I'm considering a manual slicer like this, since my older son will be living with us again, and he loves jerky (as do hub and I). He claims simple homemade jerky is tons tastier than any store bought, and I agree! But jerky production won't start until this heat wave is over haha!!!
I've been taking daily D3, magnesium glycinate and of course sodium since I started keto. I used to supplement potassium even though I'm on an ACE inhibitor, because you know, "it won't happen to me!" but then I gave myself hyperkalemia that way so now I don't take any potassium supplement. Even after losing 116lbs my blood pressure still requires 20mg Enalapril daily to stay the same, as it has since I was 27 yrs old.
Recently I added in calcium and iron because I notice in Cronometer that those are sorely lacking in my diet (or at least in the nutritional data from the listings I'm using). I'm aging, and I don't want my bones to turn to dust while they're still inside my body so I figured I'll take calcium and iron. I take the iron pill on an empty stomach in the morning. So far it's not really constipating me at all as I've read might happen. I made calcium capsules out of this calcium, they're about 1.4 grams per capsule and I take that right before my meal with my collagen. I've been taking 2 scoops of hydrolyzed collagen peptides before my meal since last February because I heard it helps with "loose" or stretched skin and I have a bunch of that.
And that's it as far as supplements go. Oh, I do take fish oil capsules but only because they were for my cats and my cats hated that brand so I got them a krill oil that they love, and now I take the fish oil capsules just to get rid of them. I will probably continue those after this bottle, I don't know.
My only question is: Why does aging suck so bad??
Hey there. I like pumpkin seeds for salty crunch. Bonus - they are loaded with nutrients (protein, healthy fats, fiber, zinc, selenium, magnesium). I have 2T per day which doesn't break the carb bank.
Sea weed works when I want something salty.
Something like this. Jayone Roasted and Lightly Salted Seaweed, 0.17 Ounce (Pack of 12) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0734XNHYD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_h6UXFb26M0BPR?psc=1
You can probably find them in a local Asian market.
Good morning, friends. I've been keeping it low key. I had plans for today, but they changed, and I am going to enjoy this long weekend. Two things I'm excited about, my new shoes in mustard, and I think this bag in wildwood will go well with them. I know I will wear both for our anniversary date in a few weeks.
I also just placed a netrition order to try some things I have not: Smartcakes, Pork King pork rinds, Lily's caramels, three kinds of jam, Sola hamburger buns, Sola maple chocolate pecan granola, palm pasta, etc.
Things are going very well with the chickens, we're up to 18-24 eggs per week. I need to kick up my egg consumption. I ended up boiling 12 last night and we have at least 18 left. My DH is about to cold smoke home cured bacon (using ice, our smoker, and it's 80 degrees out) to go with them.
Remembering those that lost their lives on this day, 19 years ago. It seems like it happened yesterday to me.
Be kind to yourself. ♥
Hey, Redditors!
I just wanted to share an interesting nutrition app with you.
It helps analyze any recipe and shows nutritional facts (calories, sugar, carbs...per serving) of it.
Hope it helps you eat healthier!

It’s Great Lakes pure unflavored kosher beef. I got mine at my local Sprouts store but amazon has it here.
The short days and rainy/foggy weather is getting to me this week. DS will be here Sunday, on the solstice, so there's two things to look forward to. Made a big batch of spicy creamy chicken curry to have on cauli rice. Love the Kitchens of India packets for Indian curry and butter chicken. Each serving has 3 net carbs with 4 servings per packet. I see these at my grocery store in the international foods area if you want to buy just 1. Indian cooks will probably gag, but I really like the curry packet mixed with cream cheese. Amazon used to have a great deal on the 6-pack but prices have gone up! Word must be getting around. :)
Well in that case...are you a fan of Quest or Atkins bars? It’s easy quick protein in a manageable sized bar. So manageable, I usually have more than one (damn you, Cookies and Cream, and especially you, Peanut Butter Granola!!). Both of those are actually Atkins products, and (IMO) insanely good. I think I’ve heard that some people have digestive issues with Atkins bars, or it knocks them out of ketosis I forget (might be the fiber they use), but it’s just a thought. I hit up Sam’s Club for the granola bars in boxes of 16 for 20 bucks (1.25 per). They even deliver (albeit slowly), which is an added bonus these days. They carry the muscle milk too but there’s an added markup on the delivery option for those, so I find the same 12 packs on Amazon for Sam’s in store price, and they arrive in two days.
