Football Manager You can pick up the 2010 version for like 20 bucks on steam (that's what I play.) I love this game (900 hours into it) and I probably only watch a few hours of soccer my entire life. The depth of this game is awesome, and it's definitely very addicting.
>More Realistic Injuries
>Sports Interactive has worked alongside a number of physiotherapists, doctors and related organisations to ensure that the depiction and treatment of injuries in Football Manager 2016 is more realistic than ever before. This doesn’t mean that fewer injuries will be sustained, but that those which do occur will be treated and develop more realistically. Injuries will now be determined during matches, while new injury types have been added and there is now a tangible distinction between player condition and match sharpness.
>"Jumping Reach reflects how good a player is at reaching the ball in the air. It indicates the highest point an outfield player can reach with his head. It is not necessarily reflective of how tall a player is, but when considering his jumping ability, it makes sense to take into account the player’s height. For example, a player of 200+cm will still possess a high reach even if he is a poor jumper, and a player who measures in at 170cm will struggle to compete at the same height due to the 30cm difference in height between the two."

> He’s not wrong though. 2k getting the license would be way better for the series.
Personally I think that if both 2k and EA released a game, it'd be better. A little competition breeds for better games in my opinion.
New college football game, I'd totally be down for. Just had a thought though. As anyone ever created or planned on creating a game like Football Manager. I don't know if you play FIFA or not, but FIFA focuses on the on the field action with the hiring/firing/training coming secondary. Football Manager focuses on the hiring/firing/training/managing of a soccer club with the on field play happening almost secondary.
A college football game where you play as head coach. Hiring your staff, training your players, upgrading facilities to better recruit, etc. Plan out your upcoming seasons, manage boosters and press conferences. Then, during games, you call the play in and let your players have at it...that would be awesome!
It'd be dynasty mode on steroids!
My good chap, unfortunately your laptop does not contain a graphics card - instead it uses integrated graphics powered by your i3 cpu (which is decent, but integrated graphics for gaming really needs an i7.) Thus, I would personally only recommend indies or older games. Granted, you are in luck, because Football Manager offers a free demo you could download and test out. Football Manager seems relatively low demanding so it could work if you're comfortable with lower settings. Your i3 integrated graphics apparently meet the minimum requirements for Civ5 as well, and you can download a free demo for that as well.
TL;DR - Both games have free demos, test them yourself you salty barnacle <3
Football Manager Touch is what you're after. It offers a more streamlined experience, less things to worry about etc. You will need a 'high-end' tablet.
Compatibility list here:
http://www.footballmanager.com/games/football-manager-touch-2016#compatibility
Otherwise there's FM16 Mobile, which is even more streamlined and simple
Game is available today at £14.99 for select tablets and is said to bring the full FM Classic experience.
Compatible devices list here: http://www.footballmanager.com/content/what-devices-are-compatible-fmc15
AH! I think this is actually by design for FM13 Classic Mode. Check out the following page in the manual: >Focus on tactics and transfers and make quicker progress through your career, making your free time truly count. > >You'll find that some areas of Football Manager are 'missing' from Football Manager Classic. This is entirely by design and intended to refine the game experience to the things that matter most.
Now I'm totally going on speculation here, but I imagine that you get to hire the Chief Scout, and then he gets to hire the remaining scouting support staff.
One thing you could try is to check your Staff Responsibilities settings... you may be able to change the setting for who hires your staff. You'll see one option for "Chief Scout" and another for "All other staff". Set yourself for "All other staff" and see if you can offer the position after.
You'll find this on your Team > Staff > Responsibilities.
Really quickly made screenshot
Let me know :-) I'm at work so I can't fire the game up to check!
I'd like to know the same, I always buy from GMG but this year they were not on the official list on the announcement from SiGames (http://www.footballmanager.com/FM16-pre-order-offer) so I'm hesitating a bit.
U18 coaches cannot train first team players. First team assistant manager, goalkeeper and fitness coaches can train U18/U21 players, but other first team coaches cannot. U18/U21 assistant managers can train first team players, I believe.
You hire first team coaches with good Works with Youngster ratings so that they can train your younger first team players, not for any other players.
I double checked the web manual, which was useless. http://www.footballmanager.com/manual/40-manager-menuthe-sidebar/46-training
I've sunk thousands of hours into FM over the last 9 years without really supporting any particular team IRL, which is almost certainly what draws most people to FM in the first place. (Although I do play the game casually and watch games from time to time.) To get into FM, I think it would help somewhat if you could at least appreciate the sport of football to some extent. But I think you don't have to know anything at all about football to get into FM (other than knowing that strikers have to score goals and defenders need to know how to tackle, etc.).
You can also download the demo and give it a spin for an afternoon. Once you've played a couple of games you've seen pretty much everything that the game has to offer. It's really all about building your team from there on out.
I really like these games too. My personal wish would be for something like "Thieves Guild Manager" in a D&D-like fantasy setting. XCOM is my favourite, never played Gladius, but it looks really good.
