Rclone is really good, built for cloud, but can sync to a local folder.
A more graphical solution would be Create Synchronicity which has never failed me.
Or, you could use Rsync / Robocopy or other CLI alternative.
This is exactly what I do, I use create synchronicity to sync my files and folders to a USB drive behind my PC. You can create a schedule to run it once a week or everyday.
Create Synchronicity, a simple and fast utility for backup and synchronization.
Obviously everyone has different needs for backup. My config: i have all my data on a fast external 2TB drive. I bought 2 more cheap 2TB drives for backup. Once in a while, i synchronize them quickly and painlessly to the main drive using this little software. I keep one in another room and the other in a remote location, and switch them occasionally. Create Synchronicity is very simple to use and the programmer is a great guy who responds quickly to bug reports and suggestions for new features.
I use Syncronicity. Create Synchronicity - Backup and synchronization - Help (sourceforge.net)
It is free. Doesn't monitor real time, so I use a Powershell script on a timer.
for me i use Create Synchronicity its small & portable i run it on the clients i have backups run on various files and such to a main backup fold a then thats backup to the nas
http://synchronicity.sourceforge.net/
so for me i use the nas like a big usb drive
I personally use Create Synchronicity (Windows only I believe), I set it so that it only picks session files within the folder I save each project (excluding wav files and everything else). It then copies those to a cloud service folder. It does that once everyday.
I also like Synchthing (cross-platform), it synchronizes files between two or more computers in real time. Ideal for those who for whatever reason don't trust cloud services.
Both are open source.
In this video from PureMix, Andrew Scheps (later joined by Vance Powell, Steve Genewick, Alan Meyerson and Chris Shaw, all top notch engineers) towards the last 20 minutes of the video or so, start geeking out about their backup practices and what each uses. The whole video is a great watch though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUPZeIiOR1k
I seem to be unaware of how to set it up to even connect with mediafire's cloud storage. I have tried reading their FAQ guide but it sadly didn't cover what I am troubleshooting for link
Great List!
Another one I use on Win computers is 'Create Synchronicity'
http://synchronicity.sourceforge.net/
Opensource, very light on resources/download. Works well and I have used it with USB removable media even Network drives. scheduling built in and if you set it up it will even email you when a backup executes & completes!
Unfortunately the Linux version is beta.
CreateSyncronicity is the best file by file backup program I have found:
I use it on desktop and laptop to backup back to NAS everyday.
Non obtrusive.
When you DO get an external HDD, if you're on Windows use this tool.. It works great at keeping my backup library synchronized with my local library. Plus it's open source! http://synchronicity.sourceforge.net/
I just use a program called Create Synchronicity
http://synchronicity.sourceforge.net/
It's simple to set up and is similar to rsync and other programs. It just generates a list of the source/destination and copies the differences to your external hard drive. Nothing fancy. I think you can schedule backups too but I just run it after I finish editing photos.
