I am fan of Kanban and Kanban boards. However, it really depends on your workflow. See this site for a quick write up: https://kanbantool.com/free-kanban-board
However, you do not have to use their tool. Many companies offer Kanban tools. See here for a list of idea: https://www.ntaskmanager.com/blog/best-kanban-tools/
For my personal 'for fun' projects, I use Kanban to plan, chart and track progress. My team at work uses Jira, but that's overkill for personal projects. You can get web kanban boards like KanbanTool for free. also do like making one out of tape and moving stickie notes around. The tactile process of externalizing thoughts into physical space is very helpful.
Well, definitely Kanban Tool (kanbantool.com) is worth trying. You should check it out. It has free plan avaible and for the quality of service it offers, it work incredibly good. A lot of companies around the world has already tried it :)
This would probably work better with a pure kanban app which implements swimlanes. That way you have the same columns, but they are separated by customer.
It's not a feature in the most popular kanban services, but it's very useful. Kanbantool and Kanbanize and others offer it.
I'm using https://kanbantool.com/ here. They say :
>Increase team performance with a visual project management tool
How about instead subverting it for use as an old-time folk song catalogue?
The system works perfectly, you just change the color-coding categores from "urgent", "bug fix" etc. to the song key. Add "swimming lanes" for different styles if you want. If you click through on the songs then i've got links to tabs and videos for each.
I got the idea from one of the chapters in Josh from Brainjo's book "The Laws of Brainjo: The Art & Science of...". He recommends using index card in three stacks arranged according to your playing competence. That's a natural fit for a kanban board style system.
This. My other thought was that OP and the manager seem to blame each other, when really the process is the problem.... because it sounds like OP is following their standard process and the manager is having a hard time understanding that their process only flows smoothly when production occurs at their standard rate. Both OP and the manager are creating a bottleneck. OP’s overproduction may be causing stationary inventory issues but it sounds like it benefits the customer. That’s the kind of constraint you want to exploit.. If I were the manager, I would be looking at the rest of the employees production rates, and also looking into why I don’t trust any of my employees with the stationary. If OP and the manager put their heads together, I bet they could improve this process.
I also have a side hustle e-commerce and I know the struggle of focusing and working and growing it, especially when working at home.
So here it is what has worked for me:
*Sign up for online classes or webinars (there are many free ones and if you sell on amazon they also make free webinars) this is great because many times I find myself motivated to apply my new knowledge on my e-commerce.
*Learn and research areas where you feel stuck, it can be via google, the thing is understanding your business better for future projects
*Minimize distractions, have a workplace just for your business... I used to work by the coach and that was a huge mistake, I bought a small desk with a comfy chair and I concentrate way better!
*Have a planner and write down what needs to be done on the day and focus on successfully finishing the daily job
*Also there are online calendars that can help you I love the kanBan method cause I can write down my pending tasks without a due date (cause sometimes there are non-priority tasks but needs to be done anyways) I will link the one I use and have work for me.
*Don't get angry at yourself for having a lazy day.... it happens, it is normal and I promise you will soon have a very motivating day
*If you think a business advisor will work for you, go for it, there is nothing wrong for getting outside opinion, I personally don't use a business advisor but I sometimes ask friends with the knowledge that I need.... maybe in the future, I will need a business advisor, who knows!
Hope this works!
I think you should read about "The 5 Whys Technique": https://kanbantool.com/kanban-guide/5-whys
Sometimes we think we understand something, but if we keep asking "why?" we realize we don't understand it at all.
I use the Kanban method. It's quite easy and very effective. Here you can find a great explanation of what the method is, check it out: https://kanbantool.com/kanban-guide/kanban-method
we are using a Kanban board for that, I can recommend kanban tool for that, maybe check the free trial if that fits your needs as I do not know how strict that "no interactions with others" needs to be for you
1 and 2: I don't use Pomodoro, I prefer the Kanban method. It's simple and very effective. If you're curious about it, you can find more information here: https://kanbantool.com/kanban-library/introduction
I do a little bit of everything every day. My tasks vary, sometimes I work all day on one task, sometimes I do 10 different things during one day. It depends on what is needed to be done.
The one that I already mentioned: the Kanban method.
I like working when there are no other people around me because then no one disturbs me.
I take a break when I feel like I need to. I probably should use more structure for it, though. Ah well, I'm still working on productivity improvements I could apply to my work habits :)
I know that. Sometimes some days are just lazy and I guess it's ok too, as long as you still meet the deadlines. What helps me to stay productive when I feel unmotivated but I need to work are some motivation hacks. These ones work pretty well on me, so hopefully they'll help you too, if you need them: https://kanbantool.com/blog/a-few-motivation-hacks-we-all-need
There's a lot of them! First of all, you have a better control of what your team members are doing at the moment. You can prevent them from overlapping their tasks, you can monitor your workers pattern (if the tool has such features, obviously; one of the ones that has is the one I use and it's https://kanbantool.com/ ). You can see how much time each project takes (again, you need the right features for that). From my experience, implementing project management software increases the team's productivity and makes work easier, especially if your team works remotely.
I use KanbanTool at work and must say really impressed with the simplicity and visibility added to my day.
Analytics are great with multiple metrics for WIP limits like - estimated hours, tasks, etc. Cumulative charts are great too!
I would recommend this tool to anyone who is looking for simple and effective workflow, clean-UI, reporting tools, mobile-app without over-engineering the setup.
I use it for my personal Kanban too, it's got all the features that make it really useful for personal use as well as for teams.
