It would be nice if there were just an official integration so the data would be accurate. However, the above combination is the best I can do.
With this application you can have me notify you of the time on the clock at the times of the day you tell it.
For me it is very complete. I put the link of the Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.difer.weather&gl=ES
I'm not allergic to Nickel or Cobalt, but I did find the silicone band irradiating. I replaced the silicone band with a canvas NATO band and haven't had any more issues. If the case itself is causing irritation, a NATO style band could also help reduce contact of the watch and the t op of your wrist. Look at the last picture on this Amazon listing for an example of how it separates the watch case from the wrist. It may be enough, may not.
I came across this nifty little app that listens to GMail, FB messenger and Whatsapp for notifications. What it does is simulate calender events to display on your Steel HR.
It works with the latest fw update.

Watches were all $5, knives were between $1 and $10. It was awesome. They had nicer stuff marked up, but it seems the look of the activité lead them to believe it was just a regular watch.
I bought two leathermans for a dollar each, along with a bunch of other knives. I also got this Nixon watch for $5.
May also want to check out the Barton bands on Amazon. Have been getting very good reviews including some for the Withings. You'll want the 18mm. Barton Link
I didn't actually realise that location had to be on. I guess that's why my battery had been draining like crazy for the past four months... which happens to be the amount of time I've had my Activite. D'oh.
As to solutions: If you wanted to you could only switch on location once a day to sync the day's data, then switch it off for the remainder of the day. A bit more effort, I know. If you're nifty with these things, maybe you could build an IFTTT recipe to switch on location at a certain time each day and switch it off again half an hour later or so.
I can still get by with one full charge a day, but if you can't I understand that it's a problem :/
