That looks like an issue with Wine. Foobar2000 doesn't run natively on Linux.
I still don't understand why it's so popular, when there are alternatives that run natively for Linux.
Have you tried DeaDBeeF?
Indeed, GitHub and in general the FOSS community are awesome! And above all, there is a factor of encouragement - the more software I see emerging almost every single day (as opposed to say 15 years ago), the more willing I am to do smth on my own... ))
My latest two best finds are DeadBeef (simple, much less memory hungry and customisable) and FSearch (very powerful and productive), the last one being especially irreplaceable with today's huge storage volumes... I myself am working on a free post-install tool for Pop OS that I hope to publish soon at Github as well, fingers crossed.
Good luck to you too! Take care... in this crazy world!
Reports of success/failure and contributions are welcome! I only tested with MZ-R90 but other devices from that era should work similarly (MZ-R37, MZ-R55, MZ-R70, MZ-R900, MZ-R700, MZ-R701, MZ-R500).
Also I only tested on Foobar2000/Windows, would love to hear from DeadBeef users on Linux and Mac.

Tastes are different, of course! I'm not gonna underestimate what you define as 'must-have'. Just my 2¢ maybe...
I've been using Pop!_OS for more than a year now, tried ArcMenu, and two other extensions from your list, but deleted them after the release of Cosmic, the improvements the Pop!_OS team has put in during the last year, and diving deep into Linux. Frankly, I don't use any extensions mainly because... I'm a minimalist and don't like stuffing my system with tons of eye-candy bloatware (with all the due respect to developers, who try hard to satisfy our insatiable needs) to make it yet another Windows. After all, that was the main reason I said goodbye to my past. Pop!_OS + Gnome are sleek and have almost everything I need. I don't even have htops
, neofeetch
, etc. - you name the usual suspects...
Plus, since moving to Linux, I've discovered that the more I use something, the more I get used to it, despite initial dissatisfaction with the default settings. I like the idea with Super
key, for example - what a bliss to have access to all apps, settings, key bindings, folders, commands, etc. under my pinky finger! So, I hardly ever open the Applications menu, nor has I ever needed ArcMenu since. For system stats, I use built-in Linux commands like sensors
, nvidia-smi
, etc.
The only external apps I highly recommend from top of my head are styli.sh, the wallpaper changer, which I've added to `crontab` and now enjoy a plethora of my favourite wallpapers from a local directory; FSearch, which is super-fast and very similar to Everything Search; and DeadBeef for its very minimal memory footprint and configurability.
Good luck with Pop!_OS!
I do not use this media player, however it has a plugin providing MPRISv2 support: https://deadbeef.sourceforge.io/plugins.html. And then just search for MPRIS widget, like https://github.com/streetturtle/awesome-wm-widgets/tree/master/mpris-widget
DeaDBeeF isn't super well known, but it has a macOS client and can natively scrobble and can do local library management. It's rather bare bones, but I tend to use it for scrobbling radio streams.
And I just opened Silicio again and it has support for Vox as a source. My guess as a workaround for Vox Premium being the only way to get scrobbling support through the app.
There is also DeaDBeeF.
DeaDBeeF is a modular audio player for GNU/Linux, *BSD, OpenSolaris, macOS, and other UNIX-like systems.
DeaDBeeF lets you play variety of audio formats, convert between them, customize the UI almost any way you want, and use many additional plugins which can extend it even more.

This is the closest alternative I can think of for foobar2000. A lot of the game emu plugins are built in by default AND it's open source (unlike foobar2000).
