Update: I gave my computer a scan with my antivirus (360 Total Security), and it said "New" command in the right-click menu has been deleted
. I just clicked on the resolve button and it seems to have restored it for me.
I have no idea how it could possibly could have been deleted (if anyone knows, please comment) but it seems to be fixed now.
360 Total Security. Leggero, efficace e gratuito. Ha persino funzioni che ti aiutano a mantenere i tempi di avvio ragionevoli, ti pulisce l'hard disk da file non necessari ed ha una interfaccia molto semplice ed intuitiva. Lo consiglio a tutti.
This is a great site for comparing modern av-software. I used to run Avira, but it is pretty resource hungry so I decided to try out 360 Total Security like the other guy mentioned. So far I like it quite a bit for the following reasons:
Great post. I do more or less the same thing with less tools.
360 Total Security does disk cleanup, and it also has some other optimization options (e.g. registry cleanup). Just don't push optimize button, without knowing what's going to be deleted or disabled. You can uncheck whatever you don't want to optimize. I also found that 360 Total Security runs pretty light compared to other AV software. It's less noticeable on newer machines running Windows 10, but if you're running Win7 on an older machine, you'll notice the difference.
You want to go into Settings > Updates & Security > check for updates to get your machine completely up-to-date.
Then I would recommend disabling Windows Defender and replacing it with 3rd party AV software. This is an April 2016 report on the state of AV options. I chose Avira because it is both highly rated and free. However, I would recommend Qihoo 360 to you - it is free, more built in features, and better detection rate. I haven't switched to it because I'm a bit lazy.
Go through Settings > Personalization, System, Update & Security, Accounts, Network, ... Ok just every single part of Settings from the start menu. Click through it all in order to toggle things on and off, personalize the os a bit, and become familiar with your options. There is a ton of stuff in there, so just google anything that does something which isn't obvious.
Right click start > Control Panel > Power Options > select the high performance one IMO
These allow you to change what shows up in All Apps:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
&
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
You can drag and drop tiles around the start menu, right click to resize, right click programs > pin to start menu to make new tiles
You can drag and drop things in the notification area at the bottom right to hide/show them with the ^ arrow
Right click taskbar > Cortana > Show Cortana icon to get rid of the huge search box - you can just click the start menu/cortana or hit the Windows key and start typing for the same functionality
You can add a Quick lauch toolbar to the taskbar by right clicking it > toolbars - then you can just drag programs to that toolbar instead of having to pin them to the taskbar
There are plenty more things to do but thats a start. Oh and grab MusicBee 3.0 for the best Windows music player.
Free, no ads, easy on resources, automatic Silent Mode when gaming. Has it's own engine, but also includes the Avira and Bitdefender databases as options! It also has a Sandbox mode to run suspicious files, if you are into that sort of thing.
Great but little-known AV. Been using it for years.
There's table of what they collect and for what here: https://www.360totalsecurity.com/en/privacy/
Anyway, "think twice" if you plan to buy this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/360.com#Controversies
I have used Windows Defender, Net protector, McAfee, 360TotalSecurity, Avast. I personally feel 360TotalSecurity speeds up your system and protects it very nicely. Scans are carried out at optimum speeds and there are lot of exciting features like tidy desktop and lively themes as well.
one of the most reliable i found out is 360TotalSecurity. Have been using for years now my system works cool. Great support and service aswell.

I have absolutely no idea how well it works in practice, but the Windows Update replacement is the sole reason I use any antivirus in an expendable Windows virtual machine. Despite the thing has ads and an acheivement system. It's that dramatically faster than using stock Windows Update.
It will come back. Avast sucks. From free antiviruses I'd get 360 Essential. It's pretty light and can be powerful. Don't get the all-in-one version tho, because it's useless.
i've used 360 security and avast (free) both are pretty good . 360 security antivirus also has bitdefender and avira antivrus engines and much more stuff. check it out ---> https://www.360totalsecurity.com/en/download-free-antivirus/
avast was and is always awesome ....(so no questions about that) i have also heard that malwarebytes is also very good (never used it)
360 Total Security seems pretty decent. I'm using it for like 100 days now and it did it's job pretty well, on Windows as on Android.
Here's a feature list, have a look at it if you're interested.
