I would suggest after a few messages, that you ask for a video session though Kosmi or Zoom. https://kosmi.io/ is really cool because you can watch movies, play games, or just talk to one another via video(or texting) but the goal is video. You don't have to download or install anything, or even sign in.
Then after one video session or two ask for a meet up. Personally, I need to know the person is who they say they are prior to meeting.
Now is not the time to take such risks. Asymptomatic transmission is very real. Please use a digital hangout platform like Kosmi to play NES,SNES, Poker, watch youtube, netflix with your friends online.
I know this thread is old, but I wanted to chime in with a solution that has worked very well for me since I bought this TV on the Marketplace December 08, 2020. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/KOSMI-Streaming-TV-by-8exy/19097238
The way this TV works is by using a free account from the streaming platform http://kosmi.io/ After joining Kosmi, you create a "Room" and then stream video from your browser (preferably Google Chrome) to your room. Residents viewing the video on the TV in SL will see your "Room" so whenever you pause, play, or rewind, it is still synced for all users viewing the TV in SL.
Up until recently, viewers did not have to create an account of their own on Kosmi to continue viewing video without a Login prompt overlay on top of the video popping up every 15 minutes or so. And residents can just click on the video behind the prompt to make it go away even though it will just pop up again in 15 minutes. But Kosmi is free, so once a resident logs in (via actually clicking on the TV and typing in their username and password, which is only viewable to them client-side) the resident gets to continue watching the video with no interruptions other than the case of the host pausing or stopping the video. ♥
IMPORTANT NOTE: 8exy (the creator of the TV) is not a developer of the Kosmi.io streaming service, but the developer of Kosmi is aware that this TV for SL exists and allows it.
Yeah - that is unfortunately my experience as well with Zoom. My friends and I use https://kosmi.io/ instead for this purpose! There's a screenshare feature and we've found we can also track each others' latency on the app - so it makes sure as close to no one is perceiving a lag.
I don't have a bunch of amazing ideas for you but I wanted to tell you I relate! I live alone in a small condo and sometimes I get so sick of my space (and myself, TBH)!
I get some anxiety from totally unstructured zoom calls/catch-ups, but one thing I learned about here on reddit that has been really cool is using kosmi.io to do virtual tv parties with a small group of friends regularly. It is a really neat free site that allows you to do video, audio, and text chat with friends while one participant screen shares a streaming video. We chose to watch some old seasons of Survivor via Hulu- fun and relatively mindless. We meet Monday evenings (which was often the toughest time of the week for me) and watch 2 episodes and do some light video chatting before and after. We have the details of the show to talk about and I turn off my video during the show, so it's not too overwhelming to be "on" the whole time. We keep it as a standing weekly date and I find myself really looking forward to it!
I use https://kosmi.io/ for watch parties with friends. You can play games, share your screen with audio, all over browser with no installation needed on host or client side.
To anyone who previously used Rabbit cast before they went downhill, this is the best alternative I have found.

I use OBS Studio to record any audio, both incoming and outgoing, at the same time. With that you can use absolutely any platform you want for your conversation, be it Skype, Zoom, Discord whatever. I'm so cheap I do my interviews in a Kosmi.io room, which is entirely free and requires absolutely no registration; even has game features, so sometimes I do my interviews playing poker with my guests.
Team Lead here, we have an open invitation game time around 4:30pm everyday. It’s drop-in and optional. We try to emulate what we do in the office and this is the best we could find virtually.
Try out these two games, they’re browser based and free: Kosmi (virtual poker has been really fun)
Both are very good and easy to learn pictionary clones that are pretty fun in my opinion. You can also create private rooms as to not allow randy's to join

Kosmi is a pretty good website for hosting events online. I found it a while back and have used it to make game rooms with my friends.
It includes: A Texas hold em game room, A Virtual Card Table for any card games, A youtube video watching room, a regular video conference room, a pretty decent Quake remake (First Person shooter with no blood), they're also adding a couple more rooms, but I don't know when they will be added or how good they will be.
If anyone has a problem with that URL, I'll gladly change it. It's just a landing page anyways, the actual implementation is on my platform kosmi.io
The game is distributed for free which is allowed under their Creative Commons license.
Check out Kosmi until it gets fixed. You can create a room without registration and cowatch YouTube in addition to playing NES/SNES games and a Quake 3 clone just in your web browser.
Kosmi.io does exactly this, there's one function for poker and another function for any other card game. There's a webcam chat option so people's faces appear near their hand of cards to make it more social. It's free and doesn't require any downloading.
