So Yahoo shuts down a widely-respected and beloved service with over 4 million users, in order to get eight new employees, who may or may not be thrilled to work for Yahoo.
I can see sense in attempting to roll the userbase into the Yahoo family, but I can't understand why they'd shutter it to hire a handful of devs who may just jump ship in the very near future anyway.
I use a web-based todo system. Used to be Remember the Milk but it is now Astrid.
I have looked at Trello and may use it for a future project but the only thing I can see that it adds atm is the middle 'Doing' column over regular todo lists. I already do that by setting the task I'm working on to the highest priority so it is at the top of the list.
The two killer features I would like from any of these apps though are hierarchical tasks and allowing (and showing) tasks to be reliant on others being complete. Anyone know of a system that can handle that other than a full-blown MS Project style app for Gantt charts?
Get a free account at astrid.com and install the chrome extension. (Bias: I work there.)
Ask one of your friends to sign up for an account, and then "share" your most important tasks with your friend through the interface. Your friend will be able to post comments on your tasks like "Have you done this yet?"
My favorite is http://www.any.do/ but it might be a little simple for your needs. Astrid http://astrid.com/ Is Just as good. And shows/times etc for each meeting.
2Do http://www.2doapp.com/ Is robust, and still really easy to use.
I've heard lots of people here report that whatever it is they're focusing on when they're Adderall kicks is, they can keep doing for hours. I've tried it myself and found it to be mostly true. I'm also pretty sure that it's possible to split Adderall XR by opening the capsule and taking half of the little pellets (I've heard of people doing this when they're titrating the dose up or down.) Maybe you could try spreading your dosage out a little more instead of just increasing it – it might not work as a long-term solution, but it might improve things until you can see a specialist. Also, foods that are acidic (especially citrus fruits/juices) prevent Adderall from being absorbed. If you drink orange juice, try having it before bed instead of in the morning.
The rest of your problems are coming from your environment, which means you need to make some changes. Uninstall your video games. Put blocking extensions on your web browsers (there's Nanny for Chrome and Leechblock for Firefox) to limit your access to distracting websites (including this one.) Be ruthless in getting rid of distractions – always err on the side of getting rid of things rather than keeping them. I don't know if this is a problem for you, but I have trouble with remembering things and with estimating how much time I have – I use Astrid to help with the first one, and Google Calendar for the second. Both of them have browser extensions for Chrome that remind you of things you're supposed to be doing with popups.
