You might try AntennaPod. It's free (and open source!), so there's no financial risk anyway. I know there is some functionality with how things get added to the queue - I don't know if it works like BeyondPod's smartplay though.
> he feature I'm seeking is a way of deleting specific podcasts episodes from download queue.
the open source AntennaPod allows you to do this, you can mark anything in your download queue as listened to
AntennaPod has this feature per podcast, it allows you to include/exclude episodes in auto downloads based on single or multiple word queries. This is how it looks in the UI. By the way, AntennaPod is open source!
I use AntennaPod from the f-droid market (I think you can get it on play store as well). You can add podcasts from the iTunes store with it. Its worked very well for me.
Sorry I don't have any specific podcast recommendations for you but maybe that app will help you add the ones you have already seen.
Antennapod is the podcatcher I prefer. It is free (MIT license) and open source and is distributed via google play and the fdroid repository. When I switched phones, the OPML export and import feature saved me from reentering all my podcasts. I find it to run very stable and lean.
Wow, I'm very impressed by the app you made, it is very well made and well done for choosing to open source it. Would you ever consider creating an API so that people at AntennaPod and newsbeuter for example could implement a sync service with feedbunch?
I'll have to try those. If you follow podcasts try antennapod. Only need mouse for setup.
The F-droid store works too. However, lots of the apps need a keyboard and mouse. I find most material design apps work with the remote. The right menu is usually what doesn't work.
Edit: something has changed in antennapod. Not as remote friendly. Podcast Addict works well. Keyboard to setup. Long press episode to play. Selected podcast not color highlighted but text title will scroll when highlighted
I use AntennaPod for Android. You can add podcast feeds from iTunes, from gpodder.net, or just anything with an RSS feed. Also, it's free and open software, so that's a nice bonus.
