Fusioo started off as a web development agency (under another name) and eventually became a SaaS product targeted at digital agencies.
We basically got fed up with the existing project management tools and how we couldn't get them to work the way we did. Eventually we morphed into a SaaS business and we dramatically improved recurring revenue (I'll be writing about this one later on this year). When we were still a web dev agency, we used to get most of our customers through referrals and outbound marketing (finding customers on LinkedIn/Quora using the mentioned techniques and essentially cold emailing our leads). However, as you would imagine, this tactic makes sense when the annual contract value is at around 10K-20K (per project). It just doesn't make sense for a SaaS product with a low touch sales model; you'll never justify the customer acquisition cost.
Now we're way more focused on Inbound - blog targeting, SEO, content marketing - and with sharing our past experience as a digital agency.
If I were to grow a digital agency right now, I would focus exclusively on becoming a leader in a particular niche and converting most of my customers to retainer clients (by productizing my services).
Note: Not really knowledgable about Hubspot's content strategy, so I'm afraid I cannot really comment on that one!

Fusioo is pretty much offering something similar to Force.com but targeted at business users. You can actually combine "easy to use" and "customizable" to a certain extent.
Have to agree tough that if you want to login and get started immediately (I mean just start entering leads etc and not looking for something that scales with your team) then you should probably take a look at the mentioned alternatives.
