Hey u/ZureliaSE for monitoring these different brands and components have you had a look at something like Domotz network monitoring system yet? I'll be honest that I'm the community manager there and that makes me biased - but this is exactly what we do! The software is built specifically for monitoring and alerts for all these different brands of access points and switches. Happy to help if you have any questions.
Thanks for mentioning Domotz, I'm the Community Manager there so I'll stick to a few facts: plug & play, $19 per network for monitoring an unlimited number of devices, no contract, free trial, lots of integrations/APIs. Hope some of you will try it out if you've not already. If you've got any questions, of course just let me know.
You could have a look at Domotz as another alternative that would tick these boxes. It also includes automated network topology maps, special Cisco integration features, and would tick all the rest of the features you mentioned. It's a cost effective option starting at just $19/month per network for monitoring unlimited devices. I'm the CM at Domotz if you have any questions.
Hey u/M0220H20 Domotz could also be an option to check out for this as we have bandwidth tests we perform on the network side, and we also provide Device Response Time which provide useful insights on the latency with the connections with any single device on the Network. For traffic monitoring of each device, we are currently working on an implementation that will allow traffic monitoring for each device on the network. If you are interested in this feature you can send me a DM and I'll let you know how you can into our beta program for this...I'm the community manager at Domotz by the way.
Another way to do this would be with Domotz, which has an IT Glue integration to streamline documentation of printers but also any other networked assets. This would send all details like IP address, vendor, model, serial number, software version, MAC addresses etc. directly to IT Glue to synchronize the assets. As others have mentioned the human side (like logins) would then be added in IT Glue manually. Here is a picture example of the kind of details that would be sent. In full disclosure I'm the community manager at Domotz.
u/Eclectic-One Have you tried Domotz? It is mainly designed for 24/7 network monitoring and management, but also has network diagrams among the features. (I am the community manager at Domotz...Thought I'd chime in because quite a few non-profits use it because of the affordable pricing).
As u/rtccmichael mentioned you could definitely use Domotz on Rasperry Pi for this. There are also other options for installation. (Windows, Linux, NAS, our box etc.) Here are some details about the RPi install: https://help.domotz.com/user-guide/domotz-installation-raspberry-pi/ This would cover remote monitoring and management of all devices and your networks, and wouldn't run you up very much in terms of costs. Disclaimer: I am the CM there if you have any questions as well.
As an alternative product, you could have a look at Domotz. This would be useful for the network assessments/documenting and onboarding networks - identifying all devices and finding out if there are certain security risks on the network (TCP open port scan, network security scan, UPnP port forwarding). It is more designed to sit on the network 24/7 but some of our customers use it ad-hoc only for onboarding since its a month to month agreement. The features for security are lighter than RapidFire Tools but still useful for an initial assesment. Still might be worth checking out for your purposes. I am the CM at Domotz if you have any questions.
Thanks. You're correct. That's what I get for making a snap post. :D
I've used nmap before and while it works well, it's not the greatest to look at. I liked the Domotz software, and the price isn't that bad, however from reading the forums it looks like there are some issues so I was seeing what else is out there.
+1 for Domotz, our company didn't go with it and I hate them for it. It has great tools for open port detection and works for multiple sites and clients so It's a great fit for MSP's
For monitoring heartbeat of devices and your 15 servers you need to watch, you could also have a look at Domotz for this. It is a network monitoring tool mainly meant for monitoring internal infrastructure, but it also includes many monitoring external services. I'm the community manager at Domotz, if you have any questions just let me know.
Maybe I've jumped too quickly - so sorry about that. For 0365 we do not have any features and would not meet this need. We currently do some security scans which are detailed here: https://www.domotz.com/features/network-security.php we do have more plans around this.
Another suggestion which could be useful is Domotz network monitoring system. It will monitor LAN/WAN, drops, latency, and provides 24/7 monitoring of all devices, includes historical reports, automated network topology mapping, SNMP. The pricing is cost effective. $19/month per network for monitoring unlimited devices. I'm the CM at Domotz if you have any questions.
