So, the term "infill" refers to the plastic on the inside of the print. When you slice your model, there will be an option to change the infill percentage. for a print like this, 20% infill would be pretty standard.
What slicing tool are you using? If you're a beginner, I would highly recommend using Cura. Someone on this sub turned me onto it, and I love it. It is extremely easy to use, much easier than Slic3r IMO.
I still use Slic3r by default - but have had the odd slice fail (or just not make sense). In these instances, I fall back to Cura (its free!) which is great - the UI is really nice and lets you review the layers in a view mode.
If anyone is interested, Slic3r would go crazy with this and just try and build the rings with tiny dots instead of full sweeping movements. Cura had no problems.
note: I have a different printer to you and no experience with your specific model.
Compiling it from source will be somewhat tricky, because you will also need to setup the correct dependencies.
I've looked a bit in our archive, and you can still download it from http://software.ultimaker.com/cura/Ultimaker_Cura-15.04.06-Darwin.dmg
You're using Slic3r, right? Do you have "Extra perimeters if needed" enabled? If you do, you may have to increase the infill or bump up the minimum perimeters. (I'm using 30% honeycomb infill on all my prints) If that doesn't help either I'd recommend giving Cura a try. It lacks many of the features that Slic3r has but it has a much better way of dealing with fewer perimeters and low infill percentage. Sadly it does not have honeycomb infill.
thanks, i just saw my first mention of Cura earlier today. I used Slic3r for these and have KISSlicer downloaded but haven't done anything with it. I'll head over to http://software.ultimaker.com/ and see how cura goes.
