It depends for me. From time to time Discover Weekly has great songs that I probably wouldn't have discovered otherwise, but most of the time, I find the suggestions to be not that good and kinda strange (but maybe that happens because I don't use Spotify too often).
Some other "discovery tools" that I use are the YouTube mix (the playlist with 50+ videos right to the video), Bandcamp's discovery site and also, recently, IndieShuffle. Found a lot of great new music on these sites.
i'll have to ask my wife about an article she recently read about how hype machine has fucked music blogs with promos. I love the hype machine as a consumer, but as an artist, i'm on the fence.
ahh here:
I just wanted to drop the link to the remix with Tame Impala's Elephant. Both songs are fuckin fuego standalone, but the remix is some wavy shit.
I like this site called indie shuffle there are just a lot of good random songs on it. But I also used to use 8tracks it is a lot of user generated playlists, I liked it because it was cool to hear what other people were listening to on a playlist.
Here are some of my favorite artists that share a similar sound to Lana's-
Also try using http://www.indieshuffle.com it is a really good way of finding new music
i love http://www.indieshuffle.com
I'm always finding great really small/unknown bands on there, and they have a great filter system. worth checking out!
Also KEXP, Consequences of Sound, KCRW, and any and all live session blogs (such as Fuel/Friends, Doe Bay Sessions, etc).
On the John Wick Soundtrack:
M86 & Susie Q - In My Mind (3:07)
Kaleida - Think 3:59)
and the last one is

(Its indie synth-pop/electronica with female vocalists, start looking on blogs like http://www.indieshuffle.com/music/female-vocalist/ or just go to Hype-m) the important tag is indie
or music blogs, or radio, or friends telling you of a band, or tv/movies, or youtube, or opening acts at shows, or bands recommending other bands, or festivals... i can keep going.
i think spotify is an amazing tool to discover new music. but its not the only tool out there, and IMO its not the best way to do it. Indie Shuffle - great website to find smaller bands, but only a couple of their songs are available to stream. incentive to buy their album and everything else you said.
Try Sci-Fi-o-rama it's a blog that collects a lot of new and classic sci-fi art like this.
I must confess I'm a huge lover of this style too, vintage sci-fi, it's got a lovely warm feeling.
Pretty Lights is a band that has several album covers in the same style
"Piano pop" is probably the best way to describe it. My favorite group in this vein is Jukebox The Ghost, they're probably exactly what you're looking for.
Via indieshuffle track review:
> The track sees Nate weaving darkly ornate, poetic wordplay throughout the dynamic soundscape, supported by soft harmonies by Benjamin. All this is then juxtaposed against eerie guitar melodies, harsh, rapid-fire instrumentation, and an urgent pace set by the erratic drum patterns, and multilayered percussive and melodic elements.
> The track exudes danger, angst, and creativity
New album coming out May 20th.
My Darling Fury - "Satisfied"
Indie-pop reminiscent of Wilco, Fleet Foxes, and inspired by artists like Bjork, St. Vincent, and afro-cuban rhythms. Based out of Richmond, VA, this is the first single from their sophomore album. I love the vocals and quality production.
Dude try going on http://www.indieshuffle.com/ and search for the songs, if they're on indie shuffle (sometimes they aren't- unlike spotify) then you'll see recommendations.
If that doesn't help, try starting a Pandora radio with the songs. You need to create a radio with one of the songs, then add the others through the ''add variety'' option.
If that doesn't help, create a playlist on Spotify with the songs and then start the ''playlist radio''.
If all of these fail, you can go to artist profiles on Spotify, look up their ''about'' page and see what playlists they featured in.
I'd recommend 8tracks if you're interested in finding new music. It's made up of thousands of user-made playlists.
If you're into indie/alt music indieshuffle is amazing. It's a curated site with consistently great music from soundcloud.
Try my website, indieshuffle.com.
We filter the best of SoundCloud on a daily basis and then break it down into "smart shuffle" stations that keep a similar genre/feel to the original song you started with. Also on iOS and Android :)
So I found a plugin that generates album cover and play/buy buttons on hover. It also supports SoundCloud URLs for streaming.
My problem now is I have no clue how to get it to show up in the posts on the home page, or as a post on the home page. The shortcode looks great but I would like to have it all on the front page with an infinite scroll.

Any suggestions to point me in the right direction?
I like the wordpress layout! Seen it before, but it looks great on your site. I recommend creating a central focus for newcomers when they land on the homepage of your site, something to grab onto to help understand what it's about. For example, IndieShuffle.com has a message right at the newcomer's eye level of exactly what the site is about, with a link to a blog post that goes into further description.
Your site is something that could get BIG. It's a great idea, especially with its connection to Spotify. I bookmarked it. I bet other people will too. It aids in music discovery while enhancing one's knowledge in music theory.
Excited to see where it'll go!
Eh, I'm not really feeling it. Mainly because it's so different from their original stuff, not that that's necessarily a bad thing.
On the other hand, I'm hoping more of their stuff sounds like Best Friend. Love it!

Falling through a simple world Nothing here to call my own Searching on for something sweet to savour I'm parting seas away from view When it's time to walk a line I'll find a destiny I'm free from time I've lost my mind Goodbye now don't wave to me
Time to wander Now I'm gone never here When you look nothing near Will you wonder Now I'm gone never here When you look nothing near And I wonder, I wonder
Rolling through the rocky bend Will the journey ever end Try'na find the missing puzzle under Thunderclouds and desert streets When you fly a lonely sky the view is far too sweet I'm like a bird I sing from hurt Spread your wings and glide to me
Time to wander Now I'm gone never here When you look nothing near Will you wonder Now I'm gone never here When you look nothing near And I wonder, I wonder