To add another to the list, Domotz is an NMS which includes device discovery and automated network topology maps. A lot of our customers find that quite useful for onboarding new networks. I am the CM at Domotz but thought it would be a good option for you to take a look at as well.
Modern and most advanced network monitoring tools require just one agent to run inside the network. The agent talks with all devices inside the network using locally the various protocols avaiable and then all data are tunneled to their cloud via secure encrypted channels. Of course no ports must be opened, for security! But these tools require to add some outbound firewall rules. Here an interesting white paper from Domotz comparing security of on-premises solutions with cloud ones https://www.domotz.com/white-papers/cloud-security.pdf. You should try it.

Have you looked at Domotz as a low cost tool to help with this? Could be a great one to try for automated network topology mapping as well as device inventory. I'm the community manager here if you have any questions.
Domotz would be another cost effective option to add to your list for evaluation and would give you the required monitoring features you’re after for network traffic, switches, access points, ap’s etc. I’m the CM there…if you have any questions just let me know!
Hi u/Fireboy92 Domotz network monitoring system could also be worth looking at for your use case as well. It would map the device geographically, and show those which are down, provide alerts on configuration changes and misalignment and security incidents and there is integration with Datto. In regards to Security Incidents we can monitor and get alerts on these include:
1 - newly discovered devices in the network
2 - open ports on the network public ip
3 - UPnP Port Forwarding services opened on routers
We'd like to introduce missed back-ups too though this is not currently available. We do have many of our customers using Domotz for display in a big screen and also some are configuring with grafana using our API for custom dashboards. In fact, we're also releasing new custom monitoring dashboards in the month ahead and some users are already beta testing this new feature. A few more details on the Grafana configuration bit here. Also, this advice is slightly biased since I'm the community manager at Domotz, but thought it would be worth looking at for your use case since many of our users love using Domotz for this very thing.
You might also have a look at Domotz network monitoring system for this. It'll gather all devices and systems on the network automatically and created an automated network topology map for you as well. A lot of our service providers use this for initial network assessment to price things appropriately and you can easily move the agent to new networks for onboarding as needed, though we do hope you'll keep it running. In full discretion I'm the community manager at Domotz. Happy to answer any questions if you need.
Have you thought about giving a look at Domotz? u/Fit-designer1897. We're cost-effective and also integrate with ConnectWise for ticketing amongst many other PSA tools. (It will create/update tickets based on the network/device events you want to monitor). I'm the community manager at Domotz in full disclosure but thought it could be useful for you.
https://www.domotz.com/ is pretty cool monitoring tool but it's not free. :(It's not self-hosted unfortunately - local agent sends data sent to their cloud but it was originally made specifically for home/small office network monitoring needs. You can run their agent on various software hardware - Linux, QNAP, Raspberry Pi, etc... I've used it some time ago for monitoring some critical small remote networks.
u/willabizzle You could also have a look at Domotz for this. It is a cost-effective option at $19 per network for monitoring all devices. It would cover the main feature you are after like network config management, device identification, automated topology mapping - we're currently working on Netflow Analysis and will release something in the months ahead.
Disclaimer: I'm the CM at Domotz so probably a bit biased but could definitely be worth looking at for your purposes.
I'm slightly biased because I'm the CM there, but you could have a look at Domotz for this which includes automated network topology maps which would also track changes. We have hundreds of schools using it already (Our price model is really ideal for the budget of schools). Many of them are using it for monitoring and management of all equipment, security cameras and so on and also the maps.
Domotz: [Networking / Network Monitoring System]
Description: Cost effective network monitoring system for MSPs with features such as network topology mapping, SNMP, device identification and fast and easy network set-up. Used to monitor and manage all connected devices, from switches and access points to security cameras and POS equipment. Costs $19/month per network for monitoring unlimited devices with a month to month contract that can be cancelled any time.
