There's a free demo thats incredibly good and entertaining... Very rare that games have free demo's these days. But anyways I'd check that out if you're interested in seeing what all the Hullabaloo is about :).
Yes - it's a video game. They just released a new version too - very popular. Big company. Same name/same logo.

As this person is in another country, I figured it was worth mentioning that if they decide to import it, part of that process should be to create original branding to avoid legal issues. It is what it is. No slight intended to the OP.
Also interesting, the links from http://doom.com/en-us/buynow don't work. Attempting to purchase the PS4 version returns a locked page and the XBox link doesn't seem to lead to anything productive either... at the time of writing at least.
Conspiracy?

No, not all. There is a true real successor in Doom 4 with full multiplayer and a single player campaign. It was made by Bethesda in 2016 after they purchased Id Software. It was released to fantastic reviews, and was one of the best campaigns I played last year. The multi-player has had constant content drops with none of this paid DLC nonsense. 10/10 would buy again, and probably will so I have it on my Xbox One too (I bought it for PC).
Edit: added link.
