I cannot recommend pocketcasts enough, the best podcast app by a long shot, it will cost you $4, but totally worth it if you listen to podcasts on a regular basis
I guess they took it down, but I uploaded it for you.
If you come across any other missing episodes, let me know and I'll upload it. I've got them all.
Saw that it's on a platform called https://tunein.com/
Subscribers have to pay 9.99/mo, it's also likely content providers must pay to be on the platform? Business decision to cut costs? Not a large listernship? Who knows, not seeing anything pop up in the news about it.
>I'm not sure where DJ Shadow got the sample from however..

EDIT: (the sample is all the way at the end, but it's worth listening through the whole track to hear it in its original context)
whosampled.com is an awesome resource. Has that wikipedia/tvtropes/reddit effect where you look at the clock a few links later and realize it's been over an hour.
For example, looking at DJ Shadow's other samples used in Stem/Long Stem/Transmission 2 brought me to this: http://www.whosampled.com/sample/204291/Zdzis%C5%82awa-So%C5%9Bnicka-Bez-Ciebie-Jesie%C5%84-Giorgio-Moroder-Tears/
Antennapod is the podcatcher I prefer. It is free (MIT license) and open source and is distributed via google play and the fdroid repository. When I switched phones, the OPML export and import feature saved me from reentering all my podcasts. I find it to run very stable and lean.
You can download the official app where you can listen to all the episodes, however it is not free, it costs $2.99: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.prx.talbot
You can also listen on the website: https://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives
And finally, you can find a lot of old episodes on YouTube.

episode 492
Also, a recent book was written by about it by Dr. Gilmer

I can't find anything about Charles Johnson that doesn't say the name was just a pseudonym for a writer of pirate fiction from the 1700s. Here's a fine example of what I'm talking about.
~~By connecting Google Drive to your IFTTT account and this recipe, you can create an auto-archive of each episode as it's posted.~~
Props to /u/scm83x for the heads up re: Drive's 30mb limit!
The link above will automatically download the most current episode.
I don't have any other suggestions, but someone from this Reddit made an alternative app with all the episodes. If you want to try it out, here's the link!
Really briefly there are some tips for pitching that are pretty universal across different radio shows.
You want to be able to sum up your story in 1 to 3 sentences. You want to make sure it's a story and not an anecdote by answering the question "So what?" as in, who cares and why? TAL is all about interesting characters, so you definitely want to make sure you have at least one of those and mention it in your pitch... hope that helps, here's a really good book about making radio that I would recommend as well.
If you use Android, you can use my app Podcast Player for This American Life at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.utils4u.podcastplayertal It has all episodes and you can also download them for offline listening. It is much more stable than the official app.
Hi,
If you are using Android, you can try my app at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.utils4u.talpodcast
It doesn't have the feature to skip act (yet), but it is a good alternative for the official app. After a long time suffering that unstable app, I have decided to write my own app, and i would like to share it with everyone.
I planned to upgrade the app with new features and the ability to jump between acts is already in my list. If you can try and give me opinion about the app, i am very appreciated.