Experience: Vendor
I don't use PRTG but you could also have a look at Domotz for doing this job. It's $19/month for unlimited devices so very cost effective and supports SNMP and will alert on all device statuses also has quite a few other features you may find useful. I'm the CM at Domotz in full disclosure but thought it might help your use case...
I read this post and thought Domotz network monitoring system would be perfect for this. Very cost effective ($19 per site for monitoring unlimited devices) it will also create the single pane of glass you are looking for - so you can easily jump between site to site for monitoring and management. We also have integrations for ubiquiti (like Edgerouters). Its extremely easy to configure/plug & play. I am the CM at Domotz, but I really think it could help you.
Domotz is in the same sphere as Auvik (I'm the CM there) and we provide monitoring for all devices, topology, SNMP monitoring, alerts, diagnostics etc. We've also got Meraki specific integrations for access points and switches as well - which could be very interesting for you! https://www.domotz.com/integrations.php
Have a look at Domotz. You can install it on many platforms (linux, windows, Amazon AMI,...). If you do not have any machine there for installing the agent, you can simply install it on a raspberry pi and plug it there, or purchase a Domotz Box. I'm the CM at Domotz if you have any questions at all.
Domotz would be really ideal for this situation! It is meant for monitoring the whole network (including your switches, firewall, etc), and also has the capabilities you are looking
for to monitor your servers via SNMP). If you do not find the MIB in the embedded MIB-browser just ask our support team to insert that. Its very cost effective $19/month per network for all devices. I'm the CM at Domotz but thought it would be a great option for you to test out too.
Definitely have a look at Domotz which is built for monitoring and managing all those devices. you listed It's very cost effective option ($19/network for unlimited devices). I'm the CM at Domotz, but thought it would be perfect for your use case.
We have a lot of our customers offering IP camera monitoring services through Domotz. We even have a great case study of a customer performing IP camera monitoring in a regulated industry, https://www.domotz.com/alvarez-technology-group.php where cameras need to be online 24/7. Via our public API, you can also access and store security camera footage. I'd definitely recommend taking a look at Domotz for security camera offering because its designed to monitor all devices and especially IP cameras. I'm the CM there but if you have any questions just let me know.
Hi there, you could definitely have a look at Domotz with any of your APs. It's a remote network monitoring/management system and we've got an integration with many APs like Ubiquity, Cisco, Juniper, Meraki. There is a subscription but it's very cost effective at $19/month per network for unlimited devices and VLANs. https://www.domotz.com/integrations.php I'm the CM there, but if you need any more details just let me know.
Maybe Domotz would be perfect. It runs on a Raspberry PI and probably worth looking at for your purposes because its plug & play, very user friendly interface and does not take much to manage. It's not free, but very affordable (i.e. 19/month per network) for monitoring an unlimited number of devices and VLANs. You can try it free on your PI too. I am the community manager at Domotz (so I guess a little biased) but definitely thought that it would be useful to meet your needs. If you have any further questions, just let me know.
Might be worth considering/having a look at Domotz as well? We do configuration management amongst many other features. (remote access, SNMP, remote power management, network monitoring etc.) You can backup the running and startup configuration files of your network switches and we also track configuration changes over time and notify you about it. Configuration issues can also be identified and resolved by restoring previously saved files. This helps centralize network configuration across any teams. Very soon, we'll also be releasing more configuration management for firewalls. Let me know if you have any questions at al!
That's good to know. This doesn't seem to align with an FAQ answers on your website on this page:
https://www.domotz.com/pricing.php
2nd question: "How many devices can I monitor per site?" with an aswer of "One Domotz Agent includes monitoring for an unlimited number of devices. With a single Domotz Agent you can monitor an entire management network with a /22 netmask, tens of additional VLANs and multiple Layer 3 additional subnets. You can also monitor tens of external IP addresses/hostnames."
That's why I mentioned the /22 netmask.
