BetterZip includes a free Quick Look plugin. Quick Look being the feature where you select one or more files and then hit the Space key, to get a preview of the content.
Adam from Backblaze here. We've seen that some of the built in unzip utilities on Mac and Windows can get kinda wonky with large zip files or really long path or filenames within the zip, so we often recommend trying a third party unzip utility.
For the Mac, my personal preference is BetterZip 4. Their free trial should suffice to unzip.
If you continue to have trouble, feel free to PM me, or shoot our support team an email at helpme at backblaze dot com, and we can dig in further for you.
Then you either didn’t look hard enough, or somehow missed Pacifist.
What about BetterZip, surely you must’ve come across that, no? I’m not on my computer right now to confirm and while there’s a chance it might not have as many features like customizable presets and what not, it does everything that a file archiver needs to do and damn near anything you could possibly want it to in a more traditional GUI and most importantly is free (FOSS) called Keka. The AppStore version is paid as it includes a donation so go to their website for the download.
Also (and lastly), there’s this super slick and time-saving plugin for Quick Look. It’s made by the makers of BetterZip but is free and you should def check it out.
The quick look plugin for better zip is free. There is nothing open source I’ve found that does the same thing. You can use just that plugin for quick look functionality.
I’m sure you’ve found it if you made it this far but it’s here. No need for BetterZip. It’s its own thing.
Depending how much control you need maybe a Quicklook plugin works? Plus it's pretty quick - https://macitbetter.com/BetterZip-Quick-Look-Generator/
BetterZip is paid like you said, but their plugin is free
Otherwise I really like the Mac approach of unzipping without showing you contents and I tried to find a Windows equivalent and the only one was BandiZip, which also has a Mac version https://en.bandisoft.com/bandizip.mac/ - haven't used it but the Windows one is great and replaced 7-Zip for me
Alright, I recommend you download a new 11.3.1 ipsw:
Download betterzip:
Download the buildmanifest I provided.
Change the 11.3.1 ipsw extension to zip. Open it in betterzip. Delete the buildmanifest in there. Rename the buildmanifest I gave you to BuildManifest.plist and place it inside the zip file. Rename .zip to .ipsw and then use that in futurerestore.