As for others in this genre. I skew towards the management side so there are a few sports manager games - Football Manager is popular depending on which part of the world you are from. There is a cycling one too (but I haven't played it). There is probably one in a sport of your preference - if you have a sporting preference.
There is also Adventurer Manager.
I believe he's talking about Football Manager. Supposed to be a really, really indepth soccer manager. I think it also happens to be one of the most pirated games of any given year.
> I need a good tutorial.
Look, I'm not being a dick... But have you Googled the words "Football Manager Tutorial"?
If you do so, you'll find links to (amongst others):
They ought to help...
If you are American: Watch ESPN, the bible of american sports. That channel sets the zeitgeist for what Americans like in sports, and what gets talked about.
If you are European: Get a copy of Football Manager. Year after year this game is one of the top selling games in Europe, and will teach you about the hundreds of teams and thousands of players involved in the global football market, as well as all the leagues, competitions...etc.
http://www.footballmanager.com/
If you are Brazilian: All you need to know for any conversation is: Messi = bad, Neymar = good
I'm not sure what you mean by simulation. You mean like just setting tactics/squad and letting the AI play it out, or if the game allows you to play a semi-realistic match? If you're more into the former, try Football Manager. If you want to try to a mix of both, there will be a manager mode in FIFA 12.
If you buy the full game, touch (on pc) is free.
http://www.footballmanager.com/games/football-manager-2018
All purchases of Football Manager 2018 include a free copy of Football Manager Touch 2018 (for Windows, macOS or Linux only).
Hope this helps, in short the update just fixed some steam workshop bugs and issues with signing into social media within the game!
Look up the specs for the laptop model you have online and see if they match or exceed the minimum specs for FM16. Simple.
Here are the system requirements.
The game requires the steam platform.
If you aren't sure about purchasing it then you can try out the demo, which allows you to play six in-game months of the full game.
Its all management but the thing about the game is that it draws you into the world. I don't think Ive been as legitimately as offended at a game as I was when the news popped up with a story that my own fans were assembling outside the stadium to protest at my handling of the club.
You build teams and dynasties, you scour the globe to find that one player you can mould into a global superstar and then decide whether to sell him to fund half a new team or build around him.
Its got a little bit of a learning curve at the start but all you need to do is mess around and see what works. In this version I was trying out tactics that worked for me in previous versions to little success, then I was losing a game to the top team in the division, tried something I'd never done before and it all clicked. The team came back from 2-0 down and we went from mid table at Christmas with the fans calling for my head to winning the league by the end of the season.
Theres a demo available to let you try the game for free, http://www.footballmanager.com/news/play-fm16-demo give that a go and see how you go. /r/footballmanagergames might have a few resources for tips and tactics and stuff. I'd recommend FM Classic for a first timer if thats an option on the demo.
I didn't realise either until I found the same guy in two of my saves. Turns out there may be a whole bunch of them: http://www.footballmanager.com/manual/fm2016/credits/sports-interactive-quality-assurance
I found Jack Masterson on one of my saves too, potential to be a leading premier league right back. I haven't looked for the other but i'm sure some of them will be there.
To make your own rough estimate with references:
Loading leagues defines the level of simulation for them. The more leagues you load the more players in the database and having lots of players can slow your game down (requires extra processing power).
You will need load England and the English championship as playable. You should also load the premier league and league one incase you get promoted/relegated.
Leading Spain will mean the games in Spain will will be simulated and you can watch see their scores or even watch them.
Also did you try googling first? I googled "football manager loading leagues" and got this article which seems to explain it reasonable well. Also why did you ask a very similar question again within half an hour?
I don't think that's entirely true, at least according to the manual. > Jumping Reach reflects how good a player is at reaching the ball in the air. It indicates the highest point an outfield player can reach with his head. It is not necessarily reflective of how tall a player is, but when considering his jumping ability, it makes sense to take into account the player’s height. For example, a player of 200+cm will still possess a high reach even if he is a poor jumper, and a player who measures in at 170cm will struggle to compete at the same height due to the 30cm difference in height between the two.
Download the free demo they have, only thing you need is steam.
http://www.footballmanager.com/news/download-fm15-demo
If the demo works then the full game should work too, no speculation or anything, just try and see.
Since you mentioned enjoying FIFA, I'm not sure if you're into sims, but if you're looking for something that will make the days pass like minutes, you might want to try out Football Manager. It's exactly like it sounds and while you don't actually play the games, it's a great soccer simulation and you can waste ungodly amounts of time on it if it holds your interest.
The official game manual may give you some pointers and explain some context. It's ingame as well, so you can consult it any time (via the [?]-button located on the right side of the top bar) if somethings unclear.
I also like this rather exhaustive guide, since it's well-structured and offers in-depth explanation on various concepts of gameplay.
Apart from that: Just get started. You'll lose games, you'll get sacked, but you're also getting better. Start with a strong team, try not to screw it up - and if you do, just start over again. It's a rather steep learning curve, but you won't stop smiling for a week once you've won a trophy for the first time.