You should look at Domotz (www.domotz.com). It allows you to see the status of all network interfaces, as well as nice features for network mapping, PoE, monitoring of access points and related connected devices, device response time monitoring and so on. This is addition to standard network monitoring, snmp v1/v2/v3, remote access and so on...
You could also have a look at Domotz. It offers automatic device inventory, automated port mapping of managed network switches and automated network topology maps. Definitely Meraki switches are supported, and we've got some nice features for Meraki AP's. I'm the CM there but thought it would really be useful for your purposes.
For asset inventory you could have a look at Domotz which would give a full inventory of all device assets. https://www.domotz.com/features/identify-devices.php In full disclosure I am the Community Manager at Domotz but thought our asset inventory feature would be relevant for your purposes.
I would definitely have a look at Domotz as an affordable option ($19/month for unlimited devices and no contract). I’m the community manager there but thought it would really meet your budget constraints and will cover your feature needs. There is also Cisco switch integration which will do individual port monitoring of managed network switches. It will also let you perform Configuration management, backup and restore for the same. It doesn’t have a MySQL DB you can access, but there is an extensive API you can use to extract the information you want in the format you like. In terms of NAC, Domotz includes remote connect to any device on the network (either through a Direct Remote Connection to SSH, HTTP/s, RDP, or via an On Demand VPN).
For this you might want to have a look at Domotz. It's a very simple set-up and there's a free 21 day trial. (I am the community manager there). But I really think it might work for your use case/needs.

Tools like Nessus are absolutely necessary for deep vulnerability scans.
Many MSPS are finding providing additional services using Domotz very useful. Domotz is mainly a Network Monitoring and Management Systems, but it provides some useful and unique features to increase the Security of a network and implement security best practices.
Maybe worth having a free trial: https://www.domotz.com/
I'm sorry you had such a poor experience to start. Since you want to demo some new things, I'd give Domotz a try. It's very cheap for monitoring all IoT devices, and the mobile app/web app are very intuitive. You can also securely connect with devices using TCP/HTTP/SSH/Telnet/RDP access. https://www.domotz.com/features.php
I think Domotz would be a good fit. It’s cheap, plug & play and there’s a 21 day free trial. You can install the network agent on (Windows, Linux, Raspberry PI, or NAS like QNAP/Synology/ReadyNAS). It’ll cover monitoring and alerts and you can also easily connect to any device in the network in a secure way without opening ports. There is also a very nice integration with Ubiquiti Access Points.
Worth taking a look for your purposes. https://www.domotz.com/features.php
For endpoint management, many of them are equivalent. Most of them will try to lock you forever or have hidden costs. Please start with the ones with clear pricing and no long term committment. For the rest of your network, you must use Domotz: Price vs Features are unbeatable.
I would love a feature like this on SRM but in the meantime I use an app on my Synology NAS called Domotz. This monitors a number of things on your network including broadband outages and speeds.
You could also install it as a service on a Linux/Windows machine or even run it on a raspberry pi.
The service costs a small amount per month but imho is worth the cost to know what’s happening on your network at all times.
Domotz provides a Network Topology Mapping capability. You can export the map in PNG or SVG.
Have a look. That's just one of the multiple available features included.
Even though this is quite an old post, let me suggest to have a look at Domotz. VPN on Demand (without opening ports on the Router/Gateway!) has just been added to their features.
All the devices (network devices, PC/servers, IoT in general) discovered on the network: monitored and managed for $19/mo. Cost is per site/network.
Just stumbled across this. Will be trying this tonight. If it does everything it says it does, could be worth it. It appears to also act as a reverse proxy, as it claims you can access any devices on the netwiry via http, ssh, RDP, etc. https://www.domotz.com
I think the role of tech support is only going to increase as more devices enter the home. People are going to increasingly need remote IT services. We have a system that helps with this on which you can deliver remote and digital tech support. It's pretty new but probably worth checking out! https://www.domotz.com/domotz-pro/
